Yorick has some problems, mainly the fact that his laning is actually very counterable and he is forced to push and that he tends to be significantly weaker in the lategame if he doesn't completely decimate the lane, oh and defensive masteries are good vs him. Most of this is negated by maxing Q first so that you can repeatedly kill your opponent but luckily no one does that.
Oh yeah, Riven's pretty tough. Her shield makes your ghoul harrass completely useless and at lvl 6 she can kill you if you go melee a minion.

I'm pretty sure that shouldn't work. Both ghouls outrange Vorpal Blade and seeing as one of them slows, you should never get in range to chuck a Blade unless Yorick wants you to. You will lose every trade that happens in melee range seeing as he has 3 ghouls hitting you and better AD and all you have is Q+Ki Strike, and then he's going to heal back up much faster than you do. It sounds like he was really dumb and letting you taunt him under the turret?

actually yorick's lategame strength is largely gated by how strong your range-ad is, which may/may not have something to do with the amount he's played. Yes, his ult can be strong on himself if he's fed/farmed, but even if you do shit earlygame, if your range-ad is on par or doing exceedingly well, yorick's lategame is godlike.

And people underestimate yorick lategame even without the ranged ad. You get to build stupidly tanky AND get free damage reduction on top of that, and since you typically get some form of ad anyway your ghouls and shovels actually hurt people pretty badly.

No reason for me to try to waste my Q on him when he has mana as well as his stuff off cooldown. You need Q and W to negate and heal off him harass. When he started to run a bit low on mana i taunted him and Qed him a couple times then backed off. Basically, to me it felt i could freefarm and eventually make him to run out of mana, then either he recalls or he's sitting there with no mana for ghouls. After i got up some resists and my HoG i felt i could trade more effectively.
edit; to be clear i didnt intend to say shen beats yorick or anything, im not good enough to make these sort of comments. I just intended to post my experience and start off the discussion.

I did well as Shen, but they didn't build any MR at all so they asked for it. I guess Panthéon can trash her too, her W doesn't work against his Q and he's got higher MS so she'll have to use Q and E to get to him, to which I guess he can answer with a stun.
People hinted at Tryndamere too.

Speaking of Yorick, he actually poops on a lot of mids pretty hard early game, and his W has a 1.0 AP scaling. If you can get a decent early game lead you can carry pretty hard as an AP. If not however, you just kind of suck balls... AP Yorick my go to troll/smurf build. With a decent amount of CDR (dat 12 second CD qq) things just die. Nothing quite as satisfying as chunky two people almost instantly with one spell.

I never said it was good, merely that it catched people by surprise. Having 700+ AP and doing almost 1k AoE nukes on a non-ulti is fun as hell.
