Although this thread does not function under the same strict guidelines as the USPMT, it is still a general practice on TL to provide a source with an explanation on why it is relevant and what purpose it adds to the discussion. Failure to do so will result in a mod action.

According to my NDP friend Toronto-Danforth is going to the NDP and the Liberals are going to lose it by approximately 2,200 votes. It'll be interesting to see how close his prediction is. He has been reliable in the past.

For the record, it is Min Sook Lee of the NDP in Toronto Danforth.

EDIT: nothing in from Toronto-Danforth yet. hmmmm.

Fun fact: The NDP candidate in Spadina-Fort York is someone I attended middle school with.

So far the GTA is appearing good for the Liberals which should be a big sigh of relief for them. Quebec is also not that bad. Things are going okay for the Liberals so far I think, but as results from the prairies and Ontario outside of the GTA arrive it should change the equation. The CBC projects a Liberal government, but no decision on majority or minority.

CBC is projecting a Liberal government.

They haven't even counted some of the Montreal ridings yet. Given Montreal is a Liberal stronghold and all the surrounding ridings are red, the Liberals are about to pick up 3-4 more ridings probably in Quebec.

Unless things pick up a ton for them, the NDP underperformed their polls by about 5%, which puts them roughly where they were last election. The Greens are beating out their polling from the last couple weeks.

The Conservatives have some serious ground to make up if they are going to win this.

edit: my riding is the only one in SK the Cons aren't yet leading in. My vote counts! Finally! Well, at least for now anyway.

Well BC is gonna matter for a majority, right now there is a fairly significant chance of a liberal majority.

Please no. I'm tired of Trudeau, but another majority would be truly painful.

edit: I think the Liberals may have lucked out in Quebec. The Bloc appears to have taken more NDP seats than Liberal seats, along with some Conservative seats.

It's only 1 poll reporting but it currently shows Fort Mac being led by the Liberals. That's genuinely kinda funny.

May as well watch your tax dollars go to work.

I'm ambivalent towards Trudeau but another majority for the Liberals would make me uncomfortable with him in power. The chances of that is narrowing at least.

Maxime Bernier is falling behind the Conservative in his own riding.

I read that a majority government winner hasn't lost the following election since 1930, so maybe it was some political calculus on the Conservatives to pick an inevitable loser to bring out the big players for the next election. I've seen Peter MacKay put forward quite often.

Forgot about Chong. He'd be an interesting pick because as far as I know he's seen as a moderate and very principled.

CTV also predicting a liberal win, a minority in this case.

same. I actually don't want either Trudeau or Scheer to win lol. If one will, the best I want is a minority. A majority either way would've been bad so hopefully no majority which I doubt anyways.

What are you guys expecting MacKay to do? Run for the party leader in the next election?

I'm hoping that Liberals get enough that the NDP or NDP + green hold the balance of power.

I don't really want the BQ having a gigantic say at the table.

Agreed.

I live in the middle of the Conservative prairie stronghold, and even here people struggle to defend the decision to choose him as the Conservative leader. Not that Bernier would have done any better but this should have been an easy election for the Conservatives. The Liberals had multiple high profile, ugly scandals and a leader who has consistently been more disapproved of than approved of and was literally a fish in a barrel waiting to be shot after the blackface scandal.

The Conservatives need to do some serious reflection on how they messed this up so badly.

CBC is now projecting a Liberal minority.
