Yeah, I've been cramming for the last 15 hours straight for the AP Biology exam. I haven't really done anything this year, so I'm trying to fit everything into one day . Anyways, has anyone taken this test? Whats it like?
And would it be wise to try staying up all night to take this test? Its the first thing in the morning, I'll be done before noon. I think I can tough it out for 12 more hours with some red bull(12:00 right now). Or should I just go to bed now and pray for the best? I screwed up a practice exam I took and got a high 3 - It might end up being a 2 with the essays... T___T.
|
kek i've got an ordinary differential equations final and an organic chemistry II final BACK TO BACK tomorrow morning
i too will be staying up all night gogogo
procrastination for the win
but no seriously you should try to sleep a bit before the test, even if its just two hours, anything helps. otherwise you can't focus T.T gl hf

Get 6 hours of sleep or u won't remember as much when it's time to take the exam. Sleep, then review beforehand. Good luck.
|
sleeping 2 hours would be so stupid
go to bed
eat a real breakfast
duh

Don't stay up all night. Wake up early and cram. Its a 3 hour tests and if you aren't acquainted with taking exams like that then don't push it.
I took it like 4 years ago and if it hasn't changed then it's not terrible as long as you kept pace with the material somewhat.
I can't give you any real advice so far as multiple choice, but for the free response just push every fact you can possibley remember. The sentences don't have to be flowy or rich. In fact, if you intend to finish on time load every sentence with as many facts as you possibly can. If it's relevant, they will have to give you a point for each one.

hahs sleep is definetly better. I gotta cram majorly for the ap chem test on tuesday.

I am completely screwed on the MC I think (The essays are just beyond repair too ). On the practice one, I think I missed a massive clump of like 15 questions. Gah... I haven't been keeping up in class. Its the class right before physics so I've just been doing physics homework during class t________t. Procrastination is going to bite me in the back.

bio tomorrow also :D
GL yo
Practice test i got a 5, almost a 4...but then again it was curved based on my class's score so i dotn think its accurate. the essays we used (taken from 2004 exam) i thought were really easy, but now im concerned because what if they give me some essays i dont know crap about -_-;;;
GO FOR 5
|
good luck to you too.
Bah, I'm going to need some divine intervention for that 5.
|
I never studied for AP bio and I got a 5 ;D
|
for the essay, if you can't think of anything, my best suggestion is to bs. it worked out fine on AP History, and espcially AP Government :D
|
T_T, what was the secret? My brain is about to explode .
Ahh, I am t3h master of bs'ing :p. Thats what I did on the Euro essays ^^.
|
Don't worry about it guys.
AP's aren't a big deal, and if you're a really efficient crammer it is really easy to just pass. Most people that don't pass AP Bio are usually just people not cut out for higher level sciences. It's a lot of information, and if it doesn't interest or stick with you, there isn't that much that can be done.
That said, I know more than a few people that took the Cliffs AP bio review book, studied the hell out of that for one week, and got 4's and 5's.
Good luck guys.

I took the AP history exam on Friday. I didn't think it was that bad, but the essays were about stupid things.
|
I'm pretty sure I pwnt the AP Euro MC with a couple days of cramming the book.
But this completely blows my mind. I've been worshiping the Cliff's AP book for the past 15 hours, and its still confusing. I don't get what is going on. I mean, I do fine in physics and math and all. But what the hell is this t_T.
|
lol my friend that is a Junior told me she's taking bio exam in a church, which will make her not go to heaven :p "who talks about evolution in the house of god?!"
 sleep, ofcorse.

if you need to study just stay up all night studying, it's not that crazy, just do it. you'll have adrenaline and be alert for the test don't worry... it's all about your own personal willpower
the most i've done is stay up all night studying for an exam, sleep two hours after it then stay up all night again writing two papers... then pass out for like 18 hours
your body can take it
|
i didn't study for any of my ap's except for apush, because i was only a sophomore then and it was my first ap ever
if your teacher gives you review packets do all of those, and get ap review books from princeton or kaplan or whatever

HAHA me 2. 1-3-5. Number three was easy other than the fact that i didn't know how the westerners cared about the mexican war.

Not sleeping before an exam would be like toiling for 15 hours trying to pry someone's hand free from in between large bits of metal...and once it was finally free you lead them to an equally difficult turnstile.
Get some sleep.

am gonna go to sleep now so i get 6 hours of sleep for the test
gl hf go own it up
edit: wow all 3 posts in the same minute +_+

Hmm, I think the last one was about 60's stuff... civ rights etc. Easy shit, but I didn't study. I think the westerners felt that a war with spain would let them expand to the pacific coast, thus fulfilling manifest destiny. New englanders were against it because of slavery and population drain...
My advice is that you goto sleep RIGHT NOW so you're fresh tomorrow. Trust me, if you pull an all nighter, you'll drop dead in the test. It's not too difficult, the most important thing is time management. Doing about 70% on the MC + average on the essays = 4, and with a little luck, you can pull a 5.
p.s. does your teacher change your grade depending on what you get on AP test?
|
ap bio is easy i didn't study at all and i got a 5
|
Just took the exam. I left 16 blank in the multiple choice, since our teacher never went over plants, the human body, or ecology. And then I got the first two in the free response while bsing the last two. What percent do you need for a 4?
And what the hell is an angiosperm....
|
Frozzor what did you get as your final grade in the class? Or did you just get lucky? Or is the national percentile that low?
|

isn't that part of a male part of a weeds reproductive tract? i don't remember exactly, i took the test some time ago.
sucks how you never ent over ecology and the human body. thats basically the entire last half of the book. good luck anyway, you probably did fine.
|
Angiosperm is a flowering plant. I can't believe your teacher never went over plants! That's so vital, your teacher must really suck.
|
It just sucks that you need to get a 4 or 5. Even if you get a 3, it's just as much credit as a 1. And I am never retaking this course.

Well, it doesn't really matter unless your majoring in a field that requires sciences. If you do premedicine or want to major in something like chemical engineering or any other rigorous science class you'll have to retake biology in college anyway because APs aren't the real deal when it comes to "college coursework" material.
And if you don't major in these fields and just want credits in science so you can bypass them altogether, there are always interesting alternatives, like Sexuality in Film. It's a porno class.

i'm AP test progamer
took 12 AP exams hoho
never took bio tho t.t
|
just took it..so exhausting
multiple choice was not bad..
BUT HOLY crap the essay section was exactly the stuff i did not study
enzymes werent bad, i think i did ok
chromosomes uhh..bad..wtf prokartoyic chromosomes? TTa
angiosperms destroyed me because i dont like plants at all
and finally immune response owned me i just talked about other immune stuff that didnt have to do with the question
GG GO FOR 4
|
shit. That MC pwned me. Wtf the on neutron one. And wtf on the C+G nucleotide one? t_T
Essays... got the enzymes... got the chromosomes... got the angiosperms (somewhat, except for the last one about alternations, didn't know we were supposed to mention haploid/diploid, did something totally diff.), that immune system one pwned me hard t_T. Haha, I only did one of em correctly i think, the "self and nonself" one :-p.
That MC was hard as shit, some were okay, but others I was like "wtf is this poo poo?" I want a 4 t_T.

If theres anything I learned from high school, is that you cannot cram for AP tests. Its a different ballgame from finals and midterms, in that you need to attend class, take copious amounts of notes, and study like crazy. Exception is econ, that was ridiculously easy.
|
dude im taking that too and i didnt study a second. we took a practice test in school and i got in the supposed top 1% of 5's and i cant say i even learned much in the class...... relax, its not that hard, just get some sleep ;p

It worked for euro for some reason , but apparently its not going to work for sciences. I thought I could just cram for a couple hours straight and get my 5, but apparently its a bit harder than that :-/.
Ah, I already took it and got the goodnight's sleep (4 hours haha).
|
psychology is another damn easy exam. i studied for 2 days i think for about 5 hours...so simple. take that class if u have it available! easiest 5 ever
|
man i've been taking AP tests all last week and just took bio today... next i got art history (wednesday).
|
last year, having taken one ap test, i thought i would be half dead around this time. but you know, it's not even that bad. :O it kind of sucks that i have school tmorw... it's been like a week hah

lol i have art history on wednesday also
I have no idea what's going on and am probably not gonna study for it much though...the practice tests i've seen are pretty easy, just the essay requires a lot of thought (aka a lot of bs and putting stuff into context).
hopefully am not screwing myself over -_-
|
yea i completely agree... i just hope that i recognize the pieces if they ask me to identify. :D
and bsing the essays for sure... 'the texture is blah blah, the color signifies blah blah...'
