So 2 years at least, but maybe most of you were talking about the not-so-near future anyway. Is Chuky playing in the next challenger? He made the last one very entertaining :-D. No, he isn't. Here's the list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Chess_Championship_2014But at least we have Svidler, I love his press conferences. Out of those, I think only Kramnik and Aronian have a shot against Magnus. I think Levon would be excellent challenge for Carlsen, since he is so strong in complicated endgames and quiet positions. But Kramnik seems like a worthy option too.

Seems like the Engine on the official website is drunk, after Qxd6 it's suggests the brilliant e5!

This endgame seems quite tricky

Am I wrong to think that black is kinda dead here? Maybe he can tie it somehow but he needs to win or he loses the event right?

I guess that assessment is somewhat accurate. There is that small chance that Carlsen makes a blunder, but nothing would point to that.

sadly, you're pretty much dead on...

How does everyone do it? Is it "drawish" because the material is equal and the pawn structures are similar? But white is more developed and has more control of the center and has pawns pushed up more.
Edit: I was thinking Carlsen 27. Rg3... 28. Qxh6. Basically 99% of the people who claim certain position is a draw or a win for one of the players do the following: turn on their chess engine, wait 1 minute, see the evaluation, post on the internet. So what do you think mdb, any chance Topalov could be the next challenger? At least he qualified for the Candidate tournament. Does he still have what it takes? P.S.: I still remember your post back in 2005: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=32457#1 So sad to read a post discussing Fischer when he was still alive. I was so shocked at his death.

People were joking here about Magnus getting nerfed so it will be hard for him. I just found out that Carlsen's first name is Sven. Oh yeah...
|
Hm, I don't really like that from Anand. 43...g5 44. fxg5 hxg5 45. h4 creates outside passed pawn for Black.
Magnus played 44. Ne8+. I guess now Anand has to choose between letting White King forward or dropping e6-pawn after 45. Ng7. Doesn't look good for Future Ex-World Champion.

Instead of just repeating Magnus plays on, i'm a fanboy

hm doesnt anand just loses a pawn after Ng8+?

knight is trapped

If he plays Ng8+ he sacs the knight in less moves than it would take for black to chase him to Nh7. It also gives black good chances to make a passed pawn fast enough to promote before white can take the queen side pawns.
Very difficult position...

carlsen can defend with fxg5
what I mean is 46. Ng8+ Kf7 47.Nxh6+ Kg7 48.fxg5

No he can't, e5 - f6 push and white loses the game??
How can he defend the promote? That's a very long line in itself
