1) Your battery should NOT be dwindling down that quickly at all (I usually lose 10% of my battery overnight). Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809. You can buy the app on Google Play if you wish to support to the author or download it free from that thread. Follow the instructions on that thread and post a log of the results, they will help guide you to what is eating your battery. It will probably be a stray app or something that isn't behaving the way it should. 2) The WiFi problem sounds a little weird. Try going into service mode (dial *#0011#), menu -> wifi -> disable power save mode, let me know if this helps. 3) Twitch.tv android app is notorious for being kinda shit tbh.

S3 is a beast, my iPhone 4 held out FAR longer than my S3. If I go to bed and wake up in the morning, I'm down to like 10% battery... even though I haven't used it and it has just been lying around in sleep mode. I have NO idea where it spends all the energy, but it's annoying as hell having to charge it at least once a day. * Wifi keeps dying. What I mean by this is that if I'm connected to a wifi and my phone goes into an extended sleepmode, or I'm away from the wifi, my phone somehow fucks up the wifi. It says "scanning" in the wifi menu, but it doesn't find anything, just shows my "remembered" wifi connections. I have to turn off wifi, then turn it back on, and BOOM, works perfectly again. This is CONSTANT, I have to do this shit several times a day. * Not really an S3 issue, but why the hell is video quality on video sites so much worse in apps than online? The twitch app is amazing, but the default quality of 226 is HORRIBLE and on tons of streams, you can't pick a better quality... while if I go to twitch.tv in the browser (on the phone that is) and check the same stream, it looks FAAAAR better. Same with low settings on youtube movies. Is there something broke with my phone, or are just android apps crap at showing flash video?
Other than those issues, I love this darn phone.
you have a wakelock from some crappy app constantly using all your battery..

I'm not concerned about protection from drops and such. As far as I know the Incipio Feather seems to suit my needs ( http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-Feather-Samsung-Iridescent-SA-300/dp/tech-data/B008CHKVZC ) but I'm wondering if there's anything else out thinner, either thinner or comparable.
The thing you need to be worried about most is dropping it. Does that thing actually offer any protection for a drop?

Wait wtf :D How much does samsung pay for people making advertisement posts on popular forums?

S3 has the best battery life I've ever experienced out of any smartphone, ever....
My Razer wouldn't last even a full single day. My Galaxy S3 after extensive use maybe uses a third of the entire battery after listening to Pandora all day. I don't have to charge it on a daily basis, it's a crazy weird feeling.

I would expect a lot of glowing reviews in an iPhone thread if there was indeed one.

How is this possible. My S3 has pretty bad batterylife. I barely use it (only during my breaks and lunch time, 1 hour of usage surfing reddit or tl) and by the time im off work it drains at least 40%. Is something wrong with my phone?

Smartphones traditionally have horrendous battery lives compared to phones of old. While old phones could last for days on a single charge, most smart phones can barely last a day without needing a top up. What you are reporting is amazing battery life for a smartphone, assuming you work about 8 hours or so.

The Galaxy S3 is THE phone right now and is ranking #1 on several top 10 phone lists on the internet right now for a reason. Whether that changes when the iPhone 5 is announced/released remains to be seen.

The biggest factor in draining the battery is usually the display. Using a skin for your reddit reader that has white text on black background, this will greatly increase your battery life. Reducing the brightness helps too. Still 40% seems a lot, but I dont own a S3.

Turn on power saver mode, turn off wifi, GPS, bluetooth when you don't need it. That helps alot

That would blow... mine's fairly new, but after using Pandora for like 5 hours at work in an 8 hour workday, I will have over half my battery remaining. If I don't use it really at all during work, I'll probably have 80%+ remaining afterwards.
I don't change my wifi settings or 4g vs 3g settings or anything of that sort at all during the day, ever.

Question for people who have this phone. My Contract is up 1/26/13. So I can upgrade around that time. Do you think the S3 will still be the best phone out there or is there another phone on the horizon that can give it a run for it's money. I have the Galaxy Nexus right now. I don't NEED to replace my phone and I like the nexus but due to something verizon did when I had some billing/plan changes I ended up getting my normal 2 yr contact set to a year instead. So I can renew for a phone discount come 1/26/13 like i said.

We cannot see into the future. I can confidently tell you that the S3 will certainly be in the top 5 phones by January but cannot tell you whether it will still be the best, especially with phones like the iPhone 5 coming out soon. Ask us again closer to the date.

At the moment SGS3 is far and away the best phone, and by 1/26 I don't think any major competitors with the exception of those two phones will really emerge. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Of course, nobody knows what the iP5 will look like, but the Note 2 (also a samsung product) is a really big phone, something like 5.3" for the original Note and will likely have very nice specs.
My SGS3 is fantastic, but my power button tends to stick and wake-up/shut down the display in semi-rapid succession on occasion, which is my only major complaint. So far it has been bearable though and otherwise everything is fantastic. I'm not sure exactly where to take it since I bought it online, so I'll just have to suck it up I guess.
I'm rooted already and with kexec I'm able to flash roms. However, I'm waiting for a stable release of CM10 for the verizon sgs3 before I do anything in terms of roms. Overall fantastic device and pretty nice battery life even on 4G. If you download an app called "phone info" from the play store, it's also possible to turn off 4G and use 3G. On 3G you're also able to place calls and browse the internet at the same time lol, pretty good. Other than that....oh there's also the annoying wifi notification, which may be turned off by getting a SQLite editor (e.g. SQLite editor on the play store lol), and setting the wifi notification to 0 by going through settings. If anyone would like to know exactly how to do it, I can just link you the articles ^^

Errr Yeah it's actually quite embarrassing haha. With verizon, you can't just go into settings/wireless&networks or whatever it is to switch to 4G unfortunately. On the bright side the app is free, very small, and simple to use, but yeah.
Also this problem is limited to VERIZON alone, so on the bright side, unless they're your provider, there should be no problem. The only reason I'm with them anyway is that I have a grandfathered unlimited plan So using 4G actually doesn't really matter for me anyway other than the fact that it drains my battery more quickly.
