You say that like morgana doesn't do well versus almost every other mid lane in the game. Maybe not so much after nerf, but she's still one of the strongest mid lanes at the moment probably. Seeing as she was basically perma ban before the nerf...

He's completely overpowered in any situation where your team can siege something. His lane strength is so-so, but he has longest range in game so you can farm anyway.

Having played two games with Xerath (one on Dominion) I have concluded that he is indeed hella OP.
|
1000 range single target spell that can easily be followed with a 1300 range AoE spell to stun real balanced yo
|
At least he's squishy against AD champions..... oh wait
To be fair, his range is OP but I don't feel his damage is really high enough to be broken.
|
Siege mode triple ulti just obliterates everything.
The insane ammount of magic pen means you really don't have to think much on who you nuke since everyone will feel it.

Idc if someone can poke over a big distance sometimes, there are plenty of champs who can do this allready and magus is good at this no doubt.
his ratios+cooldowns are mediocre as well as his overall burst power if you compare it to common picks. The only thing that really hurts alot is his ult.
right now he feels and looks like a safer to play brand with a bit less damage output.

He's basically a siege tank.. He's great from long range but when someone zerg rushes him he drops like a fly.
That being sad his damage isnt that high with similar items to other casters but he doesn't have to build Mpen because he gets like 30% in siege mode.

All true, and reasons why I think it's a good match-up.
On the other hand though, if Garen lands a Decisive Strike on you (i.e. you misclick, you are half a second late on your root, whatever), you are dead, because you'll eat every spell Garen has.
Perfect Ryze vs Perfect Garen I think Ryze wins every time, I'm just unsure about Fallible Ryze vs Fallible Garen.

Xerath's laning is pretty strong cuase of teh 1k range stun. His mid game is weakish tho cause his base damages are a bit low and his scaling is so-so. Once he gets a good chunk of AP, usually deathcap+one more AP item, he becomes really scary cause his triple ult is so gud.

This also doesn't take into account a flash + decisive strike (out of a bush for example) as it will lead you to being very dead.
If ryze is fallible and garen capitalizes he should win. That being said, it is a lot more common for ryze to be fallible than garen to be fallible (given the simplicity of his skills) so I'd say the lane is most likely decided by the decisions of the ryze

since his ult scaling is 0.6AP x 3 and he has a free 30% mpen, his damage scaling is actually supremely high.
His biggest weakness is of course that he has practically no utility, so while his damage scaling progresses his usefulness to the team doesn't necessarily scale more than a different caster with more cc.

Hell, Chaox had to be linked to the urban dictionary to find out what a "moneyshot" is.

Yeah, that's the combo that usually kills me. I guess the key is just keeping a large distance between yourself and the bush Garen is in, and keeping him at low enough HP that if he bumrushes you, you can win (tough given his regen). If all Garen does is hide in the bush all day, you're in great shape.

Kinda wish you could reset your stats 1 time a season..started off so bad but now ive found my groove it seems and im 22-19 at 1094 elo. Sigh just have to work harder to get to that 1350 elo goal. Consequently I got help from Elo hell by having bad opponents the last 2 games even when I was forced to go cait who im learning but still is subpar with.
