Aside from a variety of good quotes from Steve Prefontaine that I'll let someone else post, I have two favorite ones
"Everyone is a genius but if you judge a fish on it's ability to climb trees it will live it's whole life thinking it's stupid." ~Einstein
and of course
"If you're going through hell... keep going." ~Winston Churchill.
Also, anyone know of a good winston churchill story? Apparently some rich noble lady was sitting next to him, and she was talking the entire time to his normal silence, as he was a rather quiet man when he wasn't in front of people. Finally, frustrated, she turned to him and said "You know, my friend bet me I couldn't get you to say three words this entire night." His response? "You lose." And with that, he got up and left.

"A witty saying proves nothing" -Voltaire
and I believe that story with the rich woman was with Calvin "silent cal" Coolidge

will smith pretty much sums up the story of my life in this quote
"The only thing that I see that is distinctly different about me is I'm not afraid to die on a treadmill. I will not be out-worked, period. You might have more talent than me, you might be smarter than me, you might be sexier than me, you might be all of those things you got it on me in nine categories. But if we get on the treadmill together, there's two things: You're getting off first, or I'm going to die. It's really that simple, right? You're not going to out-work me. It's such a simple, basic concept. The guy who is willing to hustle the most is going to be the guy that just gets that loose ball. The majority of people who aren't getting the places they want or aren't achieving the things that they want in this business is strictly based on hustle. It's strictly based on being out-worked; it's strictly based on missing crucial opportunities. I say all the time if you stay ready, you ain't gotta get ready."

It's not about winning or losing, its about giving anything and everything you have, and letting fate decide the rest. Even when fate doesn't land on your side, it changes nothing.
The most intelligent thing I have ever said.

"I'm about halfway through," he says. "I'm experimenting. What's big right now are beats that are in the clubs, like dubstep. So I want to mess with that stuff, but also stay me."
- Justin Bieber

If I may suggest, quoting yourself is a surefire way of killing a potential quote. It is as if to say, this is important, when the quote itself is supposed to do the talking. A better option is simply saying it again in where it applies if at first it landed in the wrong place. Just my opinion, for what it’s worth.
”To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget.”
- Arundhati Roy

This one was in my head all morning for some reason
"Girls can wear jeans and cut their hair short, wear shirts and boots, because it's OK to be a boy, but for a boy to look like a girl is degrading, because you think that being a girl is degrading. But secretly you'd love to know what it's like, wouldn't you? What it feels like for a girl?"

This one got stuck to me since a loooong time ago. It was told to my school class years ago by a "random" (because I don't remember his name or face anymore) Christian teacher, I'm not sure who he was quoting but here it's:
"La noia è una liberta senza desiderio"
"Boredom is freedom without a will"

Please stop giving credit to characters in books or movies for quotes, you should know by now that they are written by an author...

I visited my grandmas house a couple months ago and she had this quote on her fridge:
"Who is wise? One who learns from all. Who is wealthy? One who is happy with his portion. Who is Mighty? One who subdues his passions. Who is honored? One who honors all creation."
I thought it was pretty good
