Not sure what is so hard about ranged ADs. Well I guess at lower elos it is a completely different thing, but as soon as fights are somewhat coordinated, it's pretty simple: Run away, get in range of someone who can't retaliate, hit him a bit, run away again.
Any melee has to go in at the right time, on the right target, has to decide whether to keep going or retreat, has to properly balance offense and defense so he doesn't get blown up instantly but still remains relevant.
Casters have to decide which spells to use on which target, whether/when to flash in to blow someone up and other crap.
Support has to keep track of all 10 champions all the time and decide who to save and who he can't save, know who doesn't need his help etc.

Ranged AD is all about positioning. You're fairly useless if all you can ever do is poke at the undying tank or if you get instagibbed by being too far forward.

for whatever it's worth guys, I always win with Akali and Talon, even if I feed (quite often).

@spinesheath
It's that "run away" aspect of it that's hard (at least for me) to get the hang of. I either:
a) Overstay my welcome and die horribly because I'm made out of paper
or
b) Only get 2 hits off and run like a pansy, contributing absolutely nothing to the fight
Until you reach that balance of running in and out and staying safe, you're not contributing to much and possibly just giving kills away. You're also useless without a teammate or two to keep you safe, so for new players who want to kill things, they don't want to sit in a group but try to run ahead and kill something by themselves.

Sometimes as a Ranged AD Cait I feel like im completely useless once a teamfight breaks out and they just insta all go for me and no one gets their cc off until im dead. :[ How far back should I be positioning myself as cait? Like do you want to kinda arrive late to the teamfight with her? I know you want to poke but poking requires you to be somewhat closer and if they go BOOM engage your dead if your tank or w/e doesn't peel.

It would be so incredibly retarded if akali would get nerfed just because of the IPL, basically every single akali sucks so no one really gets a chance to learn what to do vs her. For the guy with the mouse issue, razer salmosa asia edition is quite nice and cheap, iirc tyler has one aswell.

Basically, sit on trap, and hope Akali/Talon/Shaco/Jax/anyone with a jump doesn't decide to brutally murder you because you look like you need a hug to the face. It'll happen anyway, but hoping can work, right?

That only covers one person ;p You kinda explode when you have Akali and GP in your face while your Alister plays the "Never Support, Always Leave Carry" Alister (very common at my elo).

Akali should reach you with jump and then be instagibbed (in solo Q you'll be instagibbed instead though, huehuehue), GP shouldn't reach you.
I, for one, fully embrace any nerfs coming to Talon and Akali.

So I basically took a week-long break from LoL and came back to it while trying to play a lot less than I used to.
I feel like I play so much better o.o I'm overall more observant and have better control.

Yeah I have the same difficulties with ranged AD. Recently switching more and more to an earlyer QSS/Banshees. Since I play mostly tanks/supports I'ts very harsh for me when I predict a tank charging on so I position myself only to realise that the guy is afraid of getting hurt.

The best part is when your team flames you you were focussing the wrong target, because the carry should run trough 3 bruisers/mage/whatever just to kill the enemy carry.

Guys, Poppy > Akali in top lane. Discuss.
Poppy gets Q and E and Akali can't do anything. Poppy's Q does more dmg than Akali's Q, and if Akali shrouds+Q/autoattack, Poppy knocks her out of the shroud plus Q. So Poppy can basically freefarm against Akali.
And farmed/fed Poppy is super scary.

I, for one, fully embrace any nerfs coming to Talon and Akali. In any game that's not 1600+ ELO ranked, people don't understand focus fire or switching targets, so once a teamfight starts, any assassin can just jump in with no fear of repercussion.

Even @ 1600+ elo they don't understand it, just ask saint/jiji/regi:p

My huge gripe about assassins is that its significantly easier to play as them than against them. You have to instantly peel perfectly and then kill them, while they just spam everything and instagib your carry if you don't play perfectly.

What elo Akali did you do this against? :o

Nerfing Akali is sweeping the dust under the rug; the problem is Revolver/Gunblade/WotA. It's basically Innervating Locket all over again.
