Welcome to the internets.
To be completely honest, LoL's community really isn't that bad. It's not as fanatic as SC (read: TL) obviously but there are trolls in every gaming community.
Lately, the worst LoL experience I've been getting lately is solo q'ing in normal and getting 1-3 players that don't talk at all or can't speak English. Other than that, nothing blatantly harassing.

Actually i meet more mannered players than in SC2. In SC2 half of the games ended with no GG or "wtf your race is so easy, you don't deserve the win" (i played random -.-" ) while in LoL i get the "bg" or flaming like once in 10 games maximum. People in LoL aren't usually mean if you are humble, but i guess if you like to argue then yeah, most of them won't be nice (like if you do stupid dive and die and someone says "wtf you doing ashe" and you respond with "shouldn't have done that, sry" most of the players will just be fine with this, but if you respond with "i had him but he got lucky so stfu" then you are just asking for a flame war)

Damn wrong thread.~~ editr

Even when you win, you get more rage from your own team than from the other team lolol But most people are quite nice if you take the initiative to be friendly. Otherwise the nice people stay quiet and only the ragers talk and it goes downhill really quickly.
Don't go on the official LoL forums though, that place is a mess

I'm pretty sure I yell more at other LiquidParty players when we 5 man, than I do in solo pugs.
TL so heavy. zz

Yea I guess I'll have to stop visiting their forums. I suppose that is where a lot of it is coming from.

I also avoid serious TLers, some of them get mad even in normals. I personally dislike ragers, even if I'm not the one being raged at, and even if the person being raged at deserves it. I just played a game with a corki who was great, who laned with a sona, that wasnt so great. She deserved the criticism, but still made me just ignore everyone in the game. I usually stop talking and play worse at that point,
also no 7th place match in the Dreamhack, anyone have any reasons why it was removed from schedule?

I never rage unless I am playing with irl friends, tru story. I'm such a saint.

I definitely hated the LoL community more than SC2 but people have some good points so I don't know lulz

Haha, I am glad someone brought that up. MOBA communities are the cesspool of gaming. The game seems designed to make you feel too awesome about yourself the way a FPS does in my experience, but unlike an FPS where you still get the same amount of enjoyment even if you do bad or even your team. Going 30-5-10 is the best feeling in the world. There is nothing that will make you feel so high and mighty than leading your 4 team mates in a charge with you being covered in glory and dominating 5 other REAL people who are humiliated and defeated easily at your appearance. As a result, even a white knight like me can get cocky and arrogant and get tempted to blame people for things that was clearly my fault.
|
My last game was sudden attack and 1v5 saving with sniper is much more enjoyable than going 18-1-30 with alistar, but that's just me.

I think it's partly to do with the sheer size of the community. There are millions of MOBA players out there, so I guess there's a lot of people just trying to be big fish in a big pond.
Or maybe it's because the genre has just exploded relatively recently and real communities (with history) haven't been established yet.

Well the DOTA community was also pure shit, maybe even worse then LoL.
I think it comes with the genre and how another players poor performance directly influences not just your odds off winning or losing but your own performance.
If someone else dies a hundred times to a Singed then you aren't going to be able to do damage against a Singed. If your ally can't play SC2 for shit your units will still do the same damage against the enemy.
Bad players make you feel like a bad player and i think that really pisses people off. That and it's teamgame by definition so it's always more likely to enrage people then a game where you can be pro solo.

Yes and I think that's why a lot of people that only play solo games like SC2 or whatever have a hard time understanding why LOL and other games are competitive or even worth playing. The basic mechanics might be easier, but actually getting 4-5 people that get just GET ALONG TOGETHER, is nearly impossible. Then you have to get everyone on the same page, and keep them on the same page. It's not as simple as having great mechanics and understanding, you can't force thoughts into your team mates brains(yet!!!). I played Halo competitively for 6 years, went to MLGs, played local events constantly, etc.. and individual skill means nothing at top level of play. Absolutely nothing.
Team games are... team games, and are a lot different from something like starcraft.

I think LoL's numbers speak for itself along with the fact that the most successful games/sports have pretty much always been team games.
