I've been building a few sets since 20 (MPen, scaling mregen, flat CDR - bought health quints about a year ago, immediately before they got nerfed -_-) but I'm trying to branch out beyond just playing support or AP. Sigh I hear you. I did the exact same thing - bought ArPen / MPen / scaling mp5 / flat CDR / health quints exactly one year ago at around level 28 or 29 (so I had no extra IP for anything else), then quit the game. Came back 2 months ago, found out my yellow, blue, and quints are basically useless.

Why do teams never put hard carries like kog or cait on top, to harrass the solo out of the lane and draw the attention of the jungler? Or am i just completely mistaken? Cause your bruiser at bottom would get equally shat on like theirs top, making dragon control much easier for the team with AD+Support bottom. This being said, lane switches have been occurring pretty often as of lately in competetive play. Teleport makes a huge difference, but then again: who wants a ranged AD carry with TP instead of Exhaust? Things you WILL occasionally see top are Corki and Vayne, but that's about it.

Minions follow the aggro rules also--if a minion attacks you because its target died and you were the closest target in range, allied minions in range will aggro to it.

There is no rule that you must have a bruiser on your team. If you dominate top instead of just freefarm for both, teleport isn't as important because the enemy top won't be very strong when he teleports in for Dragon, and you will be strong enough to take top tower if he leaves. There also is no rule that the ranged AD has to take Exhaust. It's good, but not mandatory. Other champs can take it just as well and still exhaust the same enemy at the right time assuming they position properly. Kog isn't soloing top because he will just get crushed by the enemy jungler. Vayne can do a lot better, as does Teemo, but people are just too focused on the current default setup. It takes some thought and flexibility to do other setups. Sadly you can't expect that in solo Q. I'm pretty sure that's not what happened when that cannon minion randomly switched targets to steal a cs. The enemy wasn't close enough to the minion in question to draw aggro from it.

Other champs can take it just as well and still exhaust the same enemy at the right time assuming they position properly. I totally agree that the current meta could need some switching up, and I wish people would experiment with stuff like 2 ranged AD no bruiser. A few things to consider though, in my opinion: - A bruiser usually synergizes better with the rest of your team in teamfights than another ranged carry would (assumption) - The enemy teleporting in might not be very strong, but he is still THERE. It's still a 4v5 or at least a 4v4,5. - Taking the tower might work once, but I doubt the enemy will teleport in with a wave pushing near his 2nd turret. - I know there's no rule for exhaust, but I'm pretty sure you'd gimp your laning heavily without it. Also, relying on someone else to exhaust someone diving you in your usually pretty dynamic teamfight is pretty risky. All those things being said, I do not doubt switching things up could work insanely well. It would probably just need a team practicing this stuff, and that's basically what we lack right now.
