I'd get it brought in at the waist a little bit, and there are these little poofy bits past the shoulder that I dont like.

looks good but the length is too long. You'll also need wide bottoms to match. Shoulders are fine.

It also has functioning buttons so the sleeves cant be shortened either. Length can't be shortened on this can it? People are crazy, there are only 2 left in the country for a size 4 from the store i checked out. As you can tell, its still summer where I am lol.

eh might just be the angle then, but no length can't really be altered, the sleeves are fine though. It might just be me but it looks like it should fit a bit shorter. Something like this:

You can try sizing down but I don't think the upper half will fit. Most Schneider outerwear has the same silhouette but varying length. To be safe I'd just take the measurements and get something like the Algae, they're about the same price. Which store are you in? There are a bunch of NA stockists. Gravitypope, other shop, Suspension Point in CA, Forward, La Garconne, maas stacks, NMWA, few more in US. It's good you have the convenience of trying it on in person but you don't have to buy it retail as long as you know your size. Also beware that a lot of Schneider piece sizes differently and one apart, 4=5 for some, 5=6, etc.

i actually think the shoulders are a touch wide, the fold/bunching at the shoulder seam is evident
the effect is pronounced because the fabric is thick enough so that it looks semi structured, and i think the coat would fit better if it were maybe .25" narrower. but i doubt sizing works like that, just a nitpick.

and the coat is supposed to fit like that so I'd avoid getting it taken in. i think it'll look different with layers underneath and trousers instead of shorts.

I think he got the right size, but I'd prefer if the shoulders were a tiny bit narrower. if he got a size down it may look completely different and not the way the designer intended it to be.
this is one of those issues where the body doesn't fit the garment and you'll either have to tailor it a tiny bit, order a size down to try it out, or roll with the one you have now. I'm more comfortable keeping it as is despite my gripes.

I'm also completely sure it's a different design compared to the lookbook model in fw11 (no detachable knit lining, ribbed at sleeves and botton, jacket vs coat, etc). the one from frozen waves was called the alpaca hooded jacket (I think?), this is completely different and far more loose fitting, although the hood is relatively the same.

Yeah, I don't really know what the designer wants it to look like, but sleeves are too long, that I'm sure of, and shoulders are maybe a bit wide too, though it's less of a deal breaker. Those 2 are usually a good tell that you can try to downsize, from my experience.

Edit: Yeah, actually shoulders are fine :D. But sleeves. There is really no way too long sleeves can be flattering on that kind of piece.

I suppose the ideal body type would be taller than 5'7. If i wear a sweater it would probably look better in the shoulders. I have another couple days to decide before my hold on it expires. What do you think of the length of both the coat and sleeves? I'll see if they have a size 3 just to see how it fits

I think, given the picture, that your fit is good, but the sleeves are a bit long. Which makes it a hard problem to solve :/, unless too long sleeves don't bother you.
