Then again that's what I said every single round with Undertale and I was always wrong -_-

I'm always surprised that Secret of Mana isn't on that list, is it just my nostalgia that rates it so highly?

I'm anything but a nintendo fanboy but the game is definitely one of the best ever preach the contest is a popularity contest as much as you want, but I'll fucking laugh my ass of if friggin Undertale win it all @DickMcFanny Secret of Mana probably deserved to be on the bracket, but the game not being there is not exactly controversial either.

I believe we were already at 50k votes at like 9 AM UK time. Today it's 5 PM UK time and we've just reached 50k, no way we will make 176k. Is Tumblr actually big enough to rally 100k voters, or are some Undertale fans using botnets? xD it's funny how the average number of votes seems to be around 60k most days, yet when Undertale is involved it's always 100k+ I've looked way too deep into this lmao. Conspiracy theorists unite.

Personally I think it’s a bunch lot of fans and a reasonable number of people who’s favorite game already lost jumping on. Its fan base + king makers in action.

Edit: I don't think there is such a thing as a "neutral" awards show in any medium. Awards by their nature are subjective and all require context.

Super Mario Final Fantasy Chrono Trigger/Cross Zelda Half Life MGS Resident Evil Starcraft Fire Emblem Street Figther Fire Emblem and Street Fighter are not that popular in this GameFaqs thing, but I feel they provide some of the best quality entertainment and fun in their own genres. Warcraft should also make it but my own bias against MMOs leaves it out because of WoW. Sad about not being able to fit Fallout or Castlevania in there. As for Pokemon... loved Red/Blue as a kid but just no.

1. Super Metroid - The best gameplay experience ever. Flawless control. Perfect Atmosphere. Masterpiece level design. 2. Zelda: Majora's Mask - The best music, the most touching and emotional experience. Courageous novelty. 3. Super Mario 64 - The game that 'solved' 3D camera work. Flawless gameplay. Great level design. 4. Doom - The first true FPS. One of the most widely-installed pieces of software at one point in history. 5. Zelda: Ocarina of Time - One of the most influential games. Contextual buttons. A simple story perfectly told. 6. Starcraft: Brood War - The best balanced RTS ever with amazing gameplay. UMS made it so much more. 7. Super Mario Bros 3 - The greatest NES game. Brilliant design and an incredible technical feat on the NES. 8. Pokemon Red/Blue - An incredible technical feat on the Game Boy. Started one of the biggest gaming franchises. 9. Smash Bros. Melee - Arguably one of the best fighting games ever. Still widely played 15+ years later. 10. Megaman X - Brilliance in level design, controls, movement and music. This game *is* "game-flow". 11. Diablo II - More or less the inspiration for all modern equipment-based games, and arguably much more. 12. Warcraft III - An evolution of RTS that directly spawned DotA (and therefore Dota2, LoL, HoN, Smite, HotS etc.) 13. Call of Duty 4 - The best FPS experience ever. Not quite what many think, this is a smart anti-war "art game." 14. Super Mario RPG - Squeenix execution + Nintendo's game design novelty. Evolved RPG gameplay and a good story. 15. Mario Kart 8 - The best racing game ever. 48 incredible tracks with insane customization. 16. Metal Gear Solid - Practically invented 'cinematic'. A more focused game without the franchise baggage. 17. Street Fighter II - The first modern fighter. Command input of special moves and 'accidentally' invented 'combos'. 18. Metal Gear Solid 3 - The most beautiful MGS game, with freedom for player creativity and brilliant set-pieces 19. Undertale - An incredible 'meta' experience. Deconstructively asks questions about the medium of games and reconstructively answers those same questions in clever ways. Doesn't hurt that the game is brilliantly creative with its gameplay and has incredible music and a beautiful message. Just go play it if you haven't, don't spoil anything more. It's worth checking out. Effortlessly GOTY2015. 20. Zelda: The Wind Waker - A bold departure, and a landmark of art direction, and an incredibly beautiful game overall. 21. Bioshock - Gameplay and story interweave in a way in which few games can even aspire. *Atmosphere*! 22. Portal - Came out of nowhere. Hilarious dialogue, incredibly novel gameplay, and a great story. 23. Halo: Combat Evolved - Redefined the FPS genre. Insanely good enemy AI and vehicle gameplay. Great design. 24. Minecraft - Opened new paradigms of open-world gaming. LEGO for the millenial generation. 25. World of Warcraft - Most peoples' first MMO. Overall a very well-designed game with lots of unique experiences. 26. Tetris - Deeply influential, with addictive gameplay and music and with loads of variants available. Genre-starter. 27. Metroid Prime - One of the deepest exploration experiences around. An incredible technical feat of that era. 28. Shadow of the Colossus - A huge world, with unbelievable music and atmosphere. Sometimes less is more. 29. SMW2: "Yoshi's Island" - Incredibly gameplay and bold artistic direction. Brilliant level design. 30. Pokemon Gold/Silver - Featuring loads of content + gameplay improvements. Technically brilliant. 31. Half Life 2 - All the brilliance of HL1 with better game design, puzzles, levels. Flagship of Steam and Source. 32. Phoenix Wright - Rebirth of the visual novel. Had an actual effect on Japan's legal system. 33. Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Still the scariest horror game I've played, and made by a small indie team. 34. Bastion - A surprise gift. Incredible atmosphere and world-building anchored by brilliant voice work and music. 35. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - One of the most chaotic and innovative fighters. "Everything" is broken. So nothing is. 36. The Last of Us - An emotionally resonant story. A gruelling journey. Vulnerability a theme in gameplay and story. 37. Goldeneye 007 - The first "real" multiplayer console FPS. Novelty with loads of creativity. Forget the framerates. 38. Zelda: A Link to the Past - The definitive 2D Zelda. More exploration and wonder "per square foot" than anywhere else. 39. Super Smash Bros - Huge hitstun, with potential for aggressive combos. Great controls. Just 'Don't get hit'! 40. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Beautiful!! And when you're done, play it all upside down. Dat level design.

For example Melee was tweeted by a bunch of random people in the community too and posted on Reddit.
