Legs are less visible, less prestigious, and I think they require more effort to add mass in general. Pretty natural that leg day is the first to go when laziness kicks in.

I think it's mainly the fact that people like to be able to walk.

Not so sure about that (old, yet on point, picture): + Show Spoiler + Walking is so last millennium!

Its because no one objectifies guy's legs like they do women's legs.

I started this morning by falling full-length onto the floor.

Only people who haven't done a good leg day hate leg day. Leg day is best day.

Gotta listen to your body though, no point in hobbling yourself for the sake of calf definition.

Also, it is really hard for men to show off their legs. Male fashion is usually pretty baggy and unrevealing in that area. The most leg you can usually show without looking like a complete sloth are something like 3/4 pants. Neither do men usually wear very tight pants, nor do they have anything even remotely as cool as skirts. Thus, the only time when people really see your legs is usually when you are swimming.

Objectify is more than just thoughts.
We don't have movie posters for James Bond films that's just a close up of a guys leg, or horror movies where it's just a close up of a guy's calf. Action movies where half of the image is the guy's body from the waist down pants less.
We don't have commercials equating a mans leg with other objects to be desired. We don't have commercials that places emphasis on the guys legs as the main reason to watch the commercial.
As such, there isn't a sense of zeitgheist awareness of the importance of a mans leg in order to be given value, worth, or attention.
Do women crave it? Of course they do. But not society. Society tells us it's women's legs we care about.

Hm I actually wear swimming trunks almost exclusively during summer season, even at work. I work in an office with no customer contact so nobody cares. I also only wear shoes when the asphalt is too hot for me to walk on. Call me weird if you like but I really couldn't care less what my clothing looks like as long as it's comfortable to wear.
