If TIMES wanted to sell more papers- they should just put Barak as #1 becasue of course he IS the BESTEST PRESIDENT EVER!
Well iirc the list they issue out on their printed release will be ranked according to Times staff, the list posted here is going to stay on the internet.
Lol I don't think they actually use this list, they recognize how bad it will turn out to be. If you look, Shigeru Miyamato got voted #1 last year lol. #2 and #3 were Rain and Colbert. So yes, lighten up, they're just throwing this out for us to have fun.

Times person of the year poll was already sabotaged once by 2chan like 5 years ago for Tashiro Masashi, a singer (a damn good one at that, actually) who was convincted of voyeurism lol.
On September 24, 2000, he was sent to the prosecutor's office for filming up a woman's skirt with a camcorder in Tokyu Toyoko Line Toritsudaigaku Station in Meguro, Tokyo.
In 2001, users of internet forum 2channel voted en-masse Tashiro as Time Magazine's Person of the Year. This act was soon dubbed the "Tashiro Festival" (Tashiro Matsuri, 田代祭) by 2ch users. 2channel programmers developed many scripts such as "Tashiro Cannon" (Tashiro-hō, 田代砲), "Mega particle Tashiro Cannon" (Mega-ryūshi Tashiro-hō, メガ粒子田代砲), "25 repeated blows Tashiro Cannon" (Nijū-go renda Tashiro-hō, 25連打田代砲) "Super Tashiro Cannon" (Chō Tashiro-hō, 超田代砲) to be able to vote repeatedly. "Super Tashiro cannon" was so powerful that it crashed Time's server. Afterwards, "Satellite Cannon -Tashiro-" was developed, but it was not deployed. Due to the votes of 2channel users, he got to the No. 1 position temporarily on December 21, 2001. However, Time's staff realized that something was unusual, and Tashiro was removed as a candidate.[14]
this is so ridiculously rigged who the fuck believes that shit? pope at 40 or w/e and some lol dude moot at one? Briteny Spears T-Pain in top 11...so lol you can't take this seriously
How many people do you guys really think are on 4chan? You know you look at poles like this and while Im sure there is not really 2 million people on 4chan voting. It does makes you wonder about the internet and its role in politics in the future. Lets say a internet community ever got larger enough where they could realisticaly get maybe 100k votes. Thats the same as say as alot of labor unions and other organization. I would not be surprised if a guy like Moot is being wined and dined by politician because he has a small army of followers one day. Like the whole Klazart thing on a large scale.

People probably don't care about swaying the opinion of 4chan viewers.
moot was already at 1,2 million, then TIME deleted 1 million votes. After that 4chan raged and got serious. Several other Chans tried stopping 4chan by voting random people up and moot down. But no use, moot is far ahead now, unless TIME deletes votes again.
This Poll is rigged by 4chan, every other internet assholes, Stephen Colberts Voting-Army and TIME itself.

That's a stupid thing to say. Obviously, having a lot of influence on the internet means you have a lot of influence in the world. Sure several politicians and buisnessmen should rank higher than some other people (Twilight wtf?) but to say moot doesn't deserve it because he has an internet voting army is counter intuitive. Having an internet voting army means you are influential.

its actually really really easy to vote over many times. I think the site allowed like 10 votes to begin with anyways. However after it locks you out all your have to do is go and clear your cookies and cache and you can vote over again. So i would not be surprised of people sitting there voting 100-200 times cause they are bored as hell. It happens........not that i would do something like that........

#1? You think having a small army of forum dwellers with more time and will to constantly bombard a poll than anyone else makes you the #1 most influential figure in the world?

Thanks to nonsense like this the media can get away with not telling us who actually are the most influential people out there and who we should hold responsible for stuff.
And this is especially important since CEOs get more power and are basically unaccountable. Not to mention there are all kinds of new institutions that have power. And stuff like Bilderberg, besides the conspiracy theories around it, is going to be more important in the future.
Theeeeeeeeeee world is sooooo fucking retarded. God damn. Everything that isn't regulated gets owned by stupid people.

Colbert made a huge deal last time when Rain was owning him in a poll (cant remember what one exactly, dont think it was Time 08) and he rallied his people to vote for him more and he still lost. Now losing again is the ultimate defeat!~

And then we get crap like this.
I'm severely frightened by the fact you're looking to the media to tell you who is influential.
Well Ingenol the problem is the media are the only people with direct access to government. It's a shame that American press have more freedom than any other nations but they ask the least questions. The media is responsible to inform the country and it DOES suck that they fail to meet their responsibilities.
You laugh that he looks to the media but who else should he look to?

Actually be glad that 4chan is bombing the Times website. Whatever they're doing to discredit the current media regime is awesome. Times along with most other news outlets should go out of business.

I don't laugh, I'm sincerely frightened. The problem with the media is that people have given it the responsibility to pass judgments ("who is influential," "who should be held accountable") and they of course have taken it and run with it to the point where there is no news in the news media worldwide. It's all a bunch of lens-filtered shit, the lens used linked to the ethical (read: financial) agendas of the station presenting it.
News media should present unfiltered facts and then we as man, the animal that thinks, can use our cognitive abilities to pass rational judgment on it. This is certainly not to say there is no place for opinion in television, press, etc., but the sad fact is that worldwide ill-founded opinion is spoon-fed to people such as our friend here under the guise of "news," and over time people have sacrificed their ability to think critically and now look to that same news media for an opinion they can latch onto. That people are afraid to formulate their own opinions is obvious by the meteoric rise in op-ed shows on so-called "news" networks. As our world shifts to concretes and away from principles we slowly lose our ability to abstract and to reason, two traits which used to be extremely highly valued but are now under ferocious assault by stifling pragmatism that pervades every Western culture (and I suspect every culture worldwide).
By subscribing (and indeed, preferring) sensationalist media over factual, we have allowed this to happen. Think for yourself.
TL;DR: "If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything."

If you look at that thread, he just let TL know of that Escapist votation. The OP of that thread didn't tell us to vote for his side blindly. He just wants us to vote.

Pac-man is considered a national treasure and man of the people.
He donates so much of his winnings to the people of his country... feeding the homeless and building school systems.
The president is a politician who basically campaigned for himself all year, so more props to pacquiao being ahead!

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh WHAT
4chan isn't stupid because they bombard polls - this just brought them up. 4chan is stupid because they're full of immature idiots, fucking dumb memes and a constant stream of moronic conversation
i have to be honest: i wouldn't hate 4chan as much if it wasn't for the memes they love. it really pisses me off that for some reason i run into 4channers in real life and they will not shut the fuck up about things being epic fail, win, etc etc. it really makes me want to kill them (but make a post on 4chan before i do it, duh).
Oh I saw that. It's pretty cool how they really have managed to take over some of the internet. I think that's what you get when you have a website that's dedicated to trolling people 24/7
