I almost drowned in the swimming pool somehow despite the fact I knew how to swim. Luckily, one of my friends were there to help me out
Sort of embarrassing, but I was scared out of my mind because I thought I was going to die for sure.
Speaking of death one of my best friends moved to Korea and died in a car accident which caused tremendous pain for me since we were tight. But now that he's gone.........:/

When I was young I choked on a piece of food and couldnt breathe. I was a bit freaked out afterwards.

i was on my way home from a party and guess what i was drunk as hell. so on my way home i had to pass a train railway there are stairs to go below the railway, but there were only fences as high as my chest protecting people from walking over. you already guess whats coming now... no drunk as fuck as i was i thought "well i can easily make it over the fence and walk, theres plenty of time and no train" i really checked waited checked again...no train. so i started climbing...i did not realise climbing can take MUCH more time if youre drunk so i had lik 20 secs to get on top of the fence. and suddenly i heard a horn like a few ten meters away from me....yup it was a train. i was so focused on climbing i did not even realize the train approaching at full speed.... so i would say, if i climbed a few seconds later, or left the party a few seconds earlier i wouldnt be writing this story....

Was reading in the tram on my way home late. It was such a funny book (I think it was a Pratchett) that when my stop came, I kept reading the last lines on the page while slowly getting up. When I absentmindedly made the doors open to get out a van passed by at like 50 miles inches before me (that sick fuck, maybe it was gameguard? Oh no, wrong continent >< ).

i used to race other guys...haha not so proud of myself there
one time i was going 140 mph racing this other guy, when he shifts gear and gains on me so i move in front of him, he fakes me out, which left me pretty surprised cuz i was focusing much of my attention ahead
i had a slight lapse in control of the wheel, and my car "almost" spun out of control, it was about to start spinning when i got a grip of myself again, but by this time, he was already far away ahead and i couldn't win
but i learned a valuable lesson

Yes, I almost drowned as a child. My neighbour from up the road saved my life.

4^^ DaJ, put some commas on your comments, they will make your stories sound a lot better. Guaranteed.

Near OD, Crazy car accident in the rain, crazy car accident during Hurricane Dennis. Dangling from a building when I was like 6 or so.... Guns, Falling off a trampolline, Sleeping while driving,
Yeah.. I've probably nearly died countless times. But the fact that I'm here tells me I'm superhero.

Was rafting about 3 years ago in a 2-man raft. When we were going down a "fall" (how do you call those small waterfalls in a river?) the raft tipped over and I ended up under the raft. I tried to get out of the water but the raft was in the way. I tried to push myself up but it was really hard.. managed to get up though, probably after a short while, even though it felt like 2 years under there. I was really really frightened, even though I had a life vest and everything.. when you're under water and can't get up, I think it's natural to have this "panic feeling" and fear of drowning.
And as it comes to Driving I'm shocked how many people underestimate the danger of it. In the nordic countries people don't even have a little sip of alcohol before driving.. it's totally unacceptable.
I just moved to the US (SC) a few days ago, and I am shocked that the limit here is .08%. SICK. that's four times as much as we have in Norway and Sweden (.02%).. here it seems it's not really a big deal if you've taken just a beer or two and go out and drive.. people should now that only a single beer will affect you body.
I've heard many stories of people drinking and driving here from students who have been here a few months longer than me. People crossing all the lanes perpendicularly back and forth, driving on red lights, etc..
Also, the limit for flying a plane is .04%, which is twice as much as we have for driving in the nordic countries.. imagine a pilot having responsibility of that many people having .04% ? SICK. That's like 4-5 beers.. fortunately airlines usually have rules that say they have to stop drinking 12 hours before flight.

almost drowned, choked, and ran over (car)

I almost drowned about three times. When was when my swimming tube popped and I started to sink. Another one, I kinda forgot how it happened. The last one happened when I was swimming with a couple of friends and I got trapped under one of those big floating chairs and couldn't push it away (one of my BIG friends was on it). That just sucked.
I really dislike swimming now.
Almost got hit by a car, but I don't think it would have brought death.

Oh man, where to begin... I've had a pretty rough life in terms of near-death experiences, in almost every catagory of injury/disease D;.
The biggest one that comes to mind was when I was 12. Was my first full season of snowboarding, and I was still total crap at it: I couldn't break well, I couldn't turn well, I just went down straight falling when I went too fast. Eventually I managed to get down the easiest slope falling only at the end, so I decided it was time to move further. I went on the green slope, the second easiest, and man, it was 5 times longer 2 times steeper than the bunny slope. Long story short, I was going way too fast to fall down safely so I was hoping it would pan out at the end. Instead, a black skier cut me off (not intended racism, but how many black skiers do you know, or GOOD black skiers?) and I had no idea what to do. Apparently he sucked too, because he started to sit on his skis to slow himself down, but fell literally 10 feet in front of me when I was going easily 15-20 miles per hour or so. I realize in retrospect I could have killed him if I hit him hard enough in the head/torso area, but I did the humanistic thing and jumped over him even though I had no clue how to land. I was coming down head first, so I stuck out my arms. Broke both elbows inwards, blacked out as he was yelling at me, woke up in the hospital with 2 arm slings and no feeling in my elbows. My elbows still bend backwards a little, and I don't feel anything in that area - only the skin has sensation. He payed for surgery, so that made it a little better.
I got hit by a car 3 times, but luckily it was all at minimal speeds, 10 miles per hour or so, and only glancing blows. One time into a thornbush when it was rainy and car swerved. One time I got hit while I was jumping off the road because I thought I could make it on my rollerblades but the car hit my feet and I spun, landed on chest. Last time, I was going down a hill on my rollerblades that merged perpendicularly with another road at like 2 am, and minivan literally came out of nowhere and even though I started breaking, I hit the side of the van with my elbows and knees and fell. I looked up and saw that I completely fucked up their car, like the entire door went in 1 foot and it was coming off its hinges. So I pretended to be dead (I don't know what the logic in that was). The guy on the other hand stopped, but then when he saw I wasn't moving, I assume he got scared shitless and drove off as fast as possible. I got up and ran away in the opposite direction. Great times in America.
Biggest disease-related one was when I got mono and a bronchitis attack at the same time... Basically the anti-biotics to cure one of them made the other stronger, or something like that, so I had to go untreated for a while in the hospital as they waited for the disease to abate. Eventually it just got worse, so they had to put me under anesthesia for like a day while they gave me various medicines. When I woke up they said that I could take bronchitis medicine now but my mono would own me for the next month. It got so terrible that I couldn't move for a few days, and my parents were in Russia so I had to text my friend to come to my house and feed me for like a week. When it got worst I couldn't even open my eyes or eat properly so I called 911 and they fed me through a tube at the hospital and in the car I think... Worst experience ever... Then I got better within a wekk and didn't go to school for another month because bastard parents were still in Russia.
On another time I broke my sesamoid bone in my foot while doing sports, and as soon as it got better I tried to do a front flip (which I wasn't good at yet) onto a mat. Some asshole left a springboard under the mat, so when I landed (imperfectly because of foot injury and bad practice), my knees shot up to my face and both hit my nose like a 1-2 punch. I broke my nose, and it was all the way to the side, like literally facing 45 degrees to the left. I went into the bathroom in the school and remembered that I once saw a guy fix his nose by moving it himself. I tried to touch my nose, but it hurt so much. I paniced, and just hit my nose in the opposite direction. I blacked out, fell backwards, and hit my head on the sink. I woke up 3 minutes later when teachers were shaking me awake, and I was in a pool of blood, must've looked dead for sure. I had blood all over my face, hair, clothes, and the puddle on the floor was from my re-damaged nose and from my head having hit the sink. 2 surgeries later the nose is fine, more or less.
Last story coming to mind... A kid in 4th grade had a plastic coin collector that he wore around his neck because he was a cheap azn. It was full of water and coins. He told me during lunch that he found out my locker combination and went through my stuff. I laughed and called him a liar. So we both went up to my locker, and he tried to open it, but couldn't. So I laughed and mocked him and called him a pathetic little liar. The kid scratched my face. I got angry right away and punched him in his face. He started to run away. I chased him down and started beating him on the back of the head. When he fell down, I felt he had had enough. I was walking away, and then I hear him going "RUUUAHHHH!" As I turn around I see his teary face and the coin protector swinging around his head, and he smashes me on the back of the head with it. It was heavy, but luckily it was plastic. I just call him a douchebag, walk away, while still crying. I touch my head and see a lot of blood. So I change routes to the nurse's office. I get rushed to the hospital but have to wait 6 hours in the waiting room because apparently there are more pressing matters than a 10 year old on a stretcher with his head bleeding profusely. In the end it turned out I had no serious issues, just a lot of blood loss. You know what's most fucked up? The kid got 5 days lunch detention. I got 1 day for being outside of lunch. WHAT THE FUCK. In high school or the real world he'd be suspended/getting sued or something.

Probably the closest i've ever had to a near death experience, and infact almost experiencing dying, was when i used to have a disease called Wolf Parkinson White Syndrome.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolff-Parkinson-White_syndrome
Basically what would happen if i didnt take my medicine or i started growing and the problem became bigger, was that if my heart got too overworked in excersize or sports or whatever it may be, it would trigger the disease to excellerate my heart to a professional athlete's masimum heart rate, which is around 250-270 BPM.
There was a time, and i remember this memory very clearly, when this did infact occur to me and i had to be taken to the hospital immediatly.
I was about 10, it was after school and we were playing a game of kickball (baseball + kicking a large rubber ball etc+). I was playing in the outfield and someone happened to kick the ball way the fuck out of the way and i decided to chase after it. I ran calming to the ball and picked it up. Except, when i picked up the ball it felt like my heart jumped past 5-6 beats, and started to go really really fast and the beating faded away, becoming so weak of a beat that you coudlnt read my pulse, nor feel my chest to see how fast really my heart was going. I told the teacher to feel my heart and i already noticed the expression on her face that this wasnt good, i sat down and began to take huge breaths since i was freaking out. Finally after like 20 minutes the lady ( I really dont blame her since she couldnt have known, she was new.) brought me up to the office and my dad was called to pick me up. For some reason we were arguing whether to go to the hospital or not, after a call to my mother (a docter herself) we probably sped through a red light to get to the ER as soon as we could. When we got to the ER, they had to do their retarded standard procedure until they took a look at my heart rate, in which i was immediatly administered on a bed and within moments i had probably 15 people around me. I felt like i was getting weaker and weaker, when they finally told me they would have to give me something that would "restart my heart". i looked to my left and saw a young women with a very big needle ( had a IV started in my arm) and was squirting juice out to make sure no air would be put into my blood system. When she injected it, it took about 3 seconds for me to feel my heart no more, I felt like i was falling, sort of fading out of existance, when I was finally jolted back into the room and everything was normal, all those people slowly started to walk away after I stabilized. It was probably the scariest, though interesting and experimental to what could happen after death, moment in my life.

Yes. About 7-8 years ago, one day I became sick and became dehydrated and lost 50 lbs. And when I was finally taken to the Hospital I had a blood sugar of 947, had it reached a 1000, I was told I would have slipped into a coma and died. I was diagnosed with diabetes the same day, obviously.

When I was around 6 or 7 I almost drowned. I was swimming in a pool in the shallow end, not really swimming since I couldn't yet, and the pool had a edge dividing it from the deep end and I had drifted over it and into the deep end. Basically, I almost drowned trying to claw my way back up onto the shallow end but thankfully my mom jumped in and saved me.

thats ok, glancing blows are easier to save.
i fell 30ft out of a tree when i was about 12 and missed landing on a wooden spike by about 1ft. trees are not to be trusted.

i think this post would be interesting because it might contain posts people might actually go through and read the details
anyways on mine..
friend was on leave from the air force.. called me and the guy who was shot to come down to see him at westport ( some clubbing type area ) because he was too drunk to drive.. we went down there and he was drunk as hell.. he ran off down the street from the back of the club.. me and chris (the guy who died) followed him.. some guys tried to start a fight with us (unrelated).. we then went about a minute farther.. some car full of gang members or whatever started shooting into this other car in jam packed traffic everywhere with all the clubs letting out.. they drove away and stopped by us shooting everyone on the sidewalk.. they shot my friend in the head and shot at me a few times.. unsolved mystery :/
