Nice! I hope I'm still enjoying games when I get that old. I'm actually a bit surprised that mid-20's is the norm, I was expecting it to be younger.

surprisingly low amount of people who are below 17, but I guess it makes sense since most people joined when SC2 started or when BW was active and it's been a few years already.

14! Found TL when I was like 9 and then just kind of stuck around on my older brothers account ;p Never posted back then because I never knew what I was talking about.

Same here... joined 2003 April... 10 years. /Hug

Just had my 26th last month. I actually expected the average age here to be a little older than 21-22 since the site was all about BW for such a long time and I've found that almost everyone I know who plays or has played BW is right around my age or a little older.

joined tl in 2009. im 28 now, almost 29 and feel so old. only 11% of tl users are older than me. Im also kinda shocked by how long i am a member of this community. still feels like yesterday that i joined this site.

I certainly hope that knowing what you are talking about isn't a prerequisite of posting
25 years for me. I had always thought I was a bit on the young side for the BW crowd and a bit on the old side for the SC2 crowd, but it looks like there is a good number at that age.

This is a perfect example of why... ._.

Here's a quick visual of the distribution. Seems fairly normal with a skew toward the older populatiuon

Nice, I do believe the average age of the gamers has gone up a lot, I notice a massive change from ten years ago when the majority seemed to be in their mid teens (including myself) in all kinds of games I played.
But like I said, people no matter the age people tend to be 16 on the internet.

I'm poorly represented~

I'm not going to contest your claim that the average age of gamers is rising, since I don't have any statistics either way, but I will say is that this poll and this thread are really not representative of anything on a larger scale. You have to keep in mind that Team Liquid is a site dedicated to competitive games with high skill ceiling. Go on a site dedicated to League of Legends, Minecraft, Call of Duty etc and I am sure you will find the exact opposite. Not to mention TL is a very strictly-moderated site in comparison to most. So much so that many of the youngsters (kids, young teens) I would imagine have either been purged for being terrible posters or are simply discouraged to post because of the standard that our mods actually enforce around here. Not that it's a bad thing...

I know I'm not basing it on the poll. What has changed is that there is an older generation of gamers, when I started out gaming online (late 90s) that wasn't really the case, of course there was some older players in some games, but they were not that many.
