As an old white/blue MtG player, I feel very comfortable with the control styles in Hearthstone, will probably work on a decent priest control deck as well. I think Mage is a good deck to start out with though, it seems like the basic cards are enough to have a lot of options and just a bit of luck keeps you going. Nothing more fun than being in a hopeless position where you have 2 life and no minions and no cards, your opponent has 3 minions of which some have taunt, but he has low life. Your turn, you pick the gnome which lets you pick up another card. You place it, get a fireball, win. This happened to me, it's quite fun to GG, place a card just to see what you get, and win. Nice, it's good that it transitions over well :D I'd be interested to know if there's any solid use for a life gain deck, since it was an infuriating tactic when used correctly in MtG, but in HS it seems to be a bit lacklustre. Any other solid MtG style mechanics or equivalents that you've found?

Any other solid MtG style mechanics or equivalents that you've found? I think lifegain is suboptimal in Hearthstone because of several reasons... For one, you can't heal past 30 with normal heals, only +hp cards. Second, there's not too many cards which let you do this. Third, there's only 30 cards in a deck, so you can't have too many cards focusing on lifegain, you need to be able to kill your opponent before card fatigue ruins you. As for other MtG concepts, I'm sure there are a ton which work out, but I don't have much experience outside of control decks, so I can't comment on how well they transfer.

Ahh, I didn't realise heals and +health were different, that makes a lot more sense now. Thanks! Is the same true for Minions? (I'll stop asking after this, since I'm taking it a bit off topic, sorry :s)

It seems a lot of people don't know this though, played a guy yesterday who used the paladin heal 6 card on his 6/6 with full life. Obviously, nothing happened. That's just hilarious.

Although curiously enough I just spent the last two days watching totalbiscuit's lord of the arena from episode 1-22 and here I find a beta key! You must have Opt'ed in for everything forever ago! First thoughts are that it is nice playing a game that looks nice and sounds nice. It makes quite a big difference from playing Solforge.
