I actually did this today while trying to say kk. kk is in my experience a way of saying k without the possibility of sounding like you're mad or don't give a shit about the subject. And now I read the post above you. Confused now. I get kaykaykay in speech, but not in typing.

Actually, in this case, said person told Koreans not to use 'kkk' for expressing laughter. A multitude of k's (kk, kkk, ...) is sometimes used when someone wants to express that he/she understands that something is important (the more k's, the more important it is). Also, it's sometimes used to express that the other person is nagging too much. These are just examples that I know of, not something that should be put too much thought in. Instead of typing 'lol', or 'hahahaha', Koreans type 'ㄱㄱㄱㄱㄱㄱ' (which sounds like kekekekekeke; ㄱ has the g/k sound), so they type 'kkkkkk'. Brazilians use kkk for laughter too.

I am also not convinced of that statement, i am pretty sure there are situations where despite the fact that you are alive, it is not okay. Take for example this situation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Got_His_Gun Alive, but it is definitively not okay.

Does dangling imply that 'you' is less than 10 feet above the pit of lava? I wouldn't say so. Think of Frodo at the end of Lord of the Rings (film) in Mount Doom. He was quite far from the lava imo but dangling (or could have).
