I'm a big fan of American Idol and figured there should be a results / discussion thread for this season.
Week 2 (Top 13)
Out of the top 25 (13 boys and 12 girls) the top 5 in votes from each group made it to the top 13 plus each judge got to save one.
Top 5 Boys: Colton Dixon, Heejun Han, Jermaine Jones, Joshua Ledet, and Phillip Phillips
Top 5 Girls: Elise Testone, Hollie Cavanaugh, Jessica Sanchez, Shannon Magrane, and Skylar Laine
3 Boys and 3 Girls were chosen to sing a lost song to try to get one of the judges saves.
Brielle Von Hugel, Jen Hirsch, Reed Grimm, Deandre Brackensick, Erika Van Pelt and Jeremy Rosado were chosen to sing.
Deandre Brackensick, Erika Van Pelt and Jeremy Rosado were chosen by the judges to advance giving you your top 13!

The Top 13 will perform on Wednesday (3/7) 8/7c
The Top 13 results will be on Thursday (3/8) 8/7c
The boys will be performing songs by Stevie Wonder while the girls perform songs by Whitney Houston.
I'll add a poll next week (since the polls seem to only go to 12 on TL)

+ Show Spoiler +The auditions are over and we're now down to the top 24! ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/O89oK.jpg) Week 1 of the Live Performances will feature the Top 13 Boys* and the Top 12 Girls The Top 13 Guys will perform on Tuesday (2/28) 8/7c The Top 12 Girls will perform on Wednesday (2/29) 8/7c And results are on Thursday (3/1) 8/7c *They announced that a 13th boy would be on the live shows as a surprise announcement. Based on the graphic they showed it will be Jermaine Jones, David Leathers Jr., Richie Law, or Johnny Keyser
This is my first thread, so if you have ideas for how I can spruce up the thread, please let me know.

Why is this show still going on? If I recall correctly, it hasn't produced a star since Season 3.

heejun most entertaining~ some of them can actually sing this year but they are all so boring x_x except heejun~

Guess that depends on what kinda music you listen to...
Season 4: Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood
Season 5: Katherine McPhee (now on that new show 'Smash')
Season 6: Jordin Sparks
Season 8: Adam Lambert
Certainly none of them are superstars necessarily, but they've made a career out of it... I don't think the point in watching the show (at least for me) is necessarily to produce a star but rather to listen to people sing songs and every once in a while to get that person who is really creative about how they do so.

Yeah, Heejun is definitely my favorite. As far as the other contestants being boring... we get to see such a small part of them up until now that they are very one-dimensional until the live shows... I presume that we'll find a few more of the contestants to be interesting as time passes.

Heejun was pretty funny during the first group stage lol. His view of cowboys will be forever ruined.
So far i like reed a lot and the guy with the kid.

Yeah, Reed kinda reminds me of Casey from last year, and I liked Adam Brock's "White Chocolate" sound

Well Carrie Underwood is definitely a superstar. By far the most successful AI contestant, surpassing even Kelly Clarkson.

I wish the judges would have saved Reed Grimm. He was so unique and brought some serious creativity to the show. I guess not meant for the mainstream masses, oh well. However, Jeremy Rosado and Deandre really make me want to vomit. Jeremy is just so bland and boring. Deandre is at least unique, but he's too shaky and pitchy way too often.
Anyways, Phillip Phillips will win this show hands down. He's got the Kris Allen vibe goin on and that's what the female audience loves (which is all that matters). He's good, but not my favorite. In fact, I don't even have a favorite at this point.

Just watching the chick's performance of I Can't Make You Love Me now. God she is horrible. I can't stand Phillip Phillips either, I really don't know what his appeal is - none of his songs are catchy, nor do I find them 'cool' because they're deliberately not catchy. Truth be told these four remaining contestants make this the worst season IMO.

I'm not a big fan of any of the contestants that are left. I think all the good ones got voted off already. I'm convinced that the fix is in by the judges, and Jessica Sanchez is going to win. The judges already saved her once, and actually looked offended that she was supposed to go home that week.
