Aaron Michael Hernandez is was an American football tight end for the New England Patriots of the National Football League.

Earlier that morning:
Aaron Hernandez was taken from his North Attleboro, Mass., home in handcuffs Wednesday morning after being arrested by the Massachusetts State Police and North Attleboro Police.
The increasing attention and speculation surrounding the New England Patriots tight end took a decisive turn as a throng of policemen arrived at Hernandez's residence at 8:47 a.m ET.
The Massachusetts State Police announced that Hernandez was arrested shortly after they obtained a warrant for his arrest. The MSP tweeted that Hernandez is currently being booked at the North Attleboro Police Station and will be brought on Wednesday to Attleboro District Court for arraignment. The charge against Hernandez will not be released until it is presented to the court, the MSP announced.
NFL Network's Rich Hollenberg told NFL Network's "NFL AM" that three police cars, two of them unmarked, arrived at Hernandez's residence early Wednesday. As many as nine plainclothes police officers and two uniformed North Attleboro officers entered Hernandez's home, bringing Hernandez out about five minutes later. The tight end answered the door shirtless, but was taken away with a white T-shirt draped over his upper body, with his hands cuffed behind his back.

But yeah there's a reason Hernandez fell so far in the draft. He had serious criminal and gang related red flags that turned a lot of teams off him. While obviously nothing has been proven yet, his history and the particulars of this case are very alarming.

Yeah. Being a big fan of the gators he never caused any outward issues. But a lot of players have been coming out and saying he had really sketchy behavior.

They did he's name is Jake Ballard. Why do we need a separate thread? Ray Lewis murdered two people how come he didn't get one. He should have. I don't even think TL was around back in 2000.
Anyway on-topic, not saying he actually murdered the guy but Hernandez is a thug - not in the slang sense, an actual thug.

How come nobody here's referenced that uber-clever thread title?
I love the decision by the Patriots to cut his ass immediately. If this situation really goes to shit (most pundits seem think to Hernandez is looking down the barrel of some serious charges) the Patriots want no part of the media circus. Make him a "former NFL player" and not "New England Patriots player."

Wait, he's under arresting for obstructing justice by destroying his surveillance system and phone, not murder, right?

They have not released his charges, and will not until hes arraigned.

That may or may not have been the case. I don't think anyone knows what is going on until the trial.

How come Ray Lewis didn't get his own thread? Because TL didn't exist till 2011 and Ray's whole nonsense happened in 2000?
Also Ray Lewis presumably did not kill the dude, but was partying with the guys who did and attempted to cover it up for them which got him in some troubles. Protecting a murderer is still pretty scummy, and that's at the bare minimum what Hernandez has done.

I'll guess he meant 2001, though I don't know for sure when TL started up.
