I don't see how using google and visiting websites that you encounter on the pictures is cheating. It's merely .. a different category, like in speedrunning. It's a very interesting detective work, and over this hour I spent looking for hints I even learned stuff from those locations. As for legit cheating like doing the same places more than once, I did not do that, this is 100% first try. You can cheat by looking up the latitude and longitude coordinates and plug them into Google.
He knows because that's exactly what he did. Sort of sad that he is still claiming he got a perfect score through "research."

Challenge game finished!
You lost the challenge with 32389 points against 32390.

Aww man!
The first picture I got I instantly thought I knew where it was, and was more-or-less right (Lake Louise). Only problem is I didn't point to the right spot; I pointed to Glacier National park instead of Yoho national park. Still only 100km away though.
edit: actually it was Moraine Lake, but that is really super close to Lake Louise. I didn't even know I could move the picture!
Second picture was epically impossible to guess because of the fact it was the middle of freaking nowhere in the north American prairies — no big deal; it's not like it's one of the largest land areas on the whole damn planet!

One of my pictures was at a post office labeled Echo Oregon. LOL.

Rofl.
I just got placed inside what appeared to be a giant ball of fire. Guessed Australia, obviously.

Apparently Co Rd 315/La Barge Creek Rd, Wyoming. Wonder what the google guys got up to out there...

Congrats :D The one that caused me the most trouble was the second one. I went the wrong way on the road so I scrolled for 20 minutes without finding literally anything.
It's not so hard once you know how to do it.

It's a pretty cool game, but i suck at it :D.

>> explore the world >> 4 times in the middle of Nowhere, state of USA got the 4 times right without ever being in the US! the one that wasnt in the US had some bus with a telephone number and text on it. I was gonna say greek but google told me Israel! + Show Spoiler +

i think the average score for this is something like 10k~ without cheating, a bit higher if you get lucky with a location you know.

These barren wastelands are making me depressed.
Grrr, just had a nice close-up of a shop Ottawa 'Shopname' damn thing is in Kansas City.

Has anyone gotten a placement anywhere in Asia, or even the Middle East for that matter (excluding Israel)? I guess Google street view hasn't done that part of the world yet =(
Edit: I'm reading Google street view has been through parts of Japan, Singapore, South Korea, etc. I suppose there's a lot more content from Americas/Europe so the odds are low it would be anywhere else.

I got some random spots in China (Macau and Hong Kong have some roads you can move around on, other places are just random photos: I knew it was China, because of text, but good luck figuring out where in China (I guess an online keyboard and googling the characters could work, but /shrug)

I only got 9k with that. Had no clue what any of them was, so I just hit Australia every time!

10571.
Biggest things I looked for were language and which side of the road the cars were on.
In a few runs I'm finding I'm decent about getting countries right, but never the right part of the country.

Enjoy challenge no4 on this one. It was actually done from the back of a snowmobile.
(You'll beat my score no problem but no4 is just excellent ;p)

What a sick game of detective work. Google maps and google search is your friend though. I hate when I get clear names of streets or towns but they're in a language that uses cyrillic or some character based language because I just have no hope of ever deciphering it. I just spent 20 minutes following this road in Alaska a little down Route 2 outside of Anchorage through the Tanana Valley State Forest on both google maps street view and geoguessr, trying to find a point of comonality because I couldn't make out the damn sign next to the bridge of the creek near where I started. Got within .5 km though. High score so far is ~24221.
