Even if he was actually doing work when you want photo's like this to put out you set them up to be the way you want them. It's not even an American thing, I would suspect any government that puts out a 'look how your leader is working for you' picture to not be shown him actually working. +1 I have done a couple of "working" ops you always stage the actual picture regardless of if you are doing actual work at the time or not, which usually you are not.
You're interrupting the anti-trump conspiracy mongering.

And that is something that happens when people actually care about facts, they might view stuff differently if they gain new information.

Chemists are always told to hold a pipette for photo ops, even if our work has nothing to do with solution chemistry, lol
|
Photo ops themselves aren't the problem people are objecting to here. It's that the photo ops are being used to prove that Trump is in good health, and that said photo ops are very bad proof of that.
Additionally, there's some standard mockery because they were very poorly staged photo ops.

They also moved all the curvy glassware into the background to make it extra chemistry-y.

Don't really care what they lie about or what photo is staged or not but how the hell do they manage to fuck up communication THAT much? They sent every single contradictory information they possibly could, ranging from "he is doing wonderfully" to "his vitals are worrying we don't see a clear path to recovery" and everything in between, including suggesting he knew he was sick at several gatherings.
How incompetent can those people be, it's absolutely mind boggling. I wouldn't trust them with a hot dog stand, they would fuck it up.

This just may be the most amateur White House we've ever seen. Trump must have driven away any normal workers so now he's left mostly with incompetent sycophants.

The number of government workers throughout the federal hierarchy that have been chased away by Trump and his cronies is large, there are all sorts of skeleton crews and entire projects abandoned, especially in the arts and sciences, neither of which Trump likes.

Biden may well spend his entire first term, if not longer, simply rebuilding the government.
|
Sounds like the new story is "that press conference yesterday was a lie, things were actually bad, but now they're good again." And pay no attention to the alarming cocktail of drugs the president is being administered that suggests a pretty bad infection.

This is a key message to revolutionaries or reactionaries, left or right. It's much easier to tear down institutions or faith in institutions than it is to build or rebuild them.
Look at Iran, for example, where an anti-Shah, anti-authoritarian revolution occurred to tear down the establishment. At the end the theocrats stepped in and violently co-opted the rebuilding phase into what Iran is now, which is directly against the principles of the great majority of those who caused the revolution itself.
That being said, sometimes the threat of revolution can be useful in a game theory sense. GH is rightly salty about the treatment African Americans have experienced in the US. A revolution would almost certainly reduce the lives of AAs. However, it would way more significantly reduce the lives of the white Americans. White Americans have much more to lose, which means that AA can force concessions with the threat of revolution(as far as the threat of revolution or destabilization is feasible).
|
The fact that rebuilding is difficult is one of the shittiest excuses one could devise for being anti-revolutionary. Everyone knows quite well that revolutions will cause immediate harm and risk going astray. The risk is accepted because the alternative is a slow descent into bad conditions with no chance of improvement.
Trying to tie that to the faults of incompetent governance leading to a mass exodus of career bureaucrats (which are talked up to be "good" in the preceding discussion) is more than a little disingenuous.

So some more hard info from the Dr who gave misleading facts. He also flat out admits that he lied about whether there was ever oxygen given.
Honestly, I don't have enough medical knowledge to know how specifically bad these O2 saturation dips are. It does seem to indicate a fairly severe infection, which generally takes a long time to recover from.
When asked about the discrepancies between official statements on the president being given oxygen at the Sunday presser, Conley told reporters that he was trying to be “upbeat.”
“I was trying to reflect the upbeat attitude that the team, the president, over the course of this illness has had,” he said. “I didn’t want to give any information that might steer the course of illness in another direction.”
Late Friday morning, when I returned to the bedside, the president had a high fever and his oxygen saturation was transiently dipping below 94%. Given these two developments, I was concerned for possible rapid progression of the illness. I recommended the president would try supplemental oxygen, see how he would respond. He was fairly adamant that he didn’t need it. He was not short of breath. He was tired, had the fever and that was about it.
After about a minute, on only two liters, his saturation levels were over 95%. He stayed on that for about an hour, maybe, and was off and gone. Later that day, by the time the team here was at the bedside, the president had been up out of bed, moving about the residence, with only mild symptoms. Despite this, everyone agreed the best course of action was to move to Walter Reed for more thorough evaluation and monitoring. [...] [regarding saturday morning] There was another episode where he dropped down 93%. He didn’t ever feel short of breath. We watched it and it returned back up.

Seems like it's safe to assume that we effectively have no one fulfilling presidential duties now? Perhaps it doesn't even matter considering that he doesn't even take his presidential briefings when healthy and is playing golf majority of the time.

Couple things that I think are interesting about Trump's health:
1. Trump's kids know that if Trump dies, they are going straight to prison, no 2 ways about it. They have very little actual allies in the government and are essentially protected purely by Trump. Trump Jr in particular is so amazingly screwed if Trump dies.
2. Anti-Trump Republicans seeing they may actually be able to invoke the 25th amendment to finally eject him from the party. It's totally possible that if Trump goes on a ventilator, they will try to just fully remove him. Pence has shown he would have no problem trying to overthrow Trump if a good opportunity presented itself.

Looking around, normal oxygen saturation levels seem to be 95+%. So below 94% is in 'your lungs are not working optimally' territory. But yeah it will all depend on how big the 'below' is.
He's on 3 different medicines now, one of which only has effect on patients that are on oxygen.

So this guy just says "Yeah, i was totally lying yesterday, and for no real reason either." He is supposed to be a doctor. I expect a doctor to communicate facts clearly and accurately, not make statements which "reflect the upbeat attitude of the team" instead of actual facts.
