Tournament lan parties are all connected via ethernet and a switch these days. There will always be a delay between one computer communicating with the other. There is no method of instantaneous transfer in existence yet. The least amount of delay from the time the host computer creates a packet, sends it through the network, and is recieved and processed by your computer is probably gonna be 1-3ms for LAN play. I wouldnt worry about anything until you star getting 10+ ms. And againt, we're talkin starcraft for christ's sake, stop worrying.
