For the game: I don't think EDG has a chance to win this, tbh.
we saw eStar pick leap couple times throughout this tournament.

I actually think Cloud 9 can play really fun to. Most fun foreigner team for sure in my book. So sad though, their map 3 in their first match. It just looked like a very very bad move by cloud 9 kinda throwing their lead into a lose in 3min~

50% first pick win rate is surprising and great. I dunno what to make of the blue/red... it almost seems too much to be a coincidence O.o
Lunara, Brightwing and Cho'gall on the bench surprises me a lot, considering their previous popularity.

They invited MVP Black into Gold Series? WOW

I suppose you can thank China taking 2nd at the Spring Championship and winning WCS for this news. They're ready to show to the home crowd that they can beat Korean teams (and they might be right given how well the Chinese teams have been performing lately, albeit in Asia).
Plus who doesn't want to see the world champs, they can't sweep the podium by themselves this time lol.

nah Black going to stomp everyone again and China will go back to inviting C9

Wasn't C9 treated poorly with regards to tech setup to put them on tilt? Could the same happen to Black, or is the assumption that the culture shock will be lessened for them due to proximity?

It's possible, but Korean teams have played there in the past with no problems (afaik and with the huge caveat that they did it under Chinese sponsorship).
Also, some of the issues sounded like C9's own fault, but that's just my impression so i won't get into it.
Although, Korean teams do have a big advantage in being able to play back on Kr server, so they don't have to rely on Chinese practice partners.

OK, just now realized you can't watch heroes of the dorm's finals without cable. sigh.

All the matches were one sided sweeps.

I'm watching through slingtv, which has a free trial. Yesterday they restreamed it afterwards on twitch on the blizzheroes channel, so they might do that again today.
Is anyone doing a twitter LR for this? I thought xeno did a great job last year, is he doing it again?
edit: twitter feed for espn2 https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=news&q=espn 2&src=typd It's not as funny as last year because people are complaining about Kobe so less time to complain about video games on espn.

Unfortunately slingtv option isn't working for me Really stupid that they would screw over the esports community when trying to appeal to the sports/ tv community. No reason we can't accommodate both groups. Why wouldn't they also have a normal/ Twitch stream/ restream for this?

so one sided

Honestly when watching the re-stream there were lots of things that were kind of a let-down production-wise. Nothing on the minimap but red and blue dots, no talents shown, etc. It was really hard to follow what was going on in the game except for seeing who won teamfights.
So, this isn't really targeted at us as a demo at all. I guess it's fine to have some tournaments that are gateway events meant to bring new faces in, but it kind of sucks that bliz made such a big deal of the bracket challenge given that.

Yeah I just watched yesterday's final four, and wtf was with those minimaps? Are we just assuming that the new viewers are utterly retarded? Squares and circles, no merc camps, hardly any other hero information. Fortunately, Tastosis still brought the hype
I had to laugh though when game one was insta-paused >.> rofl

From what I remember from last year, ESPN has pretty strict requirements for what the UI is allowed to look like (UI can only take up so much space, etc.). So I wouldn't be surprised if the UI was the best they could do given ESPN contraints.
