I don't know anything about the type of skin, etc. But I was looking at tojgallery and a lot of the motos on there fit really awkwardly, like kind of bulky, whereas an intarsia or ccp fencing jacket fits much more slim, is that intended? And is there a cheaper alternative for something like the ccp fencing jacket? traditional motos are supposed to fit a bit bulky, the iterations created for consumer wear are simply a designer's individual interpretation; the whole thing is analagous to the many ma-1 designs repurposed for civilian wear. that aside, a lot of the people that post pictures either sized wrong, don't really have a good grasp of their proportions and mistakenly size incorrectly even when it's mtm, or simply wanted a boxier fit.
TOJ is inferior to both Julius and RO (even though the leathers used for RO's 2012 & 2013 jackets have been significantly less substantial). while we're on this topic, I think most people are of the opinion that rick's 09 oiled calf is one of the best outside guidi leather and the like. Julius and RO each have their respective strengths in leathers. Julius tends to have better wash and treatment (blistered ram!!) whereas RO focuses more on the grain and thickness of a skin. either way, both of them are far superior to TOJ. I hate to sound like I keep knocking on TOJ's work, but the comparison is moot. if we were being hyperbolic, it's like comparing a M3 to a McLaren P-1. ofc, the M3 and TOJ jackets are both almost unbeatable in their pricepoint and market position.
as for a cheaper CCP, I think Julius made a fencing jacket in a similar vein but that's also hard to come by and prohibitively expensive as well. (tbh the Julius version was pretty different but for the sake of keeping this simple, I'll just use it as an example)

Do you have any advice on how to get the best measurements for a leather jacket? I'm currently using the p2p and s2s of a well fitting t-shirt. I want the jacket to fit slim. I'm not paying much attention to sleeve or mid and waist sections. I think give or take an inch for sleeves won't matter. I doubt the waist will matter either as long as the p2p is correct. I feel like this is one of those things you really have to try on in person but it's hard. Can you name some other specific models or brands that are slim and minimal like intarsia, fencing, etc, etc, for like... not super duper expensive? Just so I know what to keep an eye on when I browse marketplaces. Thank you.

Well it depends on how much is expensive to you as well.
If you commute + work + no girlfriend (literally the worst out of everything combined if you do have one when it comes to expenses) + minimal expenses with other things like food/entertainment, $800 really isn't that much and you can easily get a second hand Rick Owens intarsia on y!jp
Otherwise you can just look at Schott leathers, they're like mid-range in regards to pricing I suppose and you can look up minimal biker jackets (racers, I think they're called?)
I personally like leathers that stand out a bit more (double riders/perfectos look fucking badass on skinny people imo).
i want a high neck intarsia lmao

measurements for tees are different because you don't have to account for a jacket's lining and the innate thickness of the leather. talk to the person you're doing mtm with, they should know what to do and how to compensate for it.
I got no clue when it comes to other brands, maybe other people are going to be more helpful in this regard. most of the more affordable brands are replicas of more traditional styling, so probably not what you are looking for.
i dislike the way intarsias look unzipped so idk actually i dislike the way most leathers look unzipped except for julius's jut necks and fencing jackets. incarnation's high necks are completely opposite though, they look great unzipped (or unzipped halfway) and awful fully zipped

I'm not buying mtm, most likely used so I need to be absolutely right on measurements.
|
What do you think about AllSaints' leather jackets? They look cool on site, but no picture of them zipped. It's probably not so good leather too right?
|
AllSaints leather is generally atrocious quality for the price you're paying.

What should I look for in a peacoat?
And any Torontonians know where I can get a pair of Red Wings? I almost bought a pair in the States but they didn't have any in 9.5.

there's like hundreds of red wings on grailed if you're sure about your size.
