In L2 people used the name llllilliliiililllilillll For it's functionality when PKing people people wouldn't be able to target you using commands. But it was also a bitch for your friends to PM you haha.

Yea i still hate names like "DarkSoldier" or something like that, as well as the XxXxX names and l33t speak.

But what i hate most is the names that begin with "i" like iXxxx. Sooo annoying, and a lot of people use it nowadays

Steam lets you use characters that aren't part of the normal latin alphabet, and you ended up with people using the Greek rho as a p or chi as an x. Then they'd pick accented letters over regular ones and it was the funniest thing when you'd go against a team that used character maps.

my name was so classic on XBL, I used the auto name generator and it gave me "sadmushroom." Not knowing that this was a "loser's" ID, i had to play through hundreds of games with xXdArKsLaYeRXx and SSJVeGeTa look alikes teasing me for a silly id, ohhh adolescence.

also, i love how some people in CoD1 and 2 put more effort into making their IDs and clan tags then actually playing and practicing. i recall one conversation with some RL friends where i told them that people would remember them if they were really good, not if they had cool looking names and colors. they then told me that nobody wants to to remember an ugly name, and booted me out of vent..
