The biggest winner of this election Nate Silver.

Somewhat upsetting result, the saddest thing is that we now get four more years of the exact same thing we've had for four years. Hopefully Obama can actually be effective for his second term now that he won't waste his time campaigning. Can't say that the better man for the job won, but I'm optimistic about the next four years. I just don't like Obama's fiscal policies and I hope that whoever comes after him will be extraordinary enough to deal with the deficit. Anyways, good election. I hope that what America wants will be good for it, but I worry.
(If Romney still wins popular vote, man I'm gonna be pissed. But California will probably give Obama the lead there too)

I predicted a large win. I'll own it. I was wrong. The polls weren't biased. The Democrats weren't lying. I would like to blame this on the media, and on the education system, and on all those things which, in my opinion, should prevent what has just occurred. But it is not the fault of the media, nor the system. It is the fault of Republicans and conservatives. Our failures are somewhat out of my reach to understand, though I recognize their existence.
Sadly, you will not be getting a picture. Instead, I'll give you an honest appraisal:
You've won a great victory for your side.
It's a sad day for me, lads, and a happy one for you. Cheers and good fun. I think I'm gonna take a nice, long break and take a nice, long look at who I am and where I am. Until we meet again, keep the faith.
The GOP needs a new platform. Straight-up. There's a need for American conservatism. But the GOP is not that party anymore. It's some weird mish-mash of Neocon agendas, xenophobia and bible-thumping. Dude, the GOP controls the house and looks like t hey lost the presidential election by 1%. AGAINST AN INCUMBENT. Don't think losing against an incumbent by 1% is a signal the party is doomed or something; talk about an overreaction. But he's right about the Republican message. You have to consider all the people who were simply voting against Obama, and not for the Republicans.

It's funny how large the gap is between electoral and popular.
Educated politicians vs the mob, speaks for itself.

You know things are bad when you're questioning your own decision desk in the hopes you prove them wrong.

For those who were wondering about it, looks like the popular vote game closed from 1M to 500k in the space of about half an hour, so I really won't be surprised if Obama still ends up carrying the popular vote.

I've been saying for years that the GOP is going to eventually move to be more socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Specifically, as Generation X ages and moves further into the leadership the party will shift. Mainly, deficit hawks that believe in individual freedoms.
We'll see over the next decade if I'm right or not.

Oh lord, this Fox broadcast.

anyone watching fox right now? rofl. what going on?

This is messed up (not really), but listening to the dejected and helpless Fox News team has made my evening. Karl Rove has hope though!

Oh yay, USD tanking, with less USD purchasing power fucking oil prices will go up which causes my fucking wallet to get shit on at the pump. Just about the only issue that matters to myself as a young professional trying to save as much money as I can right now. I lose out on time value of money from a market that isn't going to thrive under 4 more years of Obama and less money I can even attempt to save, awesome.
Gold is rallying because this is a stock market held up on a house of cards (quantitative easing 3 or to infinity and beyond as the Fed can reevaluate at all times) from Ben Bernanke. Think about it, fucking GOLD is rallying and not something that matters for the US consumer (USD). Global growth is slowing and we just put in another couple years of divided politics that has shown they can't battle a massive and growing US debt too. We've bailed out our own markets with Bernanke's drugs, but gravity is setting in on global economics. Are we going to go Germany and start bailing out our neighbors? Hell no. Hope you all enjoy your shit 401(k) and ROTH IRA returns in those nice diversified stock portfolios. Should have been long gold and short USD! S&P 500 target of 1250 by year end from GS looks like a good bet now. If you don't have either a ROTH or 401(K) you probably shouldn't have voted. You don't even know what it's like to have and manage your own retirement money. If you don't know what either are you should get a job.

i thought obama was suppose to lose in a landslide lol

Watching Fox News literally run around their offices trying to justify a non-call on Ohio is hilarious to watch.

Exactly! Well said. The very conception of American Conservatism needs to be re-examined. It remains steeped in Constitutional language but it's practice is often repressive. This seems ridiculous to say due to it's seemingly obvious nature, but this party needs to move to the center.
Shocking.
