US players admit mistakes then follow it with an attempted justification argument

Well I like how the Koreans handle the issue as well. According to Locodoco on SOTL their teams treats the player that messed up like shit and makes them feel "inhuman" shaming them so they never repeat the mistake again. Even harsher than the NA arguments from the despcription but "baylife" or "drop it" lets the issue go away. Although TSM is taking steps to improve and do admit their weakness and CLG NA did say they discussed their loss in Korea at length before the stream fighting.

That's a pretty shitty way to handle something.
|
Yeah, what the heck? Besides being bad for team unity, it seems like that would just encourage players to play very cautiously rather than aggressively/taking reasonable risks if they also have to worry about their team treating them like that afterwards.
|
Well I'm not sure how serious they actually take it, maybe Loco could clarify. Obviously if it was literal and the person took it too harshley they wouldn't be able to stay together as a team. EU calm discussion. NA take criticism as personal attack. Korean culture making them more willing to accept critique? Loco said during a previous interview his team would always watch their replays after to look at their mistakes so they will never repeat that mistake ever again. Which is pretty much the same explanation he gave for the "inhuman" treatment.

make mistake-->only rice and kimchi for team lunch next day make big prayzz-->prime kalbi and free soju for the week

Tiger Mother debate, LoL edition.
More seriously, it's hard to view that sort of system objectively as we have our own cultural lenses and motivations. I've known people for whom that kind of system would work extremely well, and people for whom it would be terrible. It's not clear cut.

i mean it's like the more mean spirited former coaching style for the 49ers versus this year's successful encouraging and positive atmosphere
i'm sure both methods work given the right set of circumstances

this game showed us that this is not a snowball game like everyone is saying, and win lane doesnt equal win game. In the early game SK were so much ahead in top and bot and equal in mid and they couldnt simply push this advantages in teamfight in the middle game, after a lot of back in forth there was no one clearly ahead.
Good game and it shows us the true reason why IEM was a snowball fest, TSM and M5 particularly were so much superior.

Fnatic midgame ramblins pretty entertaining plus rage free, spiced with a bit of whining
haha fight at fnatic blue, 4 of them die, then at the aftermath shushei drops a diamond: "I got the blue, somehow"
"well then it was all worth it!"

As some people have guessed the punishment that loco mentioned is typical of korean culture. Didnt watch the sotl myself but it sounds a lot harsher to western ears im sure

M5 vs SK game 2
Volibear top for SK ! Allistar jungle for M5 !

And even the games in the finals were characterized by REALLY shitty decision making by both teams, not straight snowballs. (G2 and G3 were over by the 2 minute mark (well champ select at game 3) for reasons OTHER than gameplay snowball).

What happened to the good ol, you make a mistake, we kick you off team and replace you with the 10000000 other koreans out there who can click as well as you can and we can pay him less than we pay you. ^_^

Alistar jungle is pretty common, Volibear top is interesting though.
