I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences on purchases that just turned out to be a great investment, lead to an amazing experience or ended up saving you a lot of grief.
I don't mean this in a way like: "I've invested 10.000 USD in Pretentio-Corp. Stock and gained a net growth of .9% over five years even after inflation!", but rather in a way that a very small investment has lead to something that made you quite happy.
Maybe you've played a thousand hours of a game that cost your 12 bucks, maybe you found an awesome restaurant and had the meal of your life, maybe you bought a broken down old car fifteen years ago for a bargain and still drive it, maybe you bought a guitar lesson and the the instructor turned out to become your wife / husband.
I think I have made clear what I'm talking about, so to get at least some structure, we can have three categories:
1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD you've ever spent. 2) The best two digit amount you've ever spent. 3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent.
One rule:
Condoms don't count, they're too utilitarian.
This is my first thread, so I hope it turns out reasonably well.
I'd love to hear your stories of something that seemed minor at the time really made your day!
Salutations,
MeowMeow
My own examples:
1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD you've ever spent. The night before I moved to a new town, my boxes packed, I decided to order a pizza from a place novel to me. A family-sized tuna for 12 € seemed all right, but when the delivery guy came to my door, my jaw dropped. The pizza wouldn't even fit through the door, the carton was larger than my kitchen table. It was also one of the best pizzas I ate in my life and I regret not living there any more purely due to the pizza place.
2) The best two digit amount you've ever spent. My first car, a 1988 Peugeot 106 from my mum for a (symbolic) 50 €. It lasted me for five years without ever having any trouble.
3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent.
My guitar. Hundreds of hours of entertainment, blood, sweat and tears, of people I met, of people I met, of fun I had, buying a guitar literally changed my life in a pretty profound way.
Condoms don't count, they're too utilitarian and at the moment you use them, you're certainly not glad you have them on but do so because you're a smart individual. This thread is about something that makes you feel good, not the contrary.
I spent 225 Norwegian kroners, which is about 38$, on the GRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire pocket edition last november. All five books came in a pretty neat box set that looked kinda awesome
1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD I've ever spent. AND 2) The best two digit amount I've ever spent. There are quite a few books that come into consideration here... I'll go with Kant's Critique of Pure Reason for both categories. Over the past years, I can probably count the months on one hand where I didn't look inside - after I finished reading it.
3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent. I would have gone with a certain medical bill on that one, but I figure if condoms don't count, this one might be too utilitarian, too. So, this one's an interrail ticket (by virtue of the holiday associated to it) for me.
I would say a notebook for the three digit amount. Served as a seperate computer that was only used to write my thesis and papers at the end of my degree. But that didnt make me feel good.. >_>
Could be true but it doesn't run on my computer anymore.
I think I payed $40 for starcraft 2 when I bought it at wallmart because they gave me a giftcard back just for buying the game. Even if I had payed $200 it would still be my best spent money.

My seniors gave me a pink one on my first year of uni. For free. I still have it in the drawer, waiting to be used. I'm never gonna get detached from this shit, best bargain ever.

im not a car junkie but i dont see how spending 400 more dollars on a car 6 years older (and 18 years old at current time) than your previous car is a victory.
First I have to agree with intrigue; SC1 battle chest for $20.
Recently, I'll go with the Elder Scrolls 3, 4, 5 bundle from some online store for $20. I put about 180 hours into Morrowind in a few weeks and still have two more games to play!
A much earlier one is probably when I picked up Final Fantasy 7 used for $20 or so a year or two after it came out. I had already borrowed/played it some, but after buying it I played the hell out of it over the next ~15 years.

I found a place where they were selling it for five bucks lol. I couldn't believe it and it came in one of those DVD boxes with collector's edition on it. Ofc I bought it. Over the years I have bought 4 copies of vanilla SC and around 8 copies of Brood War.
What do you know I found it. I meant the best seller's edition but I do own both. The store had this one for five bucks back in 2003 or 2004 I believe:

The best £8 I spent was in a charity shop, I got a killer pair of silver coloured trousers which go great as formal attire, work trousers and for special occasions. Charity shops are so awesome.
Honestly, if you dont have one, get it. I have only needed to call them twice, but they make it so easy and so great in such a shitty situation, it is more than worth it...and you can get discounts at a lot of places.
damn thats hard to say. I know its not within the limits, but the best way of spending money, and I think many can agree here, was buying a computer. The amount of knowledge that came to me this way, and new things I probably have yet to see and discover through this medium, are invaluable.
1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD you've ever spent.
This one is tough. I'm going to say my first Bad Religion CD when I was like 13, that music changed my life.
2) The best two digit amount you've ever spent.
http://www.foodsaver.com/product.aspx?pid=7666 This thing is amazing. With all of the containers and bags it ends up costing ~$40, but it's saved me hundreds of dollars in groceries. Bread and salad that would go bad in 4 days now stays fresh for almost 2 weeks, so I never throw anything away. Everybody should own one.
3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent.
My car audio system which includes an iPod adapter, makes long trips much more palatable.

3-My computer by far, i have had it for like 3 years now and nothing has given me more pleasure for this amount of monney then my pc.
Not sure about the other 2,maybe presents i gave to people and wich made them realy happy.
One night, my bycicle got stolen and I had to go home somehow (15 km). Walking would take over 2 hours and it was already about 3:30 AM. At that time I was walking, there was a guy (probably a bum) that wanted to sell his bike. I bought the bike for 15 euro's after some negotiating and went home on the bike :D I was very glad^^
9.99 Euros each, for Mass Effect 1 and 2 on steam from the summer sales last year, I have over 100 hours logged on it now, absolutely love that series so much!
After a night of drinking a friend of mine recommended the kebab roll from a place I didn't know before. Costed me €4,50 and is probably the best thing I ever ate. It was so good at the time, I purposely didn't eat it again for 2 years, as to not ruin the memory I had of it. :p
My best 3 digit purchase is my laptop which I bought for €600 over a year ago and was an amazing deal. I still check out laptop deals every now and then out of curiosity. I have yet to find a laptop with the same price with better or even equal specs.
Living in a city with 275 rain-days a year, I decided to go all-in on a sick jacket. 700 USD on an Arc'teryx LEAF Alpha jacket and it's easily worth the money, I don't see myself needing a new one for decades. Extremely durable, comfortable, stylish (imo) basically the tits.

Nope. they are quite real. You just gotta know what to look for and how to ask.
Now you have to elaborate. There's a million Asian massage parlours here, but most of their sites explicitly say "no erotic massages". Getting a nice massage and a handjob sounds much more appealing than to have sex with a vanilla prostitute.
Paid $100 bucks for a car when I was 16. Lasted for 6 years. it wasn't a panty dropper and it had so many things wrong with it I couldn't begin to list them all here but I saved thousands not having payments like all my friends did.
Sony PRS 350. Saved a ton on books. Either in time due to no library visits or in actual costs since I get free text online for my reader. Since I always have it with me I've also been able to read more than when I did read paper format books and had to have a bag.
I has been playing SC and BW from copies i got with my first pc... then when i was a littlel older i saw the battlelchest only for 150pesos=> about 12-13 dolars and i was like O.O it cant be real and i order it and well 150 pesos better spended all time
Can't really think of anything super creative but I think I know prolly my most worthwhile purchase of the last few days.
Blazed it for the second time not too long ago. Afterwards go to Subway and get their special of the day, footlong chicken teriyaki sub, for $8.80. Damn...stilll remember that first bite. Worth. Every. Penny.
Or doesn't it count because it bought it like 5 times, due to losing the cd's? :')
edit: I copied vanilla, didnt buy it (silly me), then bought bw for 50 guilders (like 20 bucks at the time). After that i bought the battle chest around 4 times
I spent 40€ on plane tickets to Porto and had the best trip of my life, such a great city, lovely ppl everywhere ! I got the tickets quite spontaneously and had no expectations about my vacation there. I suppose you get the best bang for the buck if you just spend money on something you have no expectations towards.
I spent £7 (about $12) on Call of Duty: World at War. For some reason, even though i will fully admit its not a great game, i managed to find a niche in the tactical realism servers and have now racked up over 1200 hours on it.
Bought my mini Schnauzer for below 20 dollars at the ASPCA. That was about 140,160 hours of enjoyment. I guess he did take a few more dollars along the way to keep him going... but hey you needed to pay for your Internet and electricity bills to keep Brood War going too
Well, in a sickening way, the best X bucks I've ever spent were on my pickup. Low maintenance, good fuel economy, and incredibly reliable. Some of you are too young (or are just non-commuters) to know the value of a car that doesn't fuck you, but I assure you that life is infinitely easier when you have one you can trust + Show Spoiler +
That's right, old civic of mine, I'm calling you out!

Yeah sure. "His" bike... Like those bums trying to sell "their" cellphone for "a train ticket" at the station. Every day.
Under 50 - SNES 4 Player adapter. Bomberman is freaking addictive. Over 100 - My first car.
Edit: In your case i would have bought it as well of course.

My bike was once stolen, a week later the thief brought it back to where he took it. Months later I found a short apology-letter and 5 Mark in the small tool box under my saddle.
1) My cat (0€: great return on investement :D). Serious answer: Edit: OK I GOT IT: a japanese movie. Taiyou no Uta. 9$ of YUI is 9$ well fucking spent. :D 2) Guild Wars. Close call with my Kindle. 3) My Topre Realforce. (not a computer, because too many to pick lol)
What a fucking nerdy list haha. I only ever spend money on computer hardware/software or tech gadget :D
Most of my actually dearest possessions have been gifted to me by my parents though (my violin, my iPod), I'm still too young to have bought much of my stuff :D
Paid 15 bucks or someting for a shitty halo stream in the bad old days of mlg. Greatest fucking weekend with my brother and all my frends. First ever esports and it was worth it so much.
3 digit would have to be guitar (Vintage v100 Les Paul, that later I had upgraded with different keys and a different bridge), love it to death. In the 15/20 $ range... hard to say, probably Brood War.

Anyway, I spent $2.50 on Wacraft 2 plus the strategy guide at Half-Price Books. Amazing deal :D
The best two-digit amount of money I've ever spent was the 70 dollars to slip two 8G sticks of RAM into me and my girlfriend's laptops, so we each had a cool 10G of RAM.
i bought a used copy of final fantasy tactics advance for GBA for around 15$ some years ago i've put hundreds and hundreds of hours into multiple playthroughs of that game.
Already over 200 hours of entertainment for 4 people.
What's that? Looks interesting.
The best money I have ever spent has definitely been money invested in experiences I have been able to share with others. Like gas money or a plan ticket or something like that.
5$ for the Binding of Isaac. Became my new favorite Game of all time. The decisionmaking where you have to make sacrifices. How much experience you have to gather to understand all mechanics, items and enemies. And the almost infinite replay-value is just awesome.
Three digits will have to be my computer chair i bought 4 years ago . Have to spend a lot of time infront of the computer for school and this chair fixed the back problems I had before i got it.
Best two digit number: Plan B for the sigh of relief after convincing the religious girl that it isn't abortion Best < $20 spent: Azithromycin to clear up the chlamydia
I must have spent 50+ hours only on this first volume, and I'd reread it with pleasure. All the following ones deserve to be mentionned too ! Broodwar is a good answer too^^

It's Arkham Horror, a board game in Ktulu Mythos universe. It's really amazing since it's an almost fully cooperative game. If you like Lovecraft and evening long games... It's definitively for you.

I was recently wondering which were the items i'd be really sad to lose in case of a fire....
1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD you've ever spent. Hm... I can't decide between 2 books. Heard about them on a random blog and decided to buy them. Both of them were amazing read and costed Gagner la guerre - Jean Philippe Jaworski : an amazing swashbuckler/fantasy novel. Ludicrously well written. It's the best fantasy book i've ever read. La Horde du Contrevent - Alain Damasio : Scifi novel
2) The best two digit amount you've ever spent Ecology, community and lifestyle by Arne Naess. Got this book by curiosity after reading a James Lovelock one and was a great answer to some inner questions.
3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent. I'd go for my acoustic Guild guitar. I don't know if it was a good deal, but after checking guitars for 2 hours on the store, i've made my choice. I still didn't regret it since it's a hell of a good guitar and had a lot of memories attached to it.

$40 on a 12 month pass to the art gallery. If you go more than 5 times, it's already paid itself off. I've been there about a dozen times now. Also 10% off from the gift shop and restaurant. And free passes to guest talks and premieres.

True--but it is also true in Christian sects of the faith there is an extreme emphasis on forgiveness through "forgetting" "ignoring" "washing clean" one's past through metaphorical (or literal, depending which sect) rebirths [Usually through baptism]
So while yes, they don't condone premarital sex, they also heavily condone the "woops, my bad, I'll be good now" practice of washing one's self of one's past.
Ie--she could be a slut and then become "saved" by the Jesus and now is "pure again" thereby being able to both be overly religious as well as giving you chlamydia.
This is different from, say, Jewish tradition where they see themselves as the "people" of God and hence to practice being religious is more about being closer to the culture and lives of your fellow Jews more-so than it is the individual journey of faith that protestant beliefs stick to.
In Catholicism, you can kill someone, go to confession, then go to heaven. So long as you "mean it" when you say sorry to the priest. Hence, you can be a slut for 10-15 years straight--then go to confession, say sorry, mean it, and you're now on the right path towards sainthood (and you'd still give your partner chlamydia)

On topic, I bought the goty pack for elderscrolls 3 a couple years back for $10 and have sunk 700 hours into it. I dont think I've gotten this much out of any other game ever lol.
Also, this might be a bit too much but I feel the 4 grand I spent on a year of political science after I finished my comp science degree was money spent absolutely brilliantly. I might not get a job out of it, but I sure as hell enjoyed the subjects and having a well rounded education never hurts.
dunno if this counts, but best 3-4 digit investment was getting a dog. I got him from a shelter, so that part was free but getting all the stuff like his bed, toys, the medical exams, etc added up to almost a 1000USD-s.
He literally changed my life, helped me get out of depression and made me a much better person. I take him with me everywhere I can, restaurants, bars, parties... and man, do chicks love guys with dogs

Under $20: Morrowind GOTY a few years back I bought a full set of The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire for $300. Beautifully bound and includes sketches from Gibbon. Next week going to buy my plane tickets to Naples (~$1100) for when I study abroad next semester. I'm sure that will count
1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD you've ever spent. $12 A map of the forest roads / 4x4 trails in my area. I've used this soo many times, the fuel savings of not being lost in the hills has more than payed for itself.
2) The best two digit amount you've ever spent. $59.99 - SC2 WoL. It got me off of Runescape ($8 a month was lul) for good and Husky was a great sellsman (beautiful storms in late 2010 was beautiful). No HotS though.
3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent. $230 - Win7, CPU cooler, PSU, optical drive, case and fans. My brother gave me his desktop that he bought from a computer flipper friend (which I now know was a complete dumbass when it came to computers). I used it for SC2 as I got it from my brother until it died mid 2011 (torrented win7 bug made the PSU fail). So I fixed it, then overclocked the CPU and GPU as far as it can and it's been smooth sailing from there. Recently I bought a new case, oh my god front USB and headphone plug is soo good.

Yes ! Maybe not the best one, but as I bought each part separatly, I had to choose, and this is what got me into the rest.
Starcraft 2, the best $112 dollars I've ever spent on a game till now. (I used to dislike the game until I bought and tried it, then i never stopped loving it)
For 2) I'd probably have to go with the original Half-Life. Even if there had only been the original Half-Life without even multiplayer that would have been a great buy. But on top of that there was the standard HL multiplayer, which was tons of fun, and a staggering amount of amazing multiplayer mods that I think to this day is second to none. Counter-Strike was of course the highlight and I've probably spent more time playing Counter-Strike than any other game except WoW. But then there was also things like Deathmatch Classic, Team Fortress, Day of Defeat and a whole bunch of other stuff. When it comes to value for money for games I really think it's hard to beat the original Half-Life.
You guys all have nice sentimental purchases (or condoms), but the best money I ever spent was when the network adapter came out for PS2. I preorded it at Gamestop paying full price a few months before it came out. Not long after I learned our internet wouldn't be good enough to support the adapter so I cancelled my preorder and got my money back. A few months later I went in to buy a game and the guy told me I still had the preorder paid for and asked if I'd just like my money back. Invested $50...came away with $100.
I would say either the 2k I spent on the amazing computer that I am sitting at right now. Or the $17 I spent on Crusader Kings 2. I have over a thousands hours of gameplay on that bitch. Oh yea.

Most of my actually dearest possessions have been gifted to me by my parents though (my violin, my iPod), I'm still too young to have bought much of my stuff :D
i like u even more now (implying u mean gw1 not 2 :D )
all prices are in AUD 1)Starcraft II, discount bin -$15 2)$99, 3TB USB 3.0 HDD I bought at the start of this year 3)$155 i3 Acer Aspire V3-571 Notebook
Nothing really sentimental, just heavily discounted stuff I come across
Could be true but it doesn't run on my computer anymore.
I think I payed $40 for starcraft 2 when I bought it at wallmart because they gave me a giftcard back just for buying the game. Even if I had payed $200 it would still be my best spent money.
your comment means that you did never play BW, so that mean you never used your best 20$ monies ...
1) halo 1 PC (so flawed yet so awesome.. more fun than any other online game i've played) 2) my cat (expensive bastard but i love him) 3) my uni degree in mech eng (optimism? nearing a year in the workforce and definitely glad i finished it)
Another say 70$ was my share in a trip to Anaheim MLG last summer with some buddies.
Other than that all I got is $500 for a complete and meticulously and miraculously clean 1966 Ford Fairlane. Problem? 1. The engine is not as nice as the interior 2. The tires all went flat. ALL of them man. It's a money pit.
customized engraved ipod classic that has 160 GB capacity for $200(employee discount) on the back the engravement says in the center: Music Is My Religion Jimi Hendrix (underneath it)
1. 750,- Euro (put it together by myself, else it would have costed 1.200 euro) for my actual PC (he never let me down and gave me so much in return, lol)
2. 99,- Euro (special offer!!!!) for a weekend with my girlfriend in a small pension on the coast of the Baltic Sea. This was 10 Years ago when we both had no money - the weekend was perfect!
3. 400,- Euro for a 3 Day trip to Prague with my girlfriend. (we stayed here: http://www.arthotel.cz/en/ and I can recommend going there without a doubt)
Under $20, my subscription to pandora radio, it may not be the best platform for listening to the music you want to, but I discovered so many new artists through it
2 digits, A pair of athm50-s headphones (RRP is like 180 where I live, so getting them for 95 unopened was a huge bargain)
3 digits, either my PS-vita for the hundreds of hours I haven't been bored on public transport / waiting for class to start, or my thousands of MtG cards, through which I have met many great friends and had a ton of fun in tourneys
I could never get into BW just because of the horribly clunky UI.
I don't remember the price I bought them at, but between $20 and $40, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and Star Wars: Empire at War also gave me a ton for my money.
One month ago I got my 'Civilization V Gods & Kings Expansion' by paying 10 TL (6 $) from a technology store. I wait for some and Steam did a midweek madness(%75 woah) on Civ5 to let me buy the original one at 7.5 $. Same expansion also cut by %75 but still around 7.5 $ or so.
Funny thing is, the box I bought writes 60 TL (~35$) on it, I tried my chance at the counter and booom 6$. I think there was a mistake and I abuse it happily. Buying box copies in my country is not a tradition and clerks have no idea what they costs.
Also another thing, I went to Japan at 2010 to travel around. I found a boutique Jazz bar in a random building in Shinjuku. When I enter the flat(it is an apartment flat btw), I saw 4 people looking at me from the corner of the bar and I thought myself 'crap, this sucks'. But couldn't get out so I had to sit down to one of the empty coaches. In a minute an older guy came to me and said that one drink costs ~10$ if I want one. I said ok, ordered a gin, pretty much paralyzed because some shitty Jazz music was in background. After that the other 3 (one woman , 2 dudes) walked to the stage(very small thou), one guy grab one double bass another sit in front of a keyboard, woman took the mic. Later they play 3-4 Jazz songs live just for me and they asked me to request a song. I request one Charlie Parker, ofc they played. They played fucking good btw, not just some shitty musicians. They are like music students from some college or so. It took me while to return to my body after this. After they gather around me to chat a little with their shitty English, far worse than their Jazz. It was pretty late though, around 2:00 am, so I had to leave. I searched for this place another day but failed to find it.

My friend put the down payment on his house and paid for his college when he started one of those Diablo 2 shops online. He made a mini fortune quickly, so it's not like we couldn't do that before. huk huk huk
The best 60 Euro is indeed SC2. It is by a large margin the single "cheap" thing I have ever bought that has brought me the most fun. Maybe it is a little pathetic, but it is certainly true.
The best $500 I have ever spent is my bike. I have it already more then 11 years and it has always been a big part of my life. The freedom of movement provided by is difficult to match even with a car - and for the most of these 11 years, I had neither a license nor money to get a car, so the bike meant really the world to me.
1) Fallen chief mid skate shoes ~$60 last 4yrs ago-present.(still in good condition) 2)PSP1000 bought 2nd hand at $40 from a friend.(still using it at this moment) 3)GW2 account I bought by selling my 8yr old free MMO account. 4)Personal Vaporizer
1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD you've ever spent. Captain Nemo's Submarine Sandwich (Nautilus) 2) The best two digit amount you've ever spent. Dinner for my ex because she is allergic to honey and the carrots had a honey glaze/sauce. 3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent. Probably the baitcaster rod/reel combo I bought to go fishing with. Spincasters tire me out when casting all day and aren't as accurate. As a uni student I love to just get out there and relax - and eat fresh fish at the end of it.
Was 112 degrees last week, I saw a small snow cone shop on the side of the road, FUCKING AMAZING, best $4 spent in recent memory, nothing like telling mother nature to go fuck herself with a brainfreeze.
small purchase - A sprinkles cupcake. Dat orgasm in your mouth.
medium purchase - my laptop, ASUS is a great company
Large purchase - my bed...the often overlooked essential that you should never go cheap on. You spend about a third of your life in bed, better get the best one you can afford. It's amazing sleep.
Best three digit amount I've ever spent? Right around $640 - the filing fee for my divorce.
Heart rending at the time, but it prevented all kinds of bullshit in the long run.
Best two digit amount? Pick your poison - SC2 or HotS, or both together. From the amount of time it's given me in playing and fun, the community it's introduced to me, the hours of enjoyment from eSports... seriously, pretty damn rad.
Best under $20? That's a tough one. Might be the tip I gave to the old Mayan guy that gave my ex(now)-wife and I a tour of ancient ruins on Cozumel.
1) Used books. For $3 I bought all of James Clavell's books (my first peak into Asian culture), which got me curious into proper Japanese and Chinese art, poetry, writing and cinema. Those books started a journey of discovery which I am still on to this day, and will be with me for the rest of my life.
2) My first proper $70 knife for the kitchen. I still use it to this day, sharpen it before every time I use it, and while it is not a high end one, it fits my cooking style perfectly; humble home cooking with pretentions of elegance. I am my own greatest critic, but I prefer my cooking to those of most cheap restaurants.
3) DJ Headphones. Paid for themselves many times over by now, though at the time, I just wanted to listen to music properly... and one of the happiest moments of my life was on stage, in front of a small crowd of a hundred people, playing music I made, and seeing them dance their asses off. The feeling when seeing my passion literally move people cannot be replaced.
Those three purchases helped define me as a person, and symbolize to myself everything I hold dear; reading, cooking and music. Those have been with me for years, and have been with me at some of the highest and lowest points of my life.
In the >$20 I would say a "little" game called AI War: Fleet Command. It's not the most popular RTS, but It's definitely up there with Starcraft I/II for my personal favorite games.
There's also this blanket that I bought while I was in SeaWorld a couple years ago. It ended up being a figurative lifesaver when it came time for the night shows, allowing me to keep warm. I still have it since it's really comfy :D
Below 20 is hard, but I want to say seeing machine head.....one of the best shows I ever saw
Best 2 didget would be the 60 pound I paid to see Muse......fucking insane shit
Best over 3 didgets would be my wedding. Came in a just under 5000pound, made half back in gifts and was a great day :D For excactly 3 didgets in Euros would be my PC :D
<15Euro We payed 15 euro (hope this still fits into the category ^^) for a whisky tour around a distillery. At first the old man giving the tour assumed we were just 3 jack-asses that wanted booze and focussed more on the german couple in the group with us. But after we started firing questions and comparisons to other whiskies et at every corner, his attention shifted more towards us, and when the tour finished he ushered us into a seperate room and for about 2 hours we talked whisky, and he gave us some amazing whiskies for no extra charge (a 40y' old one amongst m). 2 digits Starcraft. The amount of hours I've played SC1 (and BW) and the amount of fun i've had with it, the strategic thinking, the competition, my first real lasting introduction to online gaming. Money well spent ^^ 3 digits Has to be my Snowboard (Ride Society). While my other board (Ride SlackCountry) is a close second, the Society has.... so much character. It fucking trashes you down when you ride sloppily, even when it's not neccecary. But if you ride it right, damnit it goes. If you ride the side-pressure right it blasts out of every little turn, and jibs wonderfully and can still handle almost every terrain (it's a bit short for flat'ish offpiste, but hey). Awesome stuff.
April 1998. Starcraft. 40 German Mark. Lasted (if you include Broodwar) me for several thousand games and ~10 years. (That doesn't include watching Esports obviously).
I always spend my money wisely even for all the little things so i really can't say for this 1) The best amount below 15 € / 20 USD you've ever spent. Maybe some cheap booze that I bought when i was in germany rofl.
2) The best two digit amount you've ever spent. JBL's Creature II, still sitting nicely in my room, looks as new as the day I bought it (some day in 2007). I remember it was sold at 99euro rofl.
3) The best three digit amount you've ever spent. i dont really spend on stuffs with that amount unless I have to (flight tickets, course fee etc) but the physical one that lasted me since 2009 is my Thinkpad T61. I have retired it now because i need a smaller one so i got a T410, love them both!!! Sad that I will probably stay with this forever because they fcking dare to change the keyboard in the newer models zzzzzzzz.

I knew it.
That game is so underrated... I still keep my old GBA just because of this game
Bought a 5€ clock when I went to the army, still works just fine and its decent looking so I can even use it in 90% of the time without looking stupid.

I ended up playing this for months and months on a competitive ladder, and eventually became #1 in the world!
I have ALWAYS wondered if there was a community for golf games thats fucking awesome man!
