I must say Mage is very fun, both aggro and control. As an old white/blue MtG player, I feel very comfortable with the control styles in Hearthstone, will probably work on a decent priest control deck as well. I think Mage is a good deck to start out with though, it seems like the basic cards are enough to have a lot of options and just a bit of luck keeps you going.
Nothing more fun than being in a hopeless position where you have 2 life and no minions and no cards, your opponent has 3 minions of which some have taunt, but he has low life. Your turn, you pick the gnome which lets you pick up another card. You place it, get a fireball, win. This happened to me, it's quite fun to GG, place a card just to see what you get, and win.
