The one time I called they seemed very relaxed, but not sure how they'd react to a turtle injury. I can't really imagine that it'd be worse than them telling me that they don't handle that. But yeah... maybe I'm a bit naive here, and it works differently internationally.

I am not sure if you can't be fined for doing that here. At least I would expect that you will be told to fuck off briskly. Hmm, that'd be a bit depressing if that is the case... Would be interesting to find out.
Well, firstly, it was a parallel, because calling the number 911 will get you exactly nowhere here. The best equivalent is probably the "european unified emergency number" 112, which is however just a call center that will direct your request towards a specific agency and is targeted primarily towards people outside their home country, so that they know the number at all times.
In Czech republic, there are four basic emergency numbers that you cal call and the go to emergency medical care, fire department, state police and town police respectively. These are also the actual destination where calling 112 will eventually get you. Each of them has a pretty specific purpose - I'd guess that you could try calling town police, which can get you your local patrol officer to respond, which is in general the person who you would ask for help if you met him on street and also it does the least harm, because town police is generally useless anyway - but it doesn't exist everywhere, only in municipalities that chose to fund one. The rest of the numbers have a specific purpose related to safety of people and are generally overloaded, so calling in on behalf of a turtle doesn't seem to be a good idea.
I was able to confirm that "Misuse of an emergency line" is an infraction and subject to fine up to 4000 Euro in Czech Republic, however it's not clear how this is used in practice.

I'm not sure but I think you can call numbers like 911 and 112 when an animal is in a serious emergency. I think every country has a dedicated veterinary emergency number too, at least mine does
|
yea don't call 911 for animals and tie up the emergency line. it's only when you require immediate police, fire, or emergency medical services for humans.
use the non-emergency line.

This is such a trivial yet intruiging question, I couldn't help but dig deeper. It turns out, that in the capital city (and only there), 112 will actually connect you to a dedicated veterinary ambulance if needed - in other places, you are probably out of luck, but 112 will at least not yell at you likely. I still haven't found any official material from the other hotlines that would anyhow mention veterinary emergencies (and some of them are pretty specific as what to be calling about). There are of course private 24h veterinary services, but outside Prague, they aren't in the system.

Thanks, interesting info!

I hate silverfish and seeing him catch one made my night and I'd like to reward him. How can I best do this? I was thinking I'd place a small scrap of food beneath his web that would attract more bugs to him. Any ideas? Good news everyone. I decided to give him a small cube of ham as reward a couple of days after posting this. Unfortunately that drew no bugs whatsoever. Tonight however, I found another silverfish wandering around in my bathroom and I decided that my new friend hasn't eaten in a while. After getting Mr. Silverfish on some toilet paper, I dropped him in Spider's corner of the bathroom, right next to the toilet. Within 10 minutes or so, under my watchful gaze, Spider swung heroically off his web and pounced on Mr. Silverfish, who had mistakenly ventured too close underneath Spider. He was quickly hoisted back up into the web and preserved for Spider to snack on as he pleases.
Pic + Show Spoiler + You can see my ham cube reward and the remains of Spider's past meals as well!

Is it possible to hotwire a car made past 2001?

Depends on which theft deterrents are being used and where you draw the line between "hot wiring" and (MW's) "hacking". Increasing digital components and decreasing mechanical components has blurred the line. But the traditional idea of "hotwiring" won't work in many modern cars, though there are exceptions primarily around budget model vehicles/non-US models.

No more just touching wires I guess, thanks

is it possible to teach yourself computer aided drafting or do you need to actually take a class on it?
|
You can teach yourself almost anything if you are dedicated enough and not utterly stupid. Especially now that a vast amount of knowledge on almost any subject is available on the internet for free, and even more if you have access to a university library.
It is usually more effective to have someone knowledgeable help you with the knowledge acquisition process though. You can often skip a few hours or days of looking for some information with half a sentence of knowledge. Not saying that you don't learn useful things during that process either, but if you can afford a reasonable teacher, he will usually save you a lot of time learning stuff.
