Keep it civil guys. Alright I am sick of warning people: Trolling, flame baiting, and derailing will result in insta bans. The same goes for conspiracy theorists and stupidity generally. Confirmation was as follows - On-site DNA test which came back as 99% positive. - photos of face sent to CIA and confirmed with photo analysis - confirmed by 20 year old wife who live in pakistan. This thread is specifically dedicated to the details surrounding the raid/his death.

I'm just hoping for a "mission accomplished" followed by a gradual withdrawal from Afghanistan and Pakistan. Of course that may be wishful thinking if this sparks some sort of backlash which requires us to stay in these countries longer... :/

It doesn't make sense if his death was faked since he could just show he is alive and destroy the populace's trust in the US of A. Unless this is a super plot by Obama to get bin Laden to come out of hiding to prove he is still kickin' haha

I only said it would make sense to not announce it immediatly. Also the word "just" is relative, you have to put it into context.

He admitted he killed 3000+ innocent civilians and plotted to kill more, thats like at the very least 30,000 years imprisonment, which will never be served because he can't live that long which will result in being given death penality. America killed more innocent Afghanistanian civilians finding Bin Laden. We don't see Afghanistanian soldiers coming over to America and killing George Bush and his family. America seems to think the things other countries do to it are unacceptable but they have no hesitation doing whatever they want to other countries. Also I find it totally barbaric that people are celebrating his death. I'm in no way sad the man is dead but its disgusting and pretty much asking for retaliation from Afghanistan.

Well obviously my views are the same as the actions taken. So I guess I did in the end.

AQ have done really terrible things, but it's not like they are doing them for no reason at all. America going to war over and over is something that draws a LOT of hate from especially european countries. At least thats how I see it. Most people i know are anti american, not against the people, just the country in general, but it's not like they don't know that not everyone in the US agrees with what's going on either. Sadly you can limit it to western europe, and Japan, both are which have been deeply affected by WW2.

I was meaning to write an article about that as it is, with everything German, incredibly complex. It's an obscure mixture of Ignorance, Pacifism, Fear of Losing Their Identity, Rooting For The Underdog, Pride, Arrogance, and probably a bunch of additional factors. That said this attitude is not representative of Germans in general and as I said mostly prevalent among young internet hot heads. Now I am derailing this myself... What I want to say is don't pay too much attention to the German and/or other trolls in this thread please.

Quite the contrary. First you have to acknowledge that most people here are very differnetiated when it comes to their attitudes towards the US as a political entity and the Americans as a people. Given the US foreign policy over the past 50 years, I conclude that the current anti-americanism wich is aimed towards the politics of the US as a nation, is more then justified. Put differently, there is simply no country which has - in the past decades - caused so much war and death as the US did. On top of that they justify the forceful pursuit of their economic interests with the propagation of democratic values they themselves are sometimes not willing to abide by (see Guantanamo, for example). tl;dr: If a nation's foreign policy is both ruthless and hippocritical, criticism of this nation's policy is justified and can exist apart from generalized hatred towards the people of that nation.
