We are the general population. Hang out here long enough and you will see this certainly is not the case. The average TL player may not be mechanically better than an average pub, but typically they have a MUCH better understanding of the game simply by listening to the shit in this thread.
Hell, I went from 1100-1500 a year ago through pure osmosis. Then once you decide to stop being lazy and actually think for yourself and play seriously you can start climbing again.
@ Cloud- You are WAY behind the hipster train on that one. Once M5 did it he became viable to the general population.

I didn't even know M5 did Mundo. Apparently I am pretty far behind.

every1 in this game is viable
every kit is unique and has strong points and weak points - its just figuring when and how to use the strengths and to minimize the weaknesses that escapes people for some of the "weaker" champions escapes many

Wait, the general consensus now is that Mundo is good? It wasn't even three weeks ago that people considered him only better than Evelynn. The LoL community is so fucking stupid sometimes. Pro team runs a champion whom they all consider trash and suddenly he's viable. Meanwhile I've thought Shyvana and Mundo were both pretty good before M5 ran them. So much hate.

Let's ignore the massive buffs he got, amirite?

Oh, and since I'm actually thinking about something on the general topic- here are my contenders for the next FOTM (having correctly called Morg, Kennen, and Shyv in the past):
Talon: Went from must ban to never picked after these changes: 15 mana on W, 15 seconds on ult, and going to an actual NORMAL hp/mp5 rate. No damage changes whatsoever. Classic case of nerfs and a jump off the bandwagon. With the increasing likelyhood of swapping around lanes, I could VERY easily see Talon return to the forefront on a team that sends a tanky mage top or bot.
Annie: I dont think she will ever return to being considered op, but her map control is incredible early thanks to an absurd aoe burst stun. I honestly cant think about a better character to bring along for buff incursions than a stunbers ready annie. Once people figure out her matchups (I think this is a fault of her falling out of favor just as a bunch of new mages came into play) she will go back to being a very common pick.

Who else do we know doesnt suck and just have to wait on before laughing at the general population.

Trashed a Vladimir with Orianna. Leveled shield first, abused my boots start against his amp+pot by forcing trades everytime he wanted to last hit and his Q was down. 3-4 autoattacks from Orianna, even with only AP from quints and masteries, really hurts early on. Plus you just have to shield yourself whenever you go for a trade and you lose like 60 mana to his 130+ HP. Use the cd to shield ignite and his ult too.
It's probably not really good (tho you're a bitch to gank, Volibear couldn't do it that well event ho I burnt flash several times) but it's hilarious how as a mage you almost don't use offensive spells pre-6/7 and still truck your opponent.

Akali's still decent. Lategame poppy is absolutely disgusting.

Even pre-buff he did okay solo top. I'm assuming people think he's strong from the jungle now and still consider him kind of bad top lane? He's pretty good top lane though, not many champions who can stop him from farming and a farmed Mundo is pretty scary. Not to mention at level 2 he can win a lot of trades with common solo top picks. He may be stronger in jungle, I dunno, I mostly play him solo top and I think he's pretty good there even before his most recent buffs.

Yup, my list of underappreciated champs: Mundo Olaf (though I think he's been appreciated a little recently?) Karma, of course Poppy, dear god Pretty much everyone that was FotM, then got nerfed once. Oh and Amumu still jungles pretty fast, and spellvamp quints on him are hilarious. Seriously. Easiest dragon in the game.

Played Talon on a friend's account since I'm banned. 14 kda ratio from 1k to 1k5 elo. Still have to lose with him. He is seriously absolutely OP if you manage to assert lane dominance or do a successful mid gank (which you can typically do before your first back).
From there on he snowballs like mad, and has soooooo much AoE in teamfights it's not fun.
Oh and Sion is going back to underrated mid. I don't see him banned or picked anymore.

Meh... I still think Mundo is awful. If nothing else, it's because I have yet to see a single Mundo, whether in my games or on a stream that has actually impressed me or make me think that it brought something to the game that another champ couldnt.
Under appreciated champs: Karma Poppy Volibear Kayle (she can be a strong counter-pick or pusher) Lux (as a solo mid)
Under played champs (these guys people agree are good but for some reason I never see them played): Fizz Xerath Wukong

Annie is one of my favorite champions. Her laning phase is still really strong and her gank potential is phenomenal. No idea why people stopped playing her. I guess in tournaments or high level organized play her strengths are diminished a bit but in solo queue she's still crazy strong and always will be unless they nerf her heavily.

He's kinda bland to be honest. I bought him, played him a bit (and badly), found him boring. Fizz I wouldn't want to play just because I hate his E, which I think is an absurd move. Such an easy escape becoming an immunity to skillshots, doubled with wall-jump, gap-closer/escape, and damage. Same with Yorrick. I found him so boring to lane against and mindless mashing that I wouldn't want to play him myself.
And I hate laning against Annie. She's so obnoxious when played aggressively!

actually, i want a teemo skin for nautilus :D
|
Just got crit 5 times in a row by gp. Crit runes yeaaah
|
Is it just me or is Urgot+Soraka super strong. Urgot was pretty beastly before but with new Soraka you can go into defence masteries as secondary +armour seals and rape any bot lane fairly easy.

Nautilus is like exact copy of Leona except Riot changed all the animations and model.
