"Summoners!

We wanted to let you know that we're postponing our latest patch by one day. We discovered a few bugs late in our development process, and rather than give you a substandard patch, we had to take an additional day to get things right. We plan to have the patch ready today so we can deploy in the early morning hours tomorrow, on Friday, July 8. We didn't know until today that this would be the date for the patch.

We will have a patch preview video accompanying this patch. Should the day of the patch change, we will let you know immediately. We apologize for not informing you earlier, but as mentioned before, we identified these bugs only recently. We want only to deliver the best experience possible to you, and we want to take extra time to make sure everything is perfect.

Thank you for understanding, and thank you for playing League of Legends!"

They are postponing it again, and we have no idea of when season 2 will start. However as well Phreak is leading us to believe we will be getting a nice detailed post about all of the patch notes etc tonight.

goddaaaaaaaamn

just played 4 games as mordekaiser. carried the hell out of my team each time.

deathcap --> lichbane is sooooooo much damage. Q literally deals over 1000. Ult is over 60% of their maximum HP, and it lifesteals it to you.

all 4 abilities scale with AP, passive is basically 30% spellvamp. wow.

So, I'm on mega tilt lately, losing game after game after game when I got to thinking...
I haven't really improved beyond 1350 in quite a while.
In fact, as soon as I started playing ranked seriously I got to 1350 and pretty much stuck there.

Then thinking about all of my other friends as well as other TL members that I know....my question is this:

Does anyone REALLY improve?

Theoretically speaking it sounds like a stupid question, but then again, what players do you know that have gotten better over time?
I don't want to mention names but of the bunch of TL members I know, none of them have really increased their elos any at all that I can think of, and I'm pretty sure that includes the 'unofficial' TL team.

All of the high elo players that we know of all reach their high elo on multiple smurfs and stick there. How many 'new' high elo players have cropped up over time, slowly improving their game, crawling their way through the 1500-1600s to make their way up to 2200? (Note: I meannot eventually reaching their true elo, rather actualyl belonging at 1500, and slowly improving until they ar better than those players.)

I understand what I must do to improve, the leadership, the proper mechanic,s the not raging, yet I just can't seem to put it into practice beyond a certain level. I doubt I have gotten any better in the past 6+ months.

Any thoughts on this matter?
How much have all you TLers improved your game? What are your experiences?

Me! I know I definitely improved. I hit a wall around 1300, stuck there for several agonizing weeks. Realized everyone else sucks and carried myself out. Now I'm trying to break 1600. Got elo decayed down to 1400, then the HUGEST string of shitty luck (5 leavers in a row, with 2 for-real trolls, honestly...) and now I'm trying to claw my way back.

I have some friends who refuse to solo q and only duo q. They're about 50-100 elo higher than me 'cause they pretty much only duo q.

I am WAAAAY better than I was a while ago. I haven't improved much over the last year, but I also haven't been trying very much. I've been experimenting and playing normals with TLers.

I got worse. I was terrible at this game already and then I played nothing but support for a while so I can't last hit anymore, among other things. I also stopped looking at the minimap and paying attention. MAH BAD

There are at least 2 distinct tiers i have found so far.

1st: "Elo Hell"- This is around 1000-1200. People know how to get kills, but not how to win. Common symptoms include constant rage, blaming your feeding teammates, and having awesome laning phases that still end in defeat. Cure: Experience, learning how to make calls, learning what wins games.

2nd: 1400-1600- This is the "I Know What The Hell Im Doing But I Cant Pick On Noobs And Get Fed Anymore" tier. People know how to win, but then run into the wall where they arent quite good enough to carry against people who know what they are doing. Cure: Getting REALLY good at laning, ie last hitting, not giving up meaningless kills to jungles, ect.

if you play through your bad spurts youll come out better than before.

you are better, it just feels like you are worse. I went through this a lot playing counterstrike but when I looked back on replays I saw that even playing bad 6 months later I was doing things better. it was little solace, but it was true.

you always FEEL worse than you are, but you always THINK youre better than you are.

and you will have periods where no matter what you do you'll lose. I went through that; it's depressing to have a ridiculously good early game and watch your team give it away but you play through it and you learn.

This person "Hepodex" is someone I used to queue and play with back in last years august - October or so. He was like 1400-1500 elo and pretty bad, now he's 2000+ elo and pretty good I'd say

Kerp started playing last years June, he was pretty bad and only knew how to jungle Yi, last years November or so he was 1650 elo or so and knew how to play somewhat but wasn't that great, now he's 2250 elo.

People obviously do improve.

I'm a bit disappointed that the only thing they mentioned about the patch is that Leona won't be coming out with it. Really curious to see why they are having a massive problem with teleport. This patch is going to be huge.

How much have all you TLers improved your game? What are your experiences?

my journey from nobody to somebody
started playing last may
demolish every1 with free champs till i hit level 12 or something due to 4 years of dota :3
i knew from the started i wanted to play either ap or ad carry in the game since i played a carry in dota and i hate supporting
i stuck with ad since twitch was free that week and i really liked him
went forum surfing a bit and learned corki was op!
checked his price on the store and realized he was 6300 -.-;;
after more forum browsing some1 said trist is like corki but worse
so i picked up trist~
and from there it was all a blur
kept rising till i started going vs jiji, taburiss, judge, chau, lilballz premade
i kept adding them but they never accept
got mad and made my own premade to beat them~
nyxnyxnyx,denace,valldor,blmz,me
we did really well and it accomplished what i wanted
1.beat jiji premade multiple times
2.get high elo snobs to add me
3.get invited to play with jiji premade :>
about a week or two before season 1 started i got put on waiting list at a college art college i really really wanted to get into
so i stopped playing and devoted most of my time to art
sadly i didnt make the cut and i went back to playing lol about a month or two into season 1
i crushed through 1200 -> 1600 pretty easily with trist
after that it was a slow climb to 1800 duoing with various people
than i hit a big wall
i couldnt get gold elo(1875) no matter what i did
so i took a step back re-evaluated my game and started to really think about why i lost and how to get better
a week or two after that i went from 1850 to 1950 in a few days
that was around 20th place on ladder back than an its when i started forming my first serious team
Heko 4 Council
the original members of heko 4 council

loco
atlanta
saintvicious
asier
heko
zirun

we didnt acomplish much and we broke up after neweggs
and thats when i started streaming
at first it was for TL people mostly
than regi invited me to stream for tsm and i agreed~
fast forward a month or two
regi dont wanna play with clg cuz he dont like hsgg
and he wants me to make a team so he can meet me at season 1 finals
the first person i ask is saintvicious
of course he says yes
regi says he can get oddone to jungle for us and that we should talk to chaox
chaox is in
odd is in
we look for a 5th and chaox and saint really like feedfest
so we get feedfest
hsgg asks me to stream for clg
i tell him no
regi hears about it
regi leaves clg and joins tsm
fast forward another 2 months or so
marcou tells me i cant play with tsm for season 1 finale so i leave
and its all down hill from there l0l
the only real interesting thing that happens after that is me making 2 bad choices
1. i leave team maknoon to join team op
2. i get kicked out of team op cuz i argued with ggumy and manyreason
so im not on either team for wcg zzz
than again im on the waiting list for that sameschool from last year and this time im balancing gaming and art ! :>

tl : dr - loco was gonna tell some tl noob how to improve but he writes random shit about what happened during last 2 years of playing lol

What are your experiences?

my journey from nobody to somebody
started playing last may
demolish every1 with free champs till i hit level 12 or something due to 4 years of dota :3
i knew from the started i wanted to play either ap or ad carry in the game since i played a carry in dota and i hate supporting
i stuck with ad since twitch was free that week and i really liked him
went forum surfing a bit and learned corki was op!
checked his price on the store and realized he was 6300 -.-;;
after more forum browsing some1 said trist is like corki but worse
so i picked up trist~
and from there it was all a blur
kept rising till i started going vs jiji, taburiss, judge, chau, lilballz premade
i kept adding them but they never accept
got mad and made my own premade to beat them~
nyxnyxnyx,denace,valldor,blmz,me
we did really well and it accomplished what i wanted

Far more interesting imo.
But the thing I got out of that was your 4 years of DotA experience. Obviously you're going to rise through the ranks pretty easy with that....

I don't even know why I'm so concerned though...having surgery soon and won't be able to play for like a month soon, then starting optometry so no more time for games when there's RL to do.

You never THINK you have enough time for lol, then you find yourself making time. Hence my playing lol when I should have been writing my senior thesis.

Here's a better explanation of the patch delay, from RiotDaemon here:

Let me briefly explain why the decision to delay the gameplay aspect part of the patch occured.

There was a bug with teleport that in a small number of games, the teleport spell would flat out not work at all. As most people who pick teleport in higher elo games, base their strategy around having that teleport, it pretty well damns them and rightly would make them angry.

Now there are three aspects that changed relating to teleport. The first is the lua file which Maketa mentioned. The second was a ward change that relates to how teleport works with it. The third is an item change that could also relate to teleport in a way that requires significant explanation. Any or a combination of those 3 changes could have led to the teleport change.

Now some possible scenarios.

1. Release the patch anyway with a known significant issue. This would cause some small percentage of games to be effectively ruined by something out of players control. It would make those people furious.

2. Disable summoner teleport. This would take more time to test (delaying the patch), and it would make everyone who uses teleport furious and could lead to some imbalanced team compositions in high elo ranked and make those people also angry.

3. Yank all 3 of the changes and hope for the best. This tactic has been done before and it usually leads to other bugs as many things are updated together and reverting some change leads to unintended consequences that have ended up being fairly significant. In various forms this has happened since I have worked at Riot and they have always been the patches with the most angry players. Based upon experience, this could be the worst option.

4. Delay the content while we work on a fix.

Now before anyone asks "why can't riot always explain that", it can very very easily turn into a "well why didn't you do x", and it is impossible to respond to that because it often requires explaining something else we don't want to explain, many people may not understand even if it was explained, and many decisions would make people unhappy regardless of how it is handled. It leads into a situation where you hang yourself accidently even if you try to share everything you possibly can and be as honest as possible. You guys read the official forums, would you want to debate in that environment?

Except we know Amumu does ridiculous damage, lol. And Amumu is borderline OP anyways, along with being IMO the single strongest initiating "tank" tank.

He isn't on US because people don't think he is a carry and don't get ap items after core.

There are at least 2 people playing lanemumu on US. One of them is me.

He's so much fun.

i just...don't get lanemumu? can you explain? perhaps a mini guide?
