Metric is the standard system pretty much any where in the world outside former english colonies.

I don't care for larger numbers this is just a comment on how american porn culture has influenced me who lives in Australia and uses the metric system 0.O

I work for a company that designs and makes lab equipment. All measurements are in mm and Celsius, and thats the way i like it. What i cant stand are the people who use 2 systems simultaneously. me: "What are the dimensions for the box? " idiot: "50cm by 50cm by 1 foot" I personally would like to use kelvin instead of celcius, but that would confuse too many people. I think the problem is education. I only got taught metric at school, and yet teachers and my parents would all give peoples weight and height in stone/pounds and feet/inches.

Oddly enough, I use feet/pounds when I talk about weight/height Furthermore, at one point I did some first year physics and they gave you problems using imperial units for you to convert. Impossible task without google. Assholes

So I stopped using it. Pretty sure its the old way of spelling it though, and its simply transformed into a word that easier to roll of your tongue.

If you mean technically as in how to use it in a technical field, I can say in engineering which is my field that you MUST say 0.5 meters or even 0.231 meters and not 231 mm because in complex calculations you have to do everything in SI units otherwise the conversions can get complicated real fast, and the SI unit is the meter not mm or cm.
