Nearly 1600 elo here playing just support on ranked. Don't think I can get 1850 with my skill level though

So I just faced Shen top as Renek...totally crapped all over him. Anecdotal but I think I will be going Renek vs him whenever I see a Shen pick

I feel that Shen has problems against any aggressive top laners who can gap close, but otherwise he's very dominant in his lane. I won vs a gp today with a large margin, then lost to an Akali. I built opened merc treads + null vs Akali's boots + revolver, and once Akali hit 6, it was pretty ugly. The next game it was Akali again, and I managed to do well by being hyper-aggressive pre-6 and zoning her out.

hi guys i'm 15 pages late, but in like the last 10 games i played like 2-3 people out of the enemy team say stuff like "i hate losing to bad players" or "you're bad" or w/e so i just report everyone
also if you queue with 4 people oftentimes you get a poophead so i just report them too
some of my friends are also jerks too but i mean they get banned too so who cares LOL, i don't think that or care if my reports have any effect, it's just fun to report everyone after every game
i mean seriously, how many of you actually play lots of normal games and never get big fat poopheads in the majority of them

i made it from 1200 to about 1500ish with primarily support, and TBH, the majority of games i win nowadays are with support. Been losing some elo trying to re-learn other positions tho.
also, our very own spinesheath made it quite high (~1800's i believe?) as a support player.

The big thing is you can hit 1500 just by knowing what to do late game. It doesnt matter how bad your early game is if you can just bully your team into getting objectives and fighting together.

Mid Soraka too stronk. New Attack animation makes early last hitting and harass much easier, and you basically never run out of mana with Starcall. She just bullies casters so hard.

it's probably worse to support at really low ratings if you support baddies who can't even farm though. that's probably where the belief came from.

Blitz, Zil, Leona, Alistar, anyone who can hard engage or has the ability to lay the hurt down 2v1 is a good way to just win bot lane for your team if you dont feel like getting good at a slightly more traditional support.
And ya Bear, dun quite get all the bitching about playing support and "0 cs is a problem" or whatever. I just kind of chalk it up to people not knowing how to play properly.

i have supported a ton of complete dumbass carries by virtue of keeping them alive 100x longer than they deserve to, IMO if you play a role really really well, you don't have to be the carry to contribute significantly to the game, which is why I've always found that belief perplexing.

Plenty of people get to high elo by playing support, the difference between them and others who say you can't is that they are good at support. I swear, every time I play with a Janna they are amazing and we stomp so hard. I guess it just depends on your knowledge of how to play bot lane, and whether or not you can pass that on to your AD effectively (sometimes the AD will be brain dead, and it just won't work).
But yeah, I've played with smurfing supports and I can totally believe that someone good at support could help carry a shittier AD.

I've been jungling Shen and Naut almost non-stop since the patch. Shen is very good (maybe OP?), but Naut, man, he's just so much fun I can't stand it. CC, eat damage like a boss, don't stop to give a fuck while you're just eating bitches. His skillset just wins fights so hard, hard to fight back when you're all slowed and knocked in the air, not to mentioned grabbed and snared.

Naut seems okay. If I dodge his Q, which isn't too hard cause it moves pretty slow imo, I tend to completely rape him as just about any AD or AP carry. But if he manages to Q on a teammate and get into the middle of our team in a teamfight he seems pretty strong. I think he's good but definitely requires a team to work around him because in my experience his 1v1 sucks. Although lane Naut might work pretty well and his ganks are kind of scary because he surprisingly has a significant amount of burst at early levels.

So wait, why does Doublelift think he can't farm top with an AD carry? Sure he squishy, but he should be able to zone a Rumble Imo. I mean I havn't exactly played the matchup but Kog should get basically free harrass anytime he not last hitting.

But mainly, why don't people play Poppy SO GOD DAMN GOOD!!! How is Poppy disgustingly strong in the laning phase? She's easy to gank, has no pushing power, and lacks sustain. If someone is in position to be hit into a wall you could probably combo them pretty hard, but I really don't see how she can survive without getting zoned horribly early on. The others I agree with, but I think malzahar isn't played as much because his ult is easily countered with QSS and cleanse. Outside of his ult he's pretty mediocre in team fights; there are just too many other good picks to warrant using him imo
Poppy does great vs people who need to be melee to really get in your face (GP/Riven).
Like, trying to autoattack her will result in auto+q -> retreat into minions. Someone like GP can just parrrley her and not stop her from farming at all.
Few items later she 3 shots him and can towerdive solo or with her jungle whenever the fuck she pleases.
She is fine vs ganks with W, passive and ult. Sustain on her is overrated because of W+passive+regen. Really the only big issue I have from the stuff you mentioned is her pushing power. It just doesn't exist. =(
