Yeah, I wish I had an answer to the Warrior question, but I've never had a successful Warrior draft when the weapons don't show up. I agree with you that having a useless hero ability is what kills. I had a Mage deck last week that didn't have any of the good Mage class cards - no Flamestrike, no Fireball, no Polymorph, none of the good rares/epics, etc. I still managed to go 7-3 because of the OP hero ability and my neutral minions.

Deck.
First win, somewhat easy. And lucky because I put myself behind with missclicks. Loss: mirror match-up, 'cept I manage to only draw shit save for 2 cards with a mulligan and the first 3 turns, so it gets to later and the other guy has Molten Giant and Sea Giant. Uh. 0K. Loss: Even after Mulliganing, there is nothing but my hero power I can play for the first 4 turns. I play something on turn 5 using the coin. Argent Commander was waiting for me on turn 6 but nope. Usually I avoid getting mad but that one was 100% RNG and it really fucking frustrates me. The Hunter didn't have shit either, it's just he had something while I had nothing at all. Loss: to a Hunter. I had some shitty draws, but I made mistakes in the end.
So I had a decent deck and went 1-3 because I'm bad and some really wtfbullshit RNG. Urgh. Not satisfied at all.

So... WTF?
I thought they fixed the disconnect issue in Arena? I just started a game, then on Turn 2 I disconnected for some weird reason. I didn't lose my internet or anything since I immediately tried to browse after the disconnect.
Then now I come back to play within a minute and it give me an auto-lose... What was the fix the patch implemented?

._. I'm super dumb. Here instead.
I guess I combo'd "tricked by the cattlebruiser" and "forgot I put a spoiler tag on that thing".

Probably would've chosen + Show Spoiler + 10. Alexstraza MAY have been a better pick than ysera because you're running 3 weapon attacks 1/3 of the way through the draft. I think this one is preference though. 11. 2 deadly poisons and one assassin's blade already. At 2 HP per attack incoming, that's 16 incoming damage from that alone(I mean you can stack them to trade up, but that generally also means you're taking more damage). Definitely would've gone with harvest golem. 12. Really not a fan of dragonhawk as a card. Can't really trade with anything without a buff, and doesn't do anything vs hero power damage. I think I would've chosen sap here, because the silverback is kinda bad. 14. I think you underestimate assassinate. At this point if somebody gets something big on the board, you can't deal with it without throwing bodies at it. 20. BGH>prep. Even if you did pass assassinate, BGH can come out huge. Insta-kills venture co(quite common), and a lot of other cards. It's not a terrible card either even if you're forced to put it on the board without nuking something. 22. You're 22 cards into the draft(maybe 1-2 spells left generally speaking), and somewhat short on minions. I would've taken the ogre. 23. snapjaw or grizzly. You're really short on minions at this point 29. I probably would've taken either novice or dark iron. Shadowstep is really situational, works nice with sis and a few other cards in your deck, but you need card draw/buffs right now.

I just lost to a mage deck with the following: 3 flamestrikes, 1 blizzard, 1 frostbolt, 1 cone of cold, 2 fireballs, 2 frostbolts, 1 arcane missle, 1 polymorph
He also used a Mind Control Tech to take one of my minions (I was pally and ofc he missed the summon).
There were 3 turns where he LITERALLY let the time run out to make me THINK that he was dead or afk or d/c'd and so that I would play out ALL my best units, but I didn't take the bait and played slowly. He then comes back and flamestrikes, followed by 2 more and a blizzard. I lose by fatigue.
that means OVER 1/3 of his deck was just spells. He had no monsters on the board most of the game.

Just played my first arena run since they changed it to 12 wins and I went 12-2. I have only ever reached max wins 1 before, I screenshotted the deck if anyone wants to see it. Opened the packs and still have not gotten a legendary... One day..
Should mention it was a warrior if that means anything.

This was one of the weirdest decks I've drafted. Only 2 legit 2-drops were offered the entire draft, and I passed on the Pyromancer early for an Argent Commander. There weren't even any Bluegill Warriors or Loot Hoarders to choose from :/ I thought I'd get too far behind early to win, but Truesilver Champion and Consecration are just too good at pulling you back from an early deficit. 420g and 2 packs for this 12-1.

Did you play against a warrior named zoltrix in your run? I swear I played your deck but might be mixing it up I played like 5 paladins. Jealous of your drops I got 230g a gold starfall 2 random rares and a pack for 12 wins this was my deck

Wow that's nuts, crazy mana curve but still 12-1... Do you normally get good arena runs (7+ wins?)

Another 4-3 paladin run. Draft was meh, only 1 concecration. Went 4-0 and then 0-3, annoyingly enough most of my arenas go like that. Win X amount and then lose 3 in a row
|
First I had an awful 0-3 run because I built the worst shaman deck ever made. As penance I spent real money for the first time and got the shiny 'you spent real money' card, and tried again.
This time I was able to make a nice aggressive mage deck, and despite a disconnect costing me one game, went 10-3. Yay.

Yeah I think I've improved enough to go infinite in arena and the new reward system helps a lot. The ability to get 300-400 gold makes it a lot easier to cushion for the occasional sub-7. Your really good decks sometimes pay for 2 arena runs where they couldn't before. My gold's been steadily increasing since the patch and I'm up to ~2400 as you can see.

Drafted this + venture co, siphon soul x2, argent commander, infernal and frost elemental + Show Spoiler +
4 wins so far, but one of them was free from a rogue who made....questionable choices such as giving my spellbreaker combo'd cold blood(??) and not killing it(????)
I think this is one of the stronger warlock decks I've drafted so far. Tink+impmaster/boar is a lot of fun as well.
zzzzzz and then you run into some ludicrous openers and end up going 5-1 =(.

So I may have drafted my best Paladin deck so far without Legendaries... I'll start my run tomorrow though. Most picks were clear-cut choices, except maybe the Abusive Sergeant over Eye for an Eye (the other card was a Murloc buffer).
I also hesitated a bit with picking Bloodsail Raider over another Argent Protector. I figured I had 4 different weapon cards, so it might get some good value. I love Divine Shield buff though and usually come in handy.
Is Eye for an Eye a good enough secret? I usually ignore it... Anyway here is the deck:
+ Show Spoiler +
Wish me luck for a 9+ wins (my current best is 9 wins)! What do you guys think my chances are?
|
Abusive Sergeant is definitely the right choice over Eye for an Eye. Eye for An Eye is awful; the secret can be played around, and its effect is almost always negligible. The sergeant, on the other hand, can be used to help a minion make a good trade.
|
Yeah Abusive Sergeant is especially good in Shaman and Paladin decks.
Eye for an Eye is terrible, the only good (?) use I found for it is in conjunction with weapons: play the secret, attack an 8/8 minion, take 8 damage AND deal 8 damage to the opponent. Wohoo!
