How is the VP decided at that time? Yes. Harris gets to appoint her VP, but it requires a majority of senate and house votes. If one isn't approved, then she has no VP and her line of succession goes to the speaker of the house ( a democrat).

Just wanted to point out that I called this shit 11 hours ago, but hey, not every news station and polling org can be as good as your friends here at the Teamliquid.net Decision Desk. https://twitter.com/DecisionDeskHQ/status/1324710866516905984?s=20 Decision Desk seems to have been the only large-ish coverage team that has officially called this race, though Nate Silver and Nate Cohn seemed to imply that it was also over a long time ago. GEORGIA FLIPPED HAHAHAHAAHAHA Alright well I think this will do it, I'll probably keep up with the major pollsters for a little bit until they finally announce the President-elect and I'll stay up to date with the numbers in Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia for a bit. NC will come out next week, when I get news of that I'll update assuming the main USPMT is gonna be back up. Thanks everyone to an awesome coverage, it was fun being your newscaster for this election. Shoutouts to everyone who followed this thread and used this as your main source of info, hopefully in 2 years we can do this again and I'll be right back here on the TL.net Decision Desk. AND HAPPY 9000 POSTS TO ME! Thanks for all the updates and number crushing - an European, who used this as his #1 source of info

MSNBC blatantly spoke about not giving Trump ammunition by calling it in favor of Biden earlier than him having a substantial lead in PA, in particular, because it'll just give him a new conspiracy theory to spin up. I suspect what may happen with the PA call is that Fox and AP will make it when they make their NV call (they'd rather project the win with PA than AZ+NV), then the others will follow suit.

It grants them .5 of a seat in the senate, basically, if there's no VP. That part of the amendment is really simple and has no time limits: Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

The upshot is that the GOP will control the redistricting process once again, and the margin Democrats need to win by in order to gain power will continue to grow. Biden's win will slow the bleeding, but I don't think it's enough prevent the steady decline of our political system. Does anyone have a less pessimistic take?

https://twitter.com/HeikoMaas/status/1324654592714592256?s=20 technically speaking this was 4 hours ago so I assume that was in reaction to yesterdays press conference done by the WH and not meant to be a reaction to the election in general and it's result (PA & GA flipping) Translation is something along the lines of "It's more important to have decent [civilized?] losers for a democracy than it is to have radiant winners. [...]" Trump's not gonna like that phrasing

You would think the DNC would try and slowly reform itself to appear more attractive but instead they lurching to the right every time.

Time to start making the 5 head 4d chess plays! + Show Spoiler + really just the threat of Pelosi taking over is probably enough to encourage the senate, assuming she's still in the roll. Won't matter to McConnell. It lets him give a "token moderate" pass to one of his members. Pelosi becoming president won't bother him at all, if he has the senate majority, and she would be president regardless. You'd have to nominate someone they actually seem afraid of more than Pelosi, like AOC

The DSA is the Democratic Socialists of America, for anyone who isnt aware and they're showing that the Democrats are in fact asshats and that Nancy Pelosi and Abigail Spanberger have got to go.

That sounds low, but realize that the democratic margin has shrunk enough that they really will need to win those 6 votes. (If they don't flip any further seats from the current lead, they will only have a 221 -214 margin in the house). All 7 blue dog democrats lost their elections (these are conservative democrats). That's why Pelosi won't be openly backing Spanberger's cries for her to punish AOC: she needs them to win the speakership (it was somewhat close last time). True, unless there's some obscure rule about it. Basically someone like her, but I can't think of any other figures that the right hates more than Pelosi.
