On the topic of crazy things when I recently watched the Changeling I thought it was too bizarre to be true but I was wrong. Changeling

I thought it was heavily embellished but the few minor changes actually made the story tamer than the original.

Most definately an urban myth. As said by others you can get a certain disease from eating human brains, but it will not result in a "growth" as far as I know.

It is in fact possible to contract diseases from rotting flesh. These diseases are similar to things you would contract from eating rotting meat of any kind. I have heard this story also, a fairly long time ago and it was presented to me as being true. However I was much young and not as much of a natural skeptic as I am now. It fails a simple Google test, with nothing surprisingly substantial appearing on the first five pages or so. It leads me to believe it probably is a derivation and hyperbole of a true case, exaggerated through the oral story telling tradition.

Also heard this story a long time ago, didn't believe it then.

Just like the story about the police are too busy to respond to a ongoing burglary, the house owner calls again just to say he shot the guy, and 4 police cars appear within 5 minutes.

heh Its maybe just Déjà vu but i remember it from somewhere but it was little bit different but yea that story probably came over the world so some details can be changed.

im pretty sure this is an urban myth, because my friend tried to tell me this exact story. He told me that it was his friends friend who was the girl. I didn't really believe him, but he was pretty adamant that it was true.

People (or rather kids) make stuff like that up all the time. Say there was an a priori (i.e before hearing the story) chance of this happening of 1%. There's also a 20% (a priori) probability of someone making up a story like this. This leads to 1/21=4.8% probability of the story being true and 95.2% of being made up.

Of course the numbers are just guesses but I think they are at least in the right ballpark. That's before failing to find anything on google. Now it's more like 0.1 and 99.9.

As it has been said many times, from a medical point of view, this is total bs. You can get any bacterial infection you could possibly get from eating corpses by any other means. Fun fact: the more rotten a corpse gets, the less toxic it actually is, because putrefying bacteria, most of them are almost non pathogenic, take over the corpse and push back the harmful pathogenic bacteria.

edit about the kuru disease, you would have to eat human prion infected brains for like 20 years or something. But the question that bothers me most is: why would some maniac dude who normally eats woman for dinner, go to a bar and only make out with a girl?
