The dude who got sucker punched should have taken into account a simple cause and effect logic before he started wailing on the car, and maybe then he wouldn't have been sucker punched.

Oh I know. Okay well maybe the wife of a 300lb body builder owned it, but the point is, the guy who was mindlessly destroying someone else's property didn't know that, and didn't care about the effect of him causing damage to the vehicle. In this case the effect was being sucker punched.

I have never understood that logic. Ofcourse there is a difference between using force to hurt people / destroy peoples property or using force to defend people / peoples property.
Whether you like it or not but sometimes people will not listen to reason at which point force is, unfortunately, the only option. Or, alternitavely, you will have to accept that people can do anything they want as long as they are willing to use force.

I don't think he was calling everyone stupid, just that we are deep down animals. As much as you want to try and rise above and try and act superior to the primitive animals, at our core we still have an animal instinct.
The people who riot and destroy property like this are not going out to watch hockey. They just know there is going to be a crowd and they use it as an excuse to burn, wreck and destroy things. It's like when the G8 meeting is going on there are protesters who have signs and chant and then there are the "protesters" that burn cop cars. The people who are using violence don't care about the cause they are just going to cause shit and use what ever event (playoffs, G8) as an excuse to get together and use the crowds for safety.
you know what's sad is japan goes through an catastrophic earthquake and they all wait patiently and obey the law waiting for help to arrive. none of them raid supermarkets or loot shops. other western nations (U.S. unfortunately as well) do disgusting things like this over sports or w/e.

frankly i look at this and wonder what sets people off into committing such idiotic and mindless acts. not talking about the punks who walked into the game ready to riot regardless of what happened, i'm talking about the bystanders who felt the need to join in because it'll further themselves in their own minds or satisfy some random desire. what is being implanted into our minds in society that makes this an acceptable decision to make at such a time?

Their true nature shows up during these events... the asian guy with the hockey stick goes to some random high school which I won't name though... he does have a facebook in which he goes "why is everyone breaking shit" when he's also the one participating in it... he's also not from vancouver...
There was an interesting article in the Toronto Star discussing on of the many videos shot of people "standing up" to rioters, looters and general asshats. Managed to dig up the article and video here . Mostly just more of the same, the part the article focuses on is about 3 minutes into the video. Always amazes and saddens me when you see examples of people sinking to stuff like this.
And I don't know about anyone else, but that flashbang to the groin made me flinch. God damn that looked painful.
