Staying at rank 20 is easily the quickest way to get gold and cards (100 gold in an hour and a half is pretty hard to beat even if you're a god in the arena). There is actually no reason to rank up so I wouldn't worry too much about that since you're not in a position to go legend right now. Yes it sucks you have to do this but Blizzard doesn't realise just how broken the economy is right now so it will take a while for it to be fixed.

Well you don't have to do that but it's a quick for everyone method of gaining gold.
Personally I find the sweet spot for earning with that method is rank 16 there's too many people with the same idea at rank 20 and aggro vs aggro is super draw based.

Less gold farmers is actually a disadvantage since you aren't getting free wins. The more gold farmers at rank 20 means you get instant wins quicker which is why the fastest gold cap time is so low and is going to keep getting lower the more people that farm at 20.

Mind control tech should just have it's effect renamed to "100% chance to steal your opponent's best card," because I cannot recall a time it hasn't.

Playing Priest vs Priest, the game goes as normal with both of us playing blademasters and circle of healing. I manage to get a slight edge with shadow madness and alchemist things are looking good.
He's played thoughtsteal and mind vision, turn 8 he plays ragnaros. I play faceless manipulator and SW death.
He plays two faceless manipulators my rag dodges both of his rags. I then SW death his ragnaros and my ragnaros kills his ragnaros.
He plays two more faceless manipulators that he stole from my hand earlier and bring my health low, I fish for some cards and get nothing and he plays one more ragnaros, his ragnaros.
That's 7 ragnaros.

My last 4 paladin draft have been "get a truesilver or a consecrate at most. Not both, no more than one."
This run (with a Priest) I've face 3 Paladins.
One of them had 3 consecrate.
Another one had 3 Truesilver, a Sword of Justice, 2 consecrates, 2 Guardians of Kings.
Third one had Truesilver, Sword of Justice, Avenging Wrath, 3 Argent Protectors and at least one consecrate. Also boulderfist and frostwolf so he can make use of all these divine shields to keep his board full and buff questing adventurer and frostwolf to infinity.
But Arena isn't skewered by shitty RNG all the time from draft, nope.

I've played against someone who drafted almost the perfect Murloc deck warleaders and all. RNG is a bitch is the moral of the story

I just played vs a shamen with 4 fire elementals, I can't deal with that. Once it hit turn 6, I had no way to keep board advantage.

Got a pretty good warrior draft. 3 fire axes and 2 weaponsmiths + great minions and a decent curve, so I expected to go AT LEAST 7 wins. Then I played 2 Rogues when I was 4-1 and both have argent commanders and leeroy, both finished me when I already had lethal the following turn... and now I'm at about 65 gold because the game always give me useless dust and cards I can't use to enter the arena and have to wait 2 days for 2 40 gold dailies until i get smashed again by no-luck-all-skill drafts.

Second last arena draft had a no spells 1 four-drop shaman, followed by a no consecrate/weapon 1 three-drop Pally. Pretty demotivating to play with such drafts...

Yeah, it's like that sometimes, even the opening decks look brutal sometimes. Seems to me that arena is based around the amount of "imba" cards you get to draft. After five wins or so, I basically only get to see mages (at least two flamestrikes and some fireballs/frostbolts/polymorphs), paladins (at least two truesilvers, most likely consecration and avenging wrath), shaman (at least 2x hex, 2x fire elemental)... maaaybe a swipe-everything druid.
