Yes (having now read the full context of her condition) that was too much. But corporal punishment overall isn't bad. For me it was the continuation of the conversation that got me riled up. Corporal punishment is fine, I myself was raised with corporal punishment as a possibility, but the fact that he didn't let it go was a bit much for me. Honestly, everyone's going to freak out and say she should be removed from the house, but I think that's ridiculous. She got belted. Woo hoo. Getting belted hurts like a son of a bitch, but it's nothing seriously harmful. And please don't pull the "mentally scarring" card out. It's not. I promise you. I think its sickening that some people think its ok to beat a child. Or anyone for that matter. In many civilized countries he would have gone to jail for something like that. I belive he should have.

Even assuming you covered up like a turtle your face is wide open for a stomping. You can only defend so many things at once and feet hurt like hell. At some point people have to stand up for themselves. They shouldn't have to because people shouldn't be assholes but the level of abuse people will put up with, whether its your dad beating you, your boyfriend cheating on you or anything in between is staggering. It becomes beyond thought at some point. yeah but you cant always defend yourself.....and i doubt most people will be scanning for weaknesses. actually im doubting if anyone would.

Grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends families and family friends. If you tell someone that your parent beats the hell out of you someone is going to help you out. Not to mention my mom would have left him so fast it'd make his head spin. Has everything to do with this situation. She did have Palsy but she wasnt mentally retarded (if she was that be a super different story). She was still aware of what was happening. Good for you that you have people that take you in if you were ever kicked out young. But most people dont have that someone thats why there are foster homes, or they end up be prostitutes. Sometimes feeding an extra mouth is too much, and a relative cannot take you in.

It is him and the mother who brought the girl on the earth, and if he gives the girl rules to follow, she should listen to whatever he says until she reaches the age of 18 imo. Do I think it's the way to go about it? No - But if you made the child, you should be allowed to have the power to influence them in the way you please. Influence? Yes But this has nothing to do with that... This isnt an influence... its a violent action against a child. Having brought the child into this world does not give you the right break the law with respect to them, namely, assaulting them. Always. Always, on TL, you have "that guy" who's incapable of higher thinking yet insisting on playing devil's advocate. Honestly, how do you get something good out of "Bend over or I'll slap your fucking face"? Suddenly he's a good guy now because he doesn't scar her face even though he can? You also realize that having visible scars just means people are going to start asking questions. We get it, you don't want to conform. Please stop embarrassing yourself.

But I were in her place, at 16, with that happening. Given other experiences. I'm sorry to say that one person or another would not be making it out of that room alive. Good thing I wasn't in her place. This video just disgusts me, hope something terrible happens to that judge.

Hopefully they will work it out. My biggest hope is that he is not actually abusive. I did see the video but i would not call it real abuse per say just maybe not controlling his anger well thats my hope at least.

You don't have to scan to find the balls. Everyone learns at a young age a hit to the area gets a certain paralyzing reaction. If it gets covered theres still plenty of super fun squishy areas to assault. I'm telling you it doesn't become about figuring out what to do. If you ever get to that point it becomes "him or me" in your brain. Thought goes out the window and it's pure primal instinct. Now you may lose the fight at the end of the day but that's not even in the picture. The concerns of consequences aren't there. It's not like you're a pro fighter strategizing and playing chess. It's "go for the balls! Alright, now go for anything that's free! If he kills me whatever, I'm not standing for this anymore!"

The way he speaks in the begging, saying "go get my belt" in such a nonchalant - seems like this isnt the first time this has occurred. He's probably been repeatedly abusive to her - and probably the wife too, considering the line "take it like a grown woman." Seems like its an implication that she's learned to 'take it'. Also, Thinking about it more .. I feel like when he literally says the phrase "So I can beat you" ... the choice of words is very telling. Not punish, not scold... not 'teach you a lesson'....beat. Quite disturbing really.

Didn't say she was but she's not a healthy individual either. If she was retarded there'd be a lynch mob at the dudes door. I know people who left home at 16 and panned out fine. It's not the norm but if you know virtually ANYONE outside of your house they'd help. Even if you had to play musical chairs with houses for the next few years because one friend couldn't help you for more than a few days a month that'd still be better than that life.

That's wrong AND illegal in so many ways . . . whether it's abnormal or not is irrelevant to the legality. What he did was severe and violent. He could EASILY be charged with Domestic violence, 2nd degree assault and battery (against a minor, a serious aggravating factor), 4th degree sexual assault, child abuse, and criminal threatening. I just took an exam in a Criminal Law class on crimes against a person, and spend the past week studying penal code, oddly enough. So anyone who says what this person did isn't illegal is wrong.

Unless you got discipline like this and decided to change. Hell look at Muslim practices. They kill their daughter for not obeying. Asian kids in probably get disciplined even worse. Hell at the end of the day asians still doing the best in the world. People keep on saying she got whooped just for using the computer have to remember that this was in 2004 and using the computer was like playing ur playstation. Remember parents always got mad when you over played video games.
