I don't care enough to argue these points. If an absolute beginner thinks it behooves them flick their wrist up and down for hours at a time with no discernable timing whatsoever, all power to them.

Honestly if you just want a mechanical exercise to practice alternate picking, grab a metronome and play the chromatic scale while altering fingerings: 1-2-3-4, then change to like 2-1-3-4, and go through all the patterns. Start with one string, then start going up and down strings. The hard thing about alternate picking isn't doing it quickly on a single string as much as coordinating that with your fretting hand.

On a completely unrelated note, the harmonic scale is awesome

However I also have been practicing the pentatonic scale just using my thumb for every string. So I guess my question is how should I be practicing scales as a fingerpicking player and would you advise me to also get comfortable with a pick?

I fell ya man... I just had a similar deal and got an amp. These look like great pedals! I know MXR and Boss both make awesome ones. Enjoy the sounds!

Is the micro amp a boost pedal?

Yep i use that as a boost for leads or whatever, and a little drive from the amp+the overdrive pedal for my main rythm sound

Also the DS1 is cool too but i didn't need that much gain, so i just got an overdrive pedal instead. Now all i need is a delay.

I've yet to find an affordable delay pedal I like. I think this one is good, but it's pricey:

(also it might not be that useful to you since it also has chorus which you have now.)

Delays really are on the expensive side of pedals yeah; it's probably my fetish for affordable stuff, but i think your average mxr carbon copy, boss dd7, or tc flashback is actually really good though

I love those Boss pedals. It makes no difference if you buy them used, you can throw anything at them and they'll be just fine.

Uhh I think I have a guitar problem

When I hammer on anything past the 5th fret from open string, I think it's plays another note as well as the hammer on note
The second "note" seems to be pretty high starting like 5th fret, then decreases in pitch until 12th fret, then start get higher in pitch for the E B G D string
Then it's the exact opposite for the low A and E string... for some reason

I am assuming this isn't supposed to happen...
Not sure if it is a recent problem or I never noticed
If I hammer on from a fretted string, it's fine, but from open string it does this

when would you ever even do a 0-5 or higher hammer on?

At any rate, that's completely normal, of course if you're hammering down, both halves of the string are going to reverberate. You won't hear the lower half of it, because its sound won't reach the pickups.

Bought a TC Flashback today, my DIY pedalboard is now complete \o/

That piece of wood there is a piece of a chair that kinda broke off so i just stuck some velcro on top of it and added rubber thingies at the bottom to keep it in place. Also whoever at MXR decided it would be smart to put the power plug on the side of the pedal is a goddamn moron.
