It's not just the team comp. It's also the itemization of the team. Ryze got WotA early, so the team (excepting talon) was healing like hell off their damage, his E also shreds MR so everyone is hitting harder. Udyr got Phoenix Stance over Tiger and Aegis. Galio's ult gives them amazing initiation and sets up the enemy team to eat all of talon's burst (easier to hit everyone with his ult). Maokai got Reverie so everyone could position faster and galio could get better ults off. His ult also made everyone and their mother tanky as balls. Talon shut down anyone who could threaten the team. If you look more closely at the entire team composition, they are all AoE focused (Ryze ult makes him AoE, Phoenix Stance is AoE, Galio's abilities are all AoE, Maokai is AoE, Talon is AoE), but most of the "traditional" AoE contenders (ammumu, morg, nunu etc) aren't there so TSM probably didn't expect it. Lastly, they all build tanky and the regen from WotA and their own innate sustain made them mostly unkillable in teamfights. | ||

I'm also a low ELO noob, but I think with Maokai and Ryze's stun/root and Galio's ult it lets Talon and Udyr pour on the damage without the other team being able to do anything, plus Maokai's ult and Galio's ult are a match made in heaven. | ||
