As far i'm concerned, i don't even play the game, so there's no way i'm gonna watch the stream since I know i won't enjoy watching it. I'm just interested in how things will develop for the competitive scene of LoL on year from now. It feels the main reason for its success is that it's f2p, and the quality of the game comes after (even though it's a great game). I think it should be the other way around for the game to succeed in that competitive environment.

1 FPS,1 RTS and 1 Moba game.I think they are a little bit hesitant with the fighting game because there are so many out there right now and they are not sure yet which one would be optimal for the future.I'd like to see that selectiveness applied here until Dota comes out. Personally i think black ops is just a dead weight right now compared to Halo which is a superior shooter compared to it imo,I think the game will be cut soon from the circuit.I'd hate to see the same thing happen to LoL,if Dota turns out to be the far superior competitive game.

Edit: Have to agree with the person above me to about DoTA 2. Will be interesting to see what happens when it gets launched. Imo it will take a lot of players away from both HoN and LoL. But who knows?

Another problem is that to spectate these kind of games requiresa high level of hero spell knowledge which the usual spectator doesnt have. Thus the game will never be popular amongst those who dont play. The main reason Starcraft 2 has become such a big thing is because even if u dont know anything about it you understand whats going on. Esports have to grow beyond having a "good" "fun" game into having a "good" "fun" and "spectator friendly game" which the majority of people can understand without prior brainstorming to go more mainstream.

I understand that this game is 1000x easier than SC2 so a lot more people play it, but beyond that, I dont understand it. And having playing Dota since 2.0, then trying HoN and LoL... LoL was by far the least competitive one of them all... I dont understand how there are "pros" in this. I understand the draw of Dota and its clones though, because its like an interesting mix between a MMO and RTS in my opinion. Dota/LoL/Hon is like playing a mmorpg. Getting levels, getting gear, killing people. Its like any MMO with PvP but lvling/experiencing all content takes place in an hour. And its an RTS because it is about your strategies/positioning/control. MEH IDK tho, to be honest I am just stoked for Dota 2, because DotA with updated graphics will easily stomp all over LoL and HoN, which are just imitations, but with better graphics/interface above Dota. Once DotA2 has these, these 2 games are going to disappear/cut DRASTICALLY in size/player base. To be honest the only reason LoL picked up so much attention/so many players was because it was completely free. I have friends who dont even know what Dota is, who play LoL because it was free, and saw the ad on facebook.

The amount of heroes and balance issues along with items and skills makes it infinitely more difficult to have anything but a completely basic understanding of anything in LoL/HoN for a casual watcher.

Many of the current LoL fanbase: 1) Are casuals and have such a) Not played DotA before b) Have little intention of playing DotA 2. 2) Have invested time and money into LoL and as such have no incentive to switch 3) Play the game primarily with their friends, so they have no incentive to switch either. DotA 2 will likely draw the "hardcore" crowd from HoN, DotA 1 and higher level LoL into its folds, but the casual scene of LoL is very loyal to its game.

In addition, LoL has an entire set of mechanics (runes and masteries) that appear to not be translating into DotA 2. LoL and HoN/DotA are fundamentally very different games, so I don't expect LoL to wither from DotA's existence.

League of Legends has an extremely loyal following how else do you think they pull off such high viewership end of the day its all about popularity sc2 for example sc2 gains alot of popularity money follow more players follow skill level raises to keep up with compatition you could easily see this type of trend happen with LoL also there is no Denying? so i dont see Dota/hon having such a unique jungle system there's alot of depth that LoL's jungle gives the game that you simply dont see with Dota/Hon people really dont take this into consideration
