The residential shown in this video, located in Sirte, was hit yesterday (16/09) in the middle of the night by NATO missiles.
These buildings comprises over 500 flats, most of which have been destroyed. No wonder that the number of casualties is in the hundreds or thousands.
Other civilian facilities have been bombed: cafes, restaurants, libraries and the TV station.
Testimonio The last 2 weeks more then 2500 civilians has been killed from nato only in bani walid and sirte. There are so many injured. So many children has been killed the last 3 days, there no medicine.
Civilian deaths in Libya: who’s killing who? 17-9-2011
David Cameron told a joint news conference in Tripoli.
He is right: civilians are still being killed. But now that Gaddafi is virtually powerless, the people increasingly doing the killing are National Transitional Council forces, together with NATO, as they attack Bani Walid and other Gaddafi strongholds.
On that, Cameron and Sarkozy are silent. “To paraphrase George Orwell in ‘Animal Farm,’ some civilians are more equal than others,” remarks John Laughland from the Institute of Democracy and Cooperation.
NATO insist their attacks are targeted, but there are reports of NTC reprisals against presumed Gaddafi supporters.
“Clearly there are real problems on the ground. There is a legacy of such a conflict that you will have human rights abuses taking part on both sides. The National Transitional Council have promised to hold their own fighters to account and I think that is a process we will see from now,” believes Middle East analyst James Denselow.
But it does not seem to be happening yet. The African Union alleges that transitional forces are hunting down and killing black Africans on the assumption that Gaddafi recruited them as mercenaries.
These allegations are borne out by an Amnesty International report which says the rebels are guilty of unlawful killings and torture. It is at pains to point out that Gaddafi’s forces committed terrible atrocities, but also documents a brutal settling of scores by rebel forces, including the lynching of Gaddafi’s soldiers.
Meanwhile, the colonel’s hometown is one of the last cities holding out against rebel and NATO forces. A letter – purportedly from Gaddafi himself – begs the UN Security Council to protect Sirte from being pounded by NATO, and to tackle what it describes as crimes by the forces of the new government. Civilian deaths appear inevitable.
Cameron and Sarkozy were quick to condemn Gaddafi for killing innocent Libyans in the lead-up to the imposition of NATO’s no-fly zone. But no such rhetoric is being aimed at the NTC.
Moreover, Britain has sponsored a draft UN resolution to ease sanctions against Libya and against Libya’s National Oil Corporation in particular, in a bid to get the oil flowing again.

Journalism at its best.
Did anyone said that this was journalism? I wrote footage right.. the RT part can be more classified as journalism.
Furthermore you don't get to see these kinds of images from our MSN the only thing you see is Cameron and Sarkozy smiling talking bs and the rebels yelling ALLAH AKBAR.
And when you do (thank god there are some sane people working there) it is censored (i.e CNN reports that Americans can't see) see post above.
Or they just don't post it on the headlines because it doesn't fit their narrative.
Much like your response now, because it doesn't fit your narrative you attack the messenger instead of the message.
It's ironic how you constantly seem to be under the impression that the media is entirely corrupt whilst your most cited "news" source is Russian Today, a news group that makes Fox News look like the poster boy for journalistic integrity.
RT published an article about how the rebels were nowhere near Tripoli WHILST the rebels were in Tripoli.
Much like your response now, because it doesn't fit your narrative you attack the messenger instead of the message.
That's because in this case the messenger, RT, is nothing other then a propeganda machine. Whatever they say should be considered false until proven otherwise based on their track record wich is utterly horrendous.
There are literally hundreds of examples where RT simply prints utterly fabricated stories for no other reason then that it suits their anti-western agenda.
You really don't grasp the irony of citing RT all the time whilst ranting about the media? You have a problem with "the media" but all your sources are corrupt to the core, build entirely on propeganda channels and blogs operated by "this guy i know".
They have printed false pieces and even had false "witnesses" on their shows to boast about the validity of it. They simply do not fact check at all and just select their stories based on wether it suits the narative or not.
Employee of RT William Dunbar had this to say when reporting on the South Ossetia war:
The real news, the real facts of the matter, didn't conform to what they were trying to report, and therefore, they wouldn't let me report it.
You desperately want to be "ahead of the game" and you think your not being deceived by "the media" but the truth is you are just buying into one of the most unreliable sources of news out there. I am seriously afraid that you might buy into North-Korean news if you ever saw it.
No wonder that the number of casualties is in the hundreds or thousands.
Anyone can shoot footage of rubble and claim hundreds or thousands of casualties. Bodies please? Oh wait... none will be provided as evidence. Because there weren't hundreds or thousands of casualties.
Arabs in particular have a big problem with lying about casualties because they know useful idiots like Saji will gulp it up.
Remember when "hundreds or thousands" of Palestinians were being killed in Jenin in 2002? Oops, turned out "hundreds or thousands" was only 52, with only about 10 of them being civilians and the rest being terrorists.
Lying is a basic Arab political compulsion, and believing lies that are anti-Western is a basic political compulsion for those like Saji.
I am seriously afraid that you might buy into North-Korean news if you ever saw it.
He'd believe The Onion if there was an article that agreed with him.
Conflict in Libya delays school year in universities
The begining of the school year has been delayed for almost 2 weeks in the universities of Libya's capital, Tripoli. The teachers, who are in their majority loyal to Gaddafi, have not been allowed to return to the academy. The university installations have also been dammaged by the NATO's bombing. teleSUR
The former rebels' executive committee, or cabinet, was dissolved last month. A new committee, to include officials responsible for defense and interior affairs, was supposed to be appointed by interim Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril on Sunday.
But the talks broke down when his proposals did not receive full backing from all current members.
Oh and also...
A spokesman for Gaddafi told Syrian-based Arrai TV on Sunday that 17 "mercenaries", including what he called French and British "technical experts" had been captured in Bani Walid.
It was not immediately possible to verify the report. NATO, French and British officials had on Saturday denied a report by Arrai TV that NATO troops had been captured by Gaddafi loyalists.
It seems the truth of what is happening on the ground is finally starting to come out. I expect more reports such as this to start surfacing in the mainstream media, even though independant journalists have been saying as much of months now.
Ghaddafi holding strong... can you imagine if he wins?
Libya's rebels fail to take control of Bani Walid and Sirte
Cairo - Libya's rebels failed for the second consecutive day Monday to take control of the two remaining strongholds of fugitive leader Moamer Gaddafi, the coastal city of Sirte, Gaddafi's birthplace, and the desert town of Bani Walid, south-east of Tripoli, Arab media reported.
Rebels fought fierce battles overnight but 'they could not make any major advances inside Bani Walid or Sirte,' Al Arabiya reported.
According to rebel sources the 'Gaddafi fighters are fighting fiercely for their last strongholds and they are positioned in key places inside the city of Bani Walid.'
Gaddafi spokesman Mussa Ibrahim speaking to the Damascus-based al Rai television by phone said Monday that their troops have won several battles in the past few days against the country's new authorities.
'We have won several battles against the NATO collaborators and managed to push them out of Bani Walid and Sirte.'
'In spite of deadly NATO strikes our forces resist and our fighters pursue their fight because we are involved in a battle for dignity and against the forces of evil,' he added.
Ibrahim said he was confident that the capital Tripoli would be 'reconquered

As usually, the truth is somewhere in the middle .

Winning against Europe and the US... this isn't a fairytale, you know.
And I do remember that we had reports a long time ago about european military presence on the ground: commandos are needed to carry out precise airstrikes.
And while foreign mercenaries have been reportedly been seen on both sides, I guess one side or the other can pay for the services of well equipped troops (much like Blackwater in Iraq).

You say you are innocent.
I say you are a murderer.
Congratulations, despite there being no proof you are now a rapist.
The truth is what the evidence shows it to be. Why would you "meet in the middle" on the truth.
My take on the conflict: - We should never have gotten involved. - We should get out as soon as possible. - It will end up in a really bad civil war, in which NATO will get the blame as long as we are involved, and afterwards as well, because everything in the world obviously is our fault in that part of the world.
Meh, fuck it.
There are much worse places in the world, like somalia, congo, sudan, chad, north korea, zimbabwe, and hell .. soon mexico, if the downward trend continues ...
So yeah, I am quite negative but honestly ... it has to be a revolution by the people, track record of civil wars where foreign powers get involved just isn't good. They last longer, and have more casualties, because the side getting support can continue pressing their advantage with less support by the people ... and continue fighting way after the should have given up. When both sides get support, it's even worse.
This war was popular because of Ghadaffi's earlier support for terrorism, but even as evil as he was ... he is just so far from the worst, that it's stupidity of the highest order that we 'had to deal with him' but leave so many others alone ...

Lol at Gaddafi the evil terrorist supporter. You obviously had no knowledge of Libya prior to the civil war and have eaten up the propoganda spewed by the western mainstream media to turn public opinion in favor of an intervention.
We are on the side that calls his action "terrorism", that's all. But he did kill civilians, in the nightclub "La Belle", declared that he provided bombs to IRA, etc, etc.
French lawyers to sue Sarkozy over Libya abuses Published: 19 September, 2011
Jacques Verges calls the Libyan war a new Vietnam, where the US sprayed tens of millions of liters of toxins on crops in the 60s and 70s, causing brain disorders, miscarriages and birth defects to this day.
“They are using missiles with depleted uranium, which cause cancer,” he claimed. “In Tripoli I saw people crippled by NATO attacks – office workers who have nothing to do with the fighting. That is why we are suing President Sarkozy for crimes against humanity.”
NATO first denied bombing the residence where 13 civilians, including four children, died. It then called the place a military command center. Journalist Michel Colon went to see what it really housed.
“Books, videos, Spiderman toys, cultural books, nothing military,” were what he saw there. In another attack, Khaled El Awidi's wife, child and grandchildren were reportedly killed in their home. NATO is accused of deliberately waging a campaign of terror.
“Their bombings targeted the electricity, water and food supply,” Awidi's lawyer, Marcel Ceccaldi said. “After five months of daily NATO bombs and thousands of deaths, people will stop supporting the regime, because they just can't take it anymore.”
Western leaders are poised for their first serious legal challenge over Libya. If they stop the cases coming to court altogether, adds Ceccaldi, it will prove once and for all that Western justice really is run by the politicians, not the rule of law.
I hate to be the one to bring this up, but I'm sure there is propaganda for both sides. Everyone is going to have to put their heads together and try to come up with a solution by taking information from both sides of the story.
This is mainly directed to those who keep saying "western propaganda" and then posting something outside of western news and declaring it fact. You guys have got to dig deeper than that to find the truth. Honestly, I don't know who's attacking who.
