Bold move just before we get a sneak peak at DotA2, then again it's not going to get release for a while, but I'm thinking adding DotA2 to the circuit would've created more hype then copying ESL's idea with LoL. Maybe it's LoL who's paying?

Zenon! Please tell me you're going to be there!? I think I would have to book a flight to Raleigh right now to meet you, sir.

Slap in the face sounds about right to me.

Finaly. I was about to say the exact same thing, because apparently people only focuses on how much does the winner(s) get(s). Prizepool is higher for lol. That's not essentially bad, it's just higher. I don't get why people are actually arguing "but the winner gets less", like it is relevant in the discussion.

I'll be sure to keep the LoL stream on the side, while blue and red streams aren't running. Congrats MLG, you'll be surprised how many kiddies actually show up on the LoL stream.

don't care particularly, meh. except for the strange price pool.

If you want to get slapped in the face, look to blizzard for not putting up any money for their own game.

I love playing LoL but not really as a spectating sport. HoN and dota are a bit more fun to watch because there are a lot more ganks and generally there is more 'physical'(for lack of a better word) like creep denying and stuff and that makes it more fun to watch. In LoL, the team that gets more ganks in the mid-game team fights generally just wins cause kills give you so much more money than in hon or dota, and you cant creep deny to get an advantage.

Lots of healthy debate here.
Prize money for SC2 has been set for the 2011 season. MLG's policy to date has been to make the prize money per player identical across all titles. That's changing in 2012. But please bear in mind these aren't changes that we can make on the fly. And the 2012 prize money for SC2 will be MUCH larger then they are now.
The League of Legends addition is NEW, so we can implement new policies. And the prize money per player is much smaller than SC2

ty for clarifying (and shutting up all the repetitive debates).

Usually the ganks don't do that much, and the game's mostly about farming nonstop rather than ganking. It's true that high level LoL can feel relatively dull, but there still is decent amounts of action with wardclearing and buff / dragon control, and later on baron control. The current style just seems to be a really safe way of playing, it's likely that sometime in the future there will be changes in the dominant playstyle to make the gameplay braver.

Hopefully this can pave the way for Dota 2 on the circuit :D

i think the real question on most peoples minds is who put up the prize money, mlg or riot :o

im really curious how popular itll be at MLG and whether or not it actually gets the humongous support that Riot has been touting this entire time. I guess its LoL's moment of truth.

I guess its LoL's moment of truth. Yeah this is definitely going to be LoL's trial by fire. But based on some of the numbers that I've heard for previous LoL streams, I think it will do very well... I kind of find myself hoping it doesn't do too well though, as I find DOTA style games to be dreadfully boring to watch. I guess what I'm saying is that I want them to be successful, but I don't want them to take any of SC2's thunder D:
