Khaldor is casting Enter the Storm NA, and Bob Ross Fan Club(Zuna and Arthelon are on that team) just had really stupid victory over Murloc Geniuses.

Yeah seriously, Murlocs had an autowin and then just... lol.

Where did compositions like Leoric/Arthas/Kael'thas/Raynor/Morales go? In my head, they still seem like the strongest, 2 bruisers/tanks with 2 strong damage dealers and a healer. Don't they work anymore, or is it just fashionable to go Tyrande/Tassadar/Falstad these days?

Whenever I see MG I feel like they are trying to force some pick into their draft...
Even at Blizzcon qualifiers they were trying out Thrall and Rexxar and it didn't work at all. Not saying that it won't work now since Thrall is in much better place, but still their drafts really do seem random.

I just don't get this at all. With Uther they would have a divine shield for ETC, Sonya and Thrall (and additional stun for even more lockdown). They take Malfurion instead and still conjurer's pursuit on Jaina. Maybe I'm just way too scrub to understand it.

I don't know what it is about the Bob Ross team, but their opponents consistently do the stupidest shit like inappropriately baserace and throw away the game. Yesterday it was the Murloc Geniuses, and today it was Team Blaze. Such utterly dumb plays.

well Malf would be okay ... but not if there is a Zagara who will just gobble his ult up. I think they wanted to deny the other team Malf, because Malf would have been insane for the enemy. But Uther would have been as insane on their side.

As for the conjurer on Jaina, seems like pros currently blindly go for one build, so they can train with a larger hero pool. One reason why Valla is almost extinct.

Uh where did you get this from? I've seen a lot of different Jaina's builds lately in the pro scene. From that Frostbolt spam, to the standard build and hybrid between frostbolt and standard. It is just that people are still people, they make errors and often make oversights.

Also, Valla is not extinct at all, it is just that Falstad is currently doing the same thing while also having massive disengage heroic that can save your whole team if used correctly at the right time.

I was really bored with the Dreamhack and hero pool that we saw being used there, but at least these NA qualifiers gave me some hope that patch still isn't figured out yet. We are waiting too long for some Korean tournament.

Ye the picks from dreamhack was really boring. We need more heroes to be standard.

There definitely wasn't a lot of experimentation by the time that the semi-finals and finals rolled around. Most of the picks were fairly vanilla in that the same 10-15 heroes were constantly picked and banned.

getting that impression especially from ult choices. Jaina is an exception since she is used almost constantly and while she has many builds some work rather similarly. But even on Jaina you don't see to much variety if you only watch one player.
Its not everyone, but its annoying to see it being so widespread lately.
Of course that is personal opinion I like playing the right talents, not the ones I feel good with. And those guys train together, so switching it up just because the enemy composition went other then planned, might ruin their coordination.

I didn't watch the entire thing but it certainly felt like the Falstad show towards the end. Also, it turned out Tyrael's reign was short lived, which isn't that surprising. Teams just had to retrain their instincts to back off after hard engaging rather than sticking it out until the bitter end. Which is something they've already shown they can do with mistimed Divine Palms (it's funny watching a palmed hero rushing headlong into the enemy team trying to get a proc).

Not just towards the end, I am pretty sure that Falstad was banned/picked in every match lol.

You're probably right. I only watched 2 games or so during the group stages and recall seeing him then too.

Edit:
Actually here's an infographic, doesn't have Falstad anywhere!
http://www.g2esports.com/dreamhack-all-stars-winter-infographic/

I did see another one that had Tyrael as bottom-3 win-rate too.

The infographic has Falstad picked 28 times and banned 3, only surpassed by KT with 34 picks and 2 bans, and ETC with 28 picks and 8 bans.

Yeah lol, he has been top 3 pick, almost in 100% of the games in one way or another. :D

Koreans are well known for experimenting and doing more interesting Hero combinations. For instance, Koreans were doing ETC and Santification Tyreal long before it caught on in NA/EU. NA and EU tend to get stale after the meta settles and stick to fairly limited Hero pools and strategies.

Also, I just think the Koreans play very aggressively, and that makes them very interesting to watch.
