Will be interesting to see what happens, but there isn't much information yet. That's a rape joke right?
Are you offened that I made a pun about football and prison?
Doesn't necessarily mean rape, lots of inmates engage in mutual intimate activities.

Here's a great thread about a mans prison life/story.
Read it, he talks about how he engaged in these sort of activities.

It's like all the threads I frequent reading have their most common posters in this one.
Arraignment scheduled for 2pm EST, so we'll know more then.

They did he's name is Jake Ballard. Why do we need a separate thread? Ray Lewis murdered two people how come he didn't get one. Anyways this kid is dumb as rocks he destroyed his cellphone, cctv, and hired a cleaning service. No doubt he murdered and i have no sympathy for him. Such a god damn waste of talent he had everything. How come Ray Lewis didn't get his own thread? Because TL didn't exist till 2011 and Ray's whole nonsense happened in 2000? Pretty sure TL is older than 2. Pretty sure he knows that since he registered in 2009 so.... I'm guessing it's a typo

"Aaron Hernandez Case "Tight until the End""
I see what you did here...
|
Well if he's found not guilty I guess he'll sue the patriots for 100+ million dollars.

A Massachusetts court said Tuesday it has sealed documents related to the killing of a semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd found dead a mile from the home of Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. Attleboro District Court officials said documents related to the case, including search warrants, have been impounded, meaning the public can't see them. No charges have been filed.
State police have searched in and around Hernandez's home in North Attleborough several times. At least three search warrants have been issued in connection with the investigation.
Odin Lloyd, who played for the semi-pro Boston Bandits, was found slain June 17. The 27-year-old's relatives said he was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee and that the two men were friends.

On what grounds? They are allowed to release a player if they want to.

I doubt he can as teams can release players anytime for any or no reason. Teams do it to old / bad / hurt players all the time. the Patriots still need to pay him the money guaranteed in the contract no matter if and what he is found to be guilty of. Ironically, if the Patriots did not release him, there is a decent chance they could get out of paying him if he was found to be guilty, as there are behavior / moral clauses built in the contract.

Reading details about this his contract... he is sooooo screwed right now. His $41 million contract he signed last year...it's front loaded with a signing bonus. But those actual cash signing bonus payments were deferred.
And in the NFL rules...
Per Article 4, Section 9 of the CBA, “any player who . . . is unavailable to the team due to conduct by him that results in his incarceration . . . may be required to forfeit signing bonus, roster bonus, option bonus and/or reporting bonus, and no other salary, for each league year in which a forfeitable breach occurs.”
So his "guaranteed" signing bonus money that was deferred...is gone.
Pats won't take much at all of a cap hit.

Well I fail to see how being arrested on false accusations (i.e. being found not guilty) would count as "conduct by him". Let's say II need money -> go to NFL guy "gimme 10k $ or I'll do something that makes you get arrested" -> profit.
And really, players can be released if they are injured, like during training or games playing for the team? This stuff looks to be so abusable if it was true. So if a NFL team who doesn't need a player, but don't want play vs him either? Better make sure he suffers a career-ending injury before releasing him.
Or are my ideas just too cynic?

Teams can release player, so player doesn't play for the team anymore, but teams still need to pay said players according to contract.
As for situation you said, it actually not uncommon in US, but teams / leagues has their own investigation unit so it's not like they will release people without good reason. And often times, if the player is talented teams put up with their BS behavior, like when players get arrest for DUI / fighting and stuff, teams don't automatically release them. Again, teams don't really want to release players as they still need to pay them for not playing.

Apparently he's being charged with murder, according to MSNBC.

We all know Belichick framed him.

holy shit, just heard the news. hard to believe he would his murder his friend?

My only point is that you both have to consider innocent and proven guilty, and celebrities have gotten of cases even stronger against them than this one. Yeah I like the patriots cutting him, but he may be a nfl player again.
