from what I remember they were having issues with the production of the movie, interesting to see they are able to showcase something already, also I hope it doesn't pander to much to WoW or has an overload of cringe worthy references/jokes.

The original Hearthstone games before the pre show is because they are played before Blizzcon is "officially" opened. Then Blizzcon opens then all the tourneys have a pre show, then action starts again.

Is this basically going to be a live blog of the panels? There's MMO-Champ for WoW, but I haven't seen anyone going to do that for SC2.

Ticket to watch the panels and the opening ceremony i think. Might even get opening ceremony for free this year not sure. All the ESPORTS streams aka Hearthstone/SC2/WoW/HOTS tournaments are free to watch though.

I think we will like the new units just because they are different. I hope they don't bring another free unit spawning unit for zerg(or any race) after broodlords and swarm hosts. Imo they had a really big effect on the decline of starcrafts popularity.

Why are they trying to make money out of this when they are spending so much money on things like metallica anyway?

i think he is trying to say that for an event that is basically one big advert for their products, it doesnt make sense not to advertise when the audience is clearly there to be milked. and for those that can attend live, it's not like they go to blizzcon (and pay the ticket) just so they can go to the panels, so i don't see anyone getting screwed over either... i mean, at least i hope that is not the reason ppl attend blizzcon -.-

I'd agree on the price-issue, i paid for it and i think it's too much. But: i disagree if somebody says "everything should be streamed for free". It shouldn't. And no other company would, either. Has nothing to do with Activision.

Overwatch is Titan salvaged. The leak about Titan's lore and setting matches Overwatch. And Jeff Kaplan was the director of Titan. Looks very interesting. Reminds me of Wildstar and Team Fortress.

Wow... Overwatch looks strangely familiar to Firefall. Hmm.... I'm guessing this is what project "Titan" was, and Mark Kern left to make his own rip off of the game before blizzard could release it, which helps explain some of the crazy things they did about releasing info on the game waaaaay too early in the development. The scrapping/re-imagining of the titan project was probably actually them just dropping the MMO element.

I believe that on release WoL cost €60, with Hots at €40, basically the €100 I spent on the game will go to waste since once Lotv comes out no one will play Hots? Since it's a standalone game it might even cost the full price of €60 instead of the price of an expansion?

That's €100 for a game that I will never touch again. That's kind of steep given that's essentially the price of laddering (since you get almost everything else for free). As I said as well, Lotv being standalone means it'll probably be more expensive than an expansion, which is basically milking the people who already bought the first two titles.
Next to that you can get ridiculously good games for next to nothing if you look out for sales.

Will be interesting how Blizzard will monetize Overwatch. Part of the reason why TF2 is still getting support till this point while being a FREE game is how brilliant steam's monetizing system is. All in all i'm still extremely excited because i have logged over 800 hours of TF2 and will probably do the same with Overwatch.

well, i wouldn't even mind since you get a lot of re playability in those kinds of games. i would say the same thing for wol / hots, except that i'll literally never play those games ever again since the multiplayer will transfer entirely to lotv.
if the witcher 2 sucked i simply would not have bought it because there are other good single player games out there. sc2 has that semi-monopoly in the rts scene.
so yeah, i think it sucks to have €100 go down the drain. unfortunately i am not a blind blizzard fan boi. i respect the games they have made and i respect them as a company but they are not a perfect company nor do they make that are particularly fun compared to what i played as a kid.

I don't get those games, I buy a few games and play them to death (il-2 is a flight simulator for instance, it cost me €10 and I put in 200 hours, only flying one aircraft out of the 10 you have access to, it has amazing graphics and game play). you don't need to spend money to play LoL, Dota, HS, war thunder, archeage, tf2, etc and then there are lots of good games which aren't expensive if you wait for sales.
since 2010, i've only spent more than €10 on two games: Wol and hots.
compare that to something like cs:go or something which is like €15 ?
i think if you look at those numbers you realize that something is slightly off. i don't regret spending money on sc2, not for one second. but nor am i blind to its relatively high price compared to most other popular games.

They should use the CS:GO model (plus selling campaigns separately).
$15 multiplayer.
$30 for LotV campaign.
$10 for HotS campaign.
$10 for WoL campaign.
Bundle deals:
$40 for LotV game (campaign + multiplayer).
$20 for HotS game (campaign + multiplayer).
$20 for WoL game (campaign + multiplayer).
$60 for everything.
Note: all multiplayer should be the same, i.e. the latest version which is LotV (so HotS and WoL multiplayer automatically become LotV multiplayer).
The point is, the core game should become $15, and you can buy all the optional single-player add-ons you want.

Hell since Skyrim is stand alone and LoTV is stand alone (and, apparently thats a bad thing) one could take the absurd logic and say that the price of Skyrim was wasted ~$40 for each of the elder scrolls games preceding it. Ridiculous.

No, it went dark. For me i'm asking a refund. All the vods weren't available. So i can't watch what i missed before seeing the tournament.

Yeah. Blizzcon was a huge disappointment this year, in my opinion. We didn't even get access to the teaser trailer for the movie coming out. Some of the panels were not viewable, and some of the hearthstone games were not shown. I believe if you paid of the ticket, you should get access to all the video and trailer content everyone else does who is actually at the event.
The continuity of the SC2 tournament was horrendous. One of my favorite parts was the guy who held the sign up behind the caster table stating "Tech Up Blizzard."
